"Who are your top 5 NBA players to "build around"?"
Say you were given an expansion team to build from scratch and you had your pick of every player in the league, who are your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th choices to build around?
Harden and Russy over CP3 and Melo primarily due to age. Curry and Kyrie on the bubble as well. Obviously Rose too, I just wanna see how he looks coming back.

lol obviously u can "build around" dudes like deron, cp3, harden, etc if all u expect is to be competitive and lose in the 1st or 2nd round the context of dudes statement was championship contender tho only a handful of players basically guarantee that by themselves bron and durant mainly MAYBE rose or dwight because at least we've seen them carry role players to conf finals before (edit so did deron but i think ppl have moved on from placing him in that category)

Lebron would be #1 on everybody's list but I wanted to see what the rest would look like. I know a lot of people are down on Dwight so I was surprised that he made so many lists.
I do kinda laugh at the fickle basketball nature of some NBA fans that act like any team that doesn't have Lebron has no shot as a title while if Ginobili or Leonard had made 1 of those free throws in game 6 of the Finals that tune would be totally different.
I think it is possible to build an NBA contender without having one of the top 2 or 3 players in the league.

Even without Russy if Ibaka and Perkins play like an actual NBA front court, they probably make at least the conf finals, maybe the finals. If anything Durant looked like a Cleveland Bron.

He was cleveland Lebron he was awful against memphis and it is funny how we can now play the blame perkins and ibaka game but when Melo fans say damn if JR and chandler would have shown up it would have been different and it is clownage season or if Melop fans would say damn if Melo ever played with a healthy big man in the post season with the exception of one yr how he would get out of the playoffs.

Lebron and Durant are obvious.
Melo, Paul, and Rose are all among the top players in the game and have all taken teams to the playoffs without much help at least several times in their careers, and are in their primes now.
D12 has too, but his personality issues are a detriment to building around him. I picked Rose's knee over Dwight's head.

you either need two top 15-20ish players or solid players at every position able to play 30+ a night, + coaching
