"Who can touch Talib Kweli on the mic?"
Ok well... where should I start? But first keep in mind that I'm a huge Talib fan. But!!! As sick as he is as a lyricist, he lacks a lot of finess. He often sounds like he's readin off the paper. Even with his lyrics as sick as they are he often has filler lines where he over uses "like" he's been doing that for years.
Now for my list.
-Andre "Ice Cold" 3000 (Yall know like I know that most of these emcees were lucky he was singing over most of his songs instead of spitting)
-Wordsworth (If you haven't heard more of his stuff you need to. Peep a Joint called "Apartments". And he sunned damn near everybody on the "Twice in a lifetime" song off the Blackstar album. When my man was in college he wrote his term papers as rhymes. How sick is that? My man rarely drops a filler."
-Pharaoh Monch (need I even explain that one. Like them or not but the source even gave my man 5th illest verse in hip-hop history for something he spit in 1993. And we all know he's only gotten better.
Why go on? But regardless I will be copping or stealing Talib's new project whatever comes first. Should be hot. But the OKP artist album I'm anticipating the most is Common. Just to hear what he does with a Kanye track.
