Look, a socialist country does not own every business in the country, just the major ones. You're thinking of communists. But you're close. Socialism is just one step of communism.
Socialism simply means that government has a major stake in the business and economic sector of the country. Not only does Nader want to take over the fortune 500, but they also want to own the top 200 banks. Also, they want to make sure that no business gets more than 10% of their respected market. In other words, the government is holding back the progress of businesses and the economy from the private sector. Such craziness would only spell trouble for the country. That's why the US is on top of the economic food chain, and everyone isn't.
