1. I feel like Pacino only does this in movies where he's paid big bucks to just "be Pacino" a la The Recruit or Gigli. These are clearly done just to get a check, not for any artistic value (at least I believe this to be true). Can a great actor get a pass if the movies where he plays a caricature are very mainstream, not-so-artsy films (Scarface excepted, and I've made my opinions on Scarface clear).
2. Yet Francis Ford Coppola is not a perfect director either: Finian's Rainbow, Peggy Sue Got Married, The Rainmaker, and especially Jack. How do your percentages work in regard to directors whose careers aren't as consistent as a Spielberg, a Hitchcock, or a Welles?
