And this is exactly how it should be. People weren't meant to be alone and if one finds happiness they should (in all healthy cases) should pursue that happiness to the end.
But logically knowing that, I can't help my visceral feeling from last night. I can't help the visceral feeling I get in DC on how often we end up being the only black couple when we go somewhere. Be it a museum party, or many concerts, I just don't see many black couples outside of "black" spaces or rather I don't see many black couples in mixed spaces. And in a birthing class where in a country where black mothers are dying at higher rates than anyone else, to see Black men escorting white women through that process hit me outside of my brain.
