I predict well have to change scoring after this season cause anyone with AD would have an unfair advantage.

I think what we should do instead is determine a different way to determine who gets the top pick instead of the randomizer.

But that's a big decision that I doubt everyone would be on board for.

Everyone selects the draft position of one other person in the league.

That's so devious that I sort of love it. Like the cooking shows where the chefs try to sabotage the others by giving them what they feel are difficult ingredients.

We can either go down the line by record from previous year....

or the champ chooses first, then that person chooses and so on.

In that the gap between CP3 and the next best guard in terms of FPPM may be a touch higher than the gap between AD and the next best F or C.

The gap between CP3 and the fifth best guard will almost certainly be higher in terms of FPPM than AD and the fifth best F or C.

That's why I picked CP3 #1, anyway.

But if AD actually averages 1.7+, I'm not convinced the relative positional value is a big enough difference maker to justify it, lol.

I'm trying not to overreact, as it's one game against a frontcourt that isn't terribly defensively stout at the moment. AD's had huge games in the past. He can obviously do 20/10/3, but can he push 25/14/4.5? That's the real determiner-- just how far past 20/10/3 he can push.

Now when I move a F to the bottom of my lineup on "lineup page" and save

he doesnt end up at the very bottom where I put him when it refreshes.

He ends up at the bottom of the Fs


So at the next deadline will it drop teh guy I put at the bottom or the player at the very bottom (which is a guard)

Even when it's a waiver pickup and you're going from 13 to 12. Saving lineup with 13 doesnt drop the bottom player.

So depending on how you set your lineup its usually a Guard.


If you have a 13th you have to actively drop someone yourself by the deadline.
You cant just set the guy at the bottom like you did in the past and let it automatically do it.

We would Choose who we didnt want and move him to the bottom of teh lineup and thats how we "Chose" who would get dropped. Its not liek there was an unfair advantage, and doing that easier than having to go to a separate screen to drop a player.


Just like now you have to go into a different screen to drop a player. Why didnt the designers just make a drop button on the same page where your lineup is so you could just click "drop". If they didnt want you to carry 13 to teh deadline so bad?

But if what i remember is correct, when i picked up parsons he went to the bottom of my Fs (which are in the middle of my lineup)

And it dropped Hill who is at the bottom of my guards.

Again Im not sure because I actually went in adn tried to move Tobias to the bottom of my guards and hit save to have him be the player that would get dropped, but it just puts him as my bottom F adn dropped hill.


I wasnt really checking for it at the time cause I assumed it worked like last year so I could be wrong. Worth figuring out imo. Something something 12, shouldnt carry 13.

Fellas let me know if you're encountered issues with the new waiver process. Shawn indicated that it adjusted his lineup (put the new pickup in with F's instead of at the bottom of the lineup). If anyone else has this issue, let me know. Might be a system glitch or we may have to just be aware that the guy we want to drop should be at the bottom of the lineup.

My experiment was admittedly haphazard, and I have a tendency to spazz out on shit like this, but a big reason is because the site as we all know has issues.


Again. I didnt know there was anything to even consider until I kept moving Tobias to the bottom of "lineup" page, clicking Save and he would end up, not at the bottom of my lineup, but at the bottom of my forwards instead. Can we admit that if I'm moving a guy to the bottom of my lineup, he should stay there regardless of position?

So at that point, yes, I could have just gone to drop Tobias, but I figured we could at least play around a bit and see what happens with this. "Does the system still somehow see Tobias at the bottom of my roster, even though he's not there?"

What we figured from what I tried, was "No. That does not happen."

So Ernies experiment gives us all the other piece of information we need.

I'm not sure if this is your coming back and being active in the league party or what? But if so welcome back!

Go back and read the replies. For whatever reason you made this about me. I was always talking in more general terms about the league. Maybe its because you know me. Maybe its because of the text messages we exchanged.

But in this post I stated what I was trying to do and why I was testing things out for the league. Again, its not like I went back post George Hill drop and was like "Oh shit I made a mistake, let me test some shit out right quick."

Never was it a "I'm just lazy." I cited that as one of the reasons an owner could have, and I threw out several other reasons. You decided to focus on that. Again, maybe because you know me.

If there was a change in the system that .ws didnt announce, we should know about it and figure it out so we know what to do if an issue arises. I know you dont play anywhere else, but on every other fantasy site if they want you not to have an extra player when you add, they make you drop a player before you can make the pickup. WS doesnt do that so should we assume its by design? Or designers incompetence?

Now that we know how it works (thanks ernie). I will continue to Volleyball add a 13th player to my roster and manually drop the 13th one whenever I want before the deadline (HiRob).
And if someone gets dropped mistakenly in that case because I forgot to move a player off my roster, no I will not complain.

Now if we want to actually change the volleyball rule then I'll comply.

this season a slight change in the .ws ui makes slightly harder to game the system. this is confusing and frustrating because it might make it harder for you to manage your team.

i used to be able to slide new free agents into my lineup and then slide the person i wanted down before i add/dropped

the logic is the same....but it actually is more of a change for someone who always add/dropped at the same time than someone who just added people and fuck everyone else.

i assume the change has to do with making the site work better for phones and different sized screens.

