It just hasn’t gotten as bad for us yet Think of it like everyone is driving off a hill that leads to small wall, but over that wall is a cliff If you hit the brakes early enough you hit the hill, then you may ding on the wall you keep your car too Now to have hit those brakes you’d have to have prediction powers because this was a new virus and there was nothing to say that or how it operated
Second option you hit the brakes later and you crash hard into the wall, it sucks, people get hurt, car is broken and people without seatbelts may be launched from the vehicle. This is the analogy of a pandemic that no human body has experienced and some people are gonna die regardless of what’s done. It just happened to be too late to help them.
Third option is that you accelerate towards the hill, you accelerate down the hill, you hit the wall and the vehicle flips into the air and you have no idea how bad things are gonna get. We’re at option three. We’re too big, too populated, too disjointed to do this without effective central leadership and the folks at the top are flying through the air pushing the brake pedal mid air because they believe it’ll slow things once the car hits ground.
