but is using 'excellent utilization of a notably bad actor', as an example, really proving a claim as astronimical as 95%? it assumes that most actors are on Keanu's level. if anything, wouldn't he be the exception and not the rule? plus, there's still no illusion here. no one's fooled by Keanu's performance into thinking he's a good actor. he just fits his role well, kind of like Heston did in many of his.
as for ricky's Marky Mark rule, I see him as another exception, only I think Whalberg has proven he can act his act off ONLY if he's cast just right (I don't believe his (few) stand-out performances have much at all to do with editing). Boogie Nights has one of the most impressive casts in recent memory and Whalberg out acted every single one of them. and regardless of story, editing, screentime, etc... he still deserves a ton of credit for his own performance.
i don't really think it's possible to slap a percentage on this whole thing, but if you were to do so.. 95%?? that's beyond ridiculous.
