I've already begun to tally, so no one is allowed to revise their own list. Jigga, Wordman, anyone else... you've got 5 hours. Otherwise, wallow in your own disgrace and wretched shame.
By now, you've probably seen Entertainment Weekly's List: http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=6&topic_id=380736&mesg_id=380736&page=
And you've probably disagreed with it.
Well, we at PTP will form our own list. And it will be awesome.
RULES:
1. You must rank the films. With a list of this length, we can't simply count how many times a film is included, there would be too many ties. All lists MUST be ranked.
2. You must list as full a list as possible. Any list with less effort than 50 films will not be counted.
3. What qualifications should you use to vote? Simple-- which films do you think will be classics to you years and years down the line? So, if you think House of Sand and Fog is a "better" film than Borat, but you will remember Borat long after House of Sand and Fog has faded from your memory, put Borat higher. Make sense? It's your personal classics-- not critical favorites, but the films you believe you'll argue are classics until the end of your life.
4. Scoring: I was going to do the film listed first gets 100 points, second gets 99, etc. But since I doubt we get 100 people to vote in this poll, I might just go with #1 gets 11 points, other top 10 films gets 10 points, films 11 through 20 get 9 points, etc. That way, films included on more lists, even if they aren't as high, will have a better shot. If anyone thinks that's a poor way to compile this list, feel free to comment on it. But if only 20 or 30 people vote, giving any film 100 points would more or less guarantee its inclusion fairly high on the final list, so one joker who loves Police Academy 3 more than life could skew our list considerably, lol. So yeah, lemme know if you have a better way to score this shit, nerds.
5. If you want to revise your list, just reply to your original list with a subject line "UPDATED LIST." That'll make it so I accidentally don't count your list twice.
If there are any questions, lemme know either via inbox or in the post. Feel free to comment on other people's individual lists if you'd like-- in fact, reading others' lists might help you remember a film you forgot that you wanted to include.
Here are some fairly comprehensive lists of films if you wanna do some research: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1980s_in_film http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990s_in_film http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2000s_in_film
Let's try to have our lists done by July... but I might let it run longer than that so more people can vote. But EVERYONE VOTE!
