it's inability to pay attention to things that aren't interesting.*
One of the only reasons I lagged a bit in following my instinct to get my kid evaluated was that he could watch Thomas, or read books with me, or listen to books on CD in the car, or talk about dinosaurs or trains or animals for hours on end. I thought surely if he had ADHD, he couldn't actually be able to remain that focused for that long.
Turns out that pattern of selectively hyperfocused interest/behavior is very common in ADHD kids at young ages.
