13192345, Do you carry cash?
Posted by ThaTruth, Wed Dec-31-69 07:00 PM
Fuck all you "I don't carry cash" mf's. Now if your life is set up where you NEVER find yourself in a situation where you need cash and you're able to function like that, cool more power to you.

But if you have an active social life and regularly go to bars, clubs, parties etc. that may charge cover at most places you can't pay with a card at the door. Cash may be required to pay for things like parking, tips etc. If you're one of those people that's ALWAYS hitting up the homie that DOES carry cash talking about "I don't have any cash, can you spot me and I get you back?" fuck you. I know shit happens sometimes but for mf's that ALWAYS do that? Fuck you. When I go out I prefer to spend cash because I don't like using my card in a lot of random ass places anyway. But I usually budget enough cash for ME and MY nights expenses, not the weak ass mf that came out to kick it with nothing but a damn debit card. Don't be that guy. You know we're going out, we've discussed it all week. Prior to that take your ass to the ATM and get some fucking cash. A grown ass man should some cash in his pocket at all times.

13192361, I have a couple of friends that never carry cash, its really just annoying...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Sep-07-17 02:43 PM
usually when we go out somewhere and I have to spot them if I have the extra cash its cool because they usually buy drinks on their card and I usually way drink more than what the cover/parking etc was lol. But sometimes I only have enough cash for ME, so then we have to go find an ATM, a total buzzkill lol
13192372, man, last week folks from the office went to lunch
Posted by GROOVEPHI, Thu Sep-07-17 02:58 PM
me and this old Mormom dude were the only ones with cash.
We all had separate checks so it wasn't an issue, until someone suggested that we pay for the 2 people at the table that just had birthdays. Oh boy, what a fiasco that was. Spent an extra 30 minutes at the restaurant while the waiter had to sort the shit out and figure out how to put certain amounts on each card. smh.

13192351, if i'm going out to eat/drink with a group of people,
Posted by BigJazz, Thu Sep-07-17 02:37 PM
i plan it so that i have cash & credit. that way when the check comes, i'm flexible. if the server doesn't like the idea of running 4 or 5 different credit cards, i can always toss my cash on the table and let everybody else figure it out. hopefully they got cash too. or if people wanna get funny about the split and become mathematicians at the table, i can toss out my cash and be done with it.

13192353, I carry what little I have
Posted by sectachrome86, Thu Sep-07-17 02:38 PM
I might have like $20-25. It usually stays in there a really long time because I never use it. And once that's gone it's probably going to be a while before I have any again.

You don't like using your card in a lot of random places? You afraid you're going to wear it out or something? What is the max number of separate establishments you will allow your card to be used in a given day?

No but bars and restaurants can lose your card, or shady bartenders or servers my write down your number and try to go shopping, or some establishments depending on their system will overcharge your card initially and the money goes back on your card later which could be anywhere from a couple of days to a week
13192375, Meh, easy to report fraudulent charges and get a new one

Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Sep-07-17 02:40 PM
worst case I have to go to an ATM which is usually close by.

13192364, In NYC I think it's necessary. Buying small stuff on the street
Posted by Teknontheou, Thu Sep-07-17 02:45 PM
from fruit vendors or a water or something requires it.

If I were in MD where my parents are, I'd probably never have cash, though.
13192366, not really. i'll get $40 out when i get a haircut and just roll w/ that for a bit
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Sep-07-17 02:46 PM
usually that's about $25 which is enough for dinner and bar that saturday afternoon. or if i chill out on a weekend it'll get me to tuesday or wednesday for lunch

i just cashapp/venmo friends for cash only shit usually.
13192377, $25 for dinner and the bar??????
Posted by Cenario, Thu Sep-07-17 03:02 PM
13192390, everything is cheaper in the south
Posted by BrooklynWHAT, Thu Sep-07-17 03:13 PM
usually i have to switch over to a tab about midway through the bar though.

but yeah unless im getting some IPA shit at dinner i can usually stretch that $25 a few drinks/beers into the bar
13192392, NC prices fam
Posted by legsdiamond, Thu Sep-07-17 03:14 PM
13192398, My sis lives in NC, and diner we went to had breakfast for $3.75
Posted by flipnile, Thu Sep-07-17 03:20 PM
Bacon, eggs, toast & orange juice. She's out by Winston-Salem tho.

Cigarettes were so cheap that I thought about bringing some back with me to Philly and selling loosies.
13192408, right I'm thinking "wth you eating?!" lol
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Sep-07-17 03:37 PM
13192370, i just got back to using cash
Posted by GROOVEPHI, Thu Sep-07-17 02:56 PM
because it makes me more conscious of my spending.
took it back to 2001 when I would have give myself a certain amount of cash for the week determined not to spend it all by the end of the week.

I do the same with grocery money. On the 1st, we take out $500 cash and put it in an envelope. that seems to work better than budgeting 500 and depending on card use.
13192378, true, some folks get in trouble with that card swiping all willy nilly...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Sep-07-17 03:03 PM
until one day its declined and they're looking silly lol talking about "I don't know why my card isn't working?!" shit I know, your ass is broke lol
13192387, man, my wife was notorious at Target
Posted by GROOVEPHI, Thu Sep-07-17 03:11 PM
she'd be like 'I gotta go to Target to get some stuff for the house" and end up spending a grip.
So I was like 'this is HOUSE money'. once its gone, that's it. We need this shit for groceries and whatever little things you think we need from Target. LOL.
it seems to help.
13192393, Target is the devil
Posted by sectachrome86, Thu Sep-07-17 03:15 PM
I go in there to buy milk or something, and end up spending $200 every time.
13192391, also, i second guess purchases if i'm using cash
Posted by GROOVEPHI, Thu Sep-07-17 03:14 PM
I got a dub in my pocket and buying my lunch will cost me 12.50, fuck that i'll pack leftovers. LOL
13192410, yep shelling out that cold cash will make you reconsider some things lol...
Posted by ThaTruth, Thu Sep-07-17 03:38 PM
>I got a dub in my pocket and buying my lunch will cost me
>12.50, fuck that i'll pack leftovers. LOL
13192374, i'm with you on that...i tend to take a $100 out of the atm at a time
Posted by Cenario, Thu Sep-07-17 03:01 PM
i'll keep that on me to use for incidentals. If you catch me when its time to re-up i may be that guy. But if i'm running low, i'm tryna hit up the ATM on GP. I'm rarely the dude without at least $20 in my pocket.
13192380, I always try to have at least $40 on me
Posted by handle, Thu Sep-07-17 03:06 PM
My grandfather told me in 1975 that I should always have cash in my pocket when I go into a store - going into a store without money is bad. Liek "Why the fuck are you in this store without a way to buy things??"

Cards have changed this dynamic a bit - but still a good policy.
13192384, Always. I also keep little stashes in my car & bike too.
Posted by flipnile, Thu Sep-07-17 03:10 PM
13192471, Yup
Posted by rhchick, Thu Sep-07-17 05:09 PM

Posted by rob, Fri Sep-08-17 12:01 AM

13192601, It keeps me from overspending
Posted by Jonjuan, Fri Sep-08-17 07:53 AM
I plan petty cash into my budget. When I run out, I have to wait until the next cash day.
