rope psycho rear window dial m for murder strangers on a train marnie the lady vanishes rebecca north by northwest foreign correspondent suspicion vertigo the birds i confess
most people don't like ROPE. i love it. jimmy stewart was a great lead for hitchcock. it all takes place in a single room, very much set up to resemble its theatrical roots. it's really one of his most slept-on joints. i highly recommend it though. it's in my top five hitchcock films.
suspicion--- cary grant, the glowing glass of milk, what were his *true* intentions? great movie. compare the out-of-control car scene here with the one in north by northwest-- the drunken one.
marnie--- sean connery was fascinating-- his demeanor, the way he talked to marnie. the movie itself is actually pretty ehh to me and i am disturbed by a particular scene between connery and hedren, but i was supposed to be, and it's done in such a way, probably to suit censors, that you're a little unsure as to what just happened, but in this film, hitchcock focuses a lot on the eyes and the truths or untruths found in them.
strangers on a train--- people think norman bates was unhinged? please. "we'll just switch-- criss cross..." CRAZY!
psycho is still my favorite, without a doubt. when hitchcock pans from the dead eye to the money in the newspaper... excellent. (also, when she reaches out to grab the shower curtain before keeling over, you can see her breast pretty clearly). i hated all those sequels and that remake. blech.
