As Chairman of the Judicial Committee, he basically rolled over and let the Republican members throw Hill completely under the bus and drag her completely through the mud.
Those hearings also introduced me to many of the shitbird Republicans that made name for themselves through the '90s and even the '00s: Orrin Hatch, Alan Simpson, Arlen Specter, etc. And they were even represented by Republican shitbirds of the past: Strom Thurmond.
