Why would we care there? Wouldn't that be even weirder??
Note:If people die here from a crime people care. Or if you can blame it on a minority or immigrant. Or if your condo pancakes on everyone and crushes people to death.
But it seems like several times a year there's a stampede or flood during a pilgrimage or a soccer match or something else --and they'll be more next year too.
Also:As Carlin rightly pointed out - the closer the tragedy is the more and LONGER people care. Factor blows up a mile away keeps your attention longer than a factory blowing up 2,00 miles away.
You know does care?? TV news - they played the south Korea thing for several days.
But really what can people do as individuals? Go to South Korea now? Donate money to India infrastructure repair?