It's just instead of moving a guy up and hitting "save lineup" you have to drop in the free agents page. So I dont see whats changed.

all i know is it is a little bit different for me than it was before, but only because i couldn't slide people around on the add/drop page.

Theres all kinds of different rules in fantasy that aren't level. Why does the last place team get waiver priority ALL THE TIME?

Yes I volleyball when I can, but Ive advocated for a different system when I was low and high in the standings- whether I was able to use it or not.

Personally I think the ideal system would be something more akin to Yahoo fantasy leagues that rotates the waiver priority. So you;re #1 now, you get your guy, you move to the end of the queue.

Ive tried to propose that but it got shot down (somehat understandably) because itd be hard to monitor.

13 Roster spots - get rid of IR.

I dont know if this is new, but with Frank's league we were able to add up to 15 (maybe even more) spots to the roster.


Why dont we just get rid of the IR (I think the reason we had to create it was because we couldnt put in a 13th roster spot) and allow people to have 13 slots.

If you draft embiid and want to keep him. Fine, he sits in your 13th spot. If you dont want him anymore, you drop him. No Need for IR, yahoo, rotoworld, etc.

I was not the worst record in the league, so I couldnt just preemptively drop, as I wasnt sure I'd get my guy off waivers.

Because people were concerned about stashing. IR is for injuries only. And I wasn't gonna police rosters to make sure #13 was an actual injured guy nor force someone to drop a player when the injured guy returned.

And the 15 roster spots have been there for like 3 seasons now.

Its just 13 man roster and you use it for whatever or whoever the fuck you want.

That also means theres no extra IR spot. If you wanna hold embiid and Durant they just sit on your roster all season til they can play.

The con of that is that it reduces our already sometimes sparse FA pool of available free agents by about 12 players (Since 4 are probably gonna be legit IRs)

AD's highs will be bigger than CP3's, but CP3 just put up two straight games of nearly 2 FPPM and is second in FPPG.

I want to see what happens when AD's numbers are more than just three games, one of which was the biggest individual game in Survivor history (this is a guess on my part, but it feels like a good one). Take away that freak game and CP3's best game, and CP3 has the better numbers (granted, he's played an additional game).

But again, all of this conjecture is silly, as it's incredibly early. Talk to me 20 games in, and we'll have more stats at our disposal.

Last april I sent WS a message about WS playoffs. Robe swept me in the playoffs and I didn't check ws again, forgetting that I emailed them. Here was their response.


Yes, I'll spoil it now by letting you know that we do have a lot of ideas for the future. This past year was our first full season at the helm, and we learned a lot about the behind the scenes functions of the site (particularly, the broken pieces). We've been throwing new looks and new pages out slowly this year, but this summer will largely be about fixing some glaring bugs (perhaps you've seen some game scoring or playoff bracket issues in your leagues), and redesigning a lot of pages.

Ideas for the future include some of the following:
- WNBA summer fantasy league
- Some sort of playoff fantasy season
- Redesign of Pick 5
- March Madness brackets
- Weighted scheduling for leagues with divisions/conferences
- more!

We're not sure when any or all of those will happen (the scheduling thing probably for next year), but they're all strong possibilities. Spread the word!

And if you have any ideas, do let us know!

As for ending a season early, we want to completely redesign scheduling. We're coming up with a schedule that will take into consideration leagues with divisions and conferences, and possibly something that we can customize from league to league. Part of that is ending early. Hopefully we'll get that figured out for 2015-16.

Once that happened and they announced LaVine would start and it looked like I'd get close to 96 G minutes, I calmed down and let rational thought prevail. But yeah, thanks to everyone who was talking trade with me for that steady 12-hour period. Dray is still on the market (I'd rather not spend a month with Ronnie Price as my second guard), but I reckon I value him at more than his current output, so I ain't ready to sell so low.

You will be allowed to have more than 12 players temporarily, and will lose the 13th, 14th, etc. when the next deadline arrives. Make sure you double-check the order of your lineup if you will have more than 12 players.

Here is what Austin (the guy who runs WS now wrote me on reddit. I hit him up at the height of #13warz last week

So he didnt create it and sees where it can be problematic. I suggest that the waiver priority rotates through the league so that the worst team doesnt always have priority

I've definitely noticed that in my own leagues, but have to attribute all of the actual logic behind the code to the original creators.
I'm believe it was probably coded that way intentionally, but it's certainly something that can be exploited depending on how your league runs. To be honest, as a user it doesn't really bother me all that much (not like one guy in one of my leagues that scooped up Jeremy Lin off waivers in July and rolled with a 13-man team all summer until the first freeze deadline).

My opinion as a user is that if a team is in last place day in and day out, they can hold on to whatever waiver players they want - at that stage they need all the help they can get. It's not like they can benefit from that player's stats in an actual box score, right?

What would you suggest we do? You should bring this up in the Contributor's Only forum at the site if you have access, there are plenty of long-time users who's opinions I'd be curious to get on this.

Late November, but I think mid December is more likely. Those early wins were huge for me, shouldnt be too far under .500 once I'm full strength. Frontline has been pretty ridiculous and I think Nerlens and Dieng will only get better.
