It might be the best movie I've seen yet this year. The comedy you expect from those guys, they ALL bring it. And it's got horror mixed in for good fun. It was really, really good, and the entire audience loved every minute of it. It will do BIG numbers.

And yes, the questions are silly but in complete line with the apparent tone of (as well as some of the jokes in) the movie... perhaps his "people" should have warned him about the tone of the questioning?

here it was anyways:

the questions are pretty clear and unambiguous and kinda fun, and he has no time for them? lol cmon. n since when is Rolling Stone a bastion for journalism? since when do we want serious questions aimed at these guys who've made their bread n butter by farting, cursing and doin all sortsa disgusting shit on film? the appeal of that entire group is that they CAN transition and do dramatic roles and still remain friendly everyday dudes. Franco seems to be the coolest out of ALL of em.

so Jonah does a few non-comedys n its all "im a serious actorrrre" now? lol. nah. plus if he's supposedly 'transitioned' then he should be able to DEAL with those questions in a non-uppity way thats becoming of a professional, no?

"It's becoming increasingly clear that there's nothing left to learn about Hill under present circumstances."

The circumstances being that you're giving a stupid interview?

I agree that Jonah shouldn't have said the shit he did and should have played ball more since the interview is for what seems to be a fairly sophomoric movie but that interview struck me more like a knucklehead wanting to pretend he's hanging out with the stars of "This is the End" than give an actual interview. The Apatow stuff seemed like he was going somewhere interesting but they couldn't be bothered.

It was a stupid interview and someone who took himself too seriously called them out for being stupid.

That's really not him taking himself too seriously. That question is beyond stupid, even with all context taken into consideration, and deserved the exact response it got.

so i don't see why Jonah is wrong...

*BUT* he does take himself too seriously post oscar nomination and i don't know why...dude wasn't *THAT* good in Moneyball and since he lost weight, he has been taking things way too seriously...

like dude, your resume is hilarious to shitty ass stoner/gross out/gag comedies and ONE drama....

talk to us when you do more dramas and can be decent in them *THEN* be a serious douche...

right now...no. just no.

but Franco seems cool as hell, like id share a bong with his ass and humor him when he tried to get "deep" and shit...lol

Rare is the Jonah appearance in a comedy that doesn't have me ROLLING.

The interview made me wonder how far off his character in this movie is from himself in real life, lol.

i feel like he got nominated because he "stretched himself" and did something different...

i.e. geeky ass comedian in comedies to a straight supporting drama role = oscar nomination pretty much.

we all know that's how it happens...

Not major OMG spoilerz but there's some funny details in there about certain people

I also just read an article somewhere about how they intentionally submitted the movie to the MPAA chock full of obscenity so they'd get the NC-17 and have to cut certain frames to get the R, but that the MPAA said they didn't have to make any cuts at all. Part of the article describes what has to be a visual that was inspired by South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut...

Usually the flicks by this gang wear out their welcome or have a good twenty minutes of fluff. Here, the build feels right, leading to what can only be called the most satisfying ending any summer movie will have (I feel pretty safe saying that).

Great cameos, plenty of one-liners. I enjoyed it.

Like Frank said, it's one of those rare comedies that doesn't wear out its welcome in the third act. And that ending!? Goddamn it, that was beautiful. Not a damn week link in that entire core. And Michael Cera. Michael Fucking Cera.

It must be amazing to be able to make a movie like this with all of your friends.

Oh, and Jay Baruschel needs to be in more things

The thing that struck me is how the movie does a nice job of playing off of the stereotypes of young "hipster" Hollywood that so-called ordinary joes don't like without pandering to that audience by slamming everything about that culture.

For every line about how they're all lame actors pretending to be tough, or every Jay Baruchel line about how lame everybody in L.A. is and he just wanted to hang with his buddy Seth (there's the Apatow influence, btw), there's a heated argument about one's right to bust nuts all over another dude's place (which was fucking hysterical) or a visual of a demon with an erection, or a fey Jonah Hill playing with what everyone thinks is a loaded gun. Just when you think Rogen and Goldberg are going to "go in," they pull back and give you a dick joke or five. Fine by me.

I'm actually glad that Rogen and Goldberg didn't lace this thing with acerbic shots at Young Hollywood. That would have been boring, and, coming from gentle bear Seth Rogen, a bit dishonest. To me, that's why Observe and Report didn't work, because Seth Rogen just doesn't do "dark" very well. And in case anyone asks, this is not a dark comedy.

It is still quite funny, mainly because, even in the face of the Apocalypse, everything's still shaggy dog and kinda laid-back.

I thought Craig was fantastic, Franco was (once again) very funny, and Danny McBride, while doing a slight variation on Kenny Powers, was also cracking me up. Everyone else was fine.

And coked-up Michael Cera is very, very funny.

Goofy as fuck, and some might say offensive, but eh.

He's the one guy I figured wouldn't matter much & ended up being an awesome lead for the rest of the gang.

I was ready to give up on Rogen but he bounced back nicely here. I can't recall the line about Cera's butt but it was gold.

Really glad this didn't fall into that tired trope & Craig Robinson wasn't the 1st to die. He was killin it w/ Scooby Doo & Anyone need this dick one-liners. Loved the face-palm on Jay while they were sleeping too.

Wasn't really feelin Jonah much until he got possessed. The exorcism would've played better had they left it out of the trailers but that was still his best moment beside the video confession prior. The chime ins during Jay & Seth's fight were good too.

Franco floored me w/ his facial expressions during the match drawing scenes. His fights w/ Danny & the heaven rejection were highlights as well. Somewhat surprised he never really tried to pull rank on some "this my house" shit.

Oh Danny Boy mos def stole this on that war of words w/ Franco bout the porn. I haven't laughed that hard in a long time. The breast-feeding baby comment was killer too.

& I won't be mad if they wanna start workin on that Pineapple Express sequel either

Like other above me have said, but I want to state again due to the rarity, the movie doesn't drop-off at any point.

Just really funny and balanced itself extremely well in terms of not turning into one of those films just taking shots at young Hollywood...for everyone of those, you had 4-5 lines of just ridiculousness.

I could spend awhile picking out hilarious stuff but to save myself the time...just want to pick out Baruchel as being a great front man, Mcbride, Cera, and the Franco/Mcbride cum argument as pure gold.

Best comedy I've seen in awhile.

McBride was pure heat.

Am I the only one who thought the demon chasing Jay and Craig through the empty house sequence was legitimately good? Like, that would've been at home in a well-made supernatural action/horror thriller.

And even though the movie felt a little long, I probably could've had another 10-15 minutes of the party at the beginning.

Emma Watson should have come back later in the movie.

I read that she was supposed to come back at the end to save them from the cannibals, but apparently the movie was too raunchy for her and she checked out after filming the early scenes.

Honestly I think they should have tried to recast it or something, because the way it is, her scenes just feel thrown in. Hermione saving the day at the end might have made me like this movie just a little bit more. It was good, but that would have made it better.

It doesn't add much from a narrative perspective, but it's not like this movie's appeal is rooted in its airtight narrative anyway.

And the whole "Hermione robbed us and took off" bit was hilarious.

I just thought that it seemed to set things up for a surprise return at the end, which IMO would have made for a slightly better movie.

It might have undercut the whole men as potential rapists thing, which made that bit so funny.

I was fine with her never coming back, personally.

That sequence was almost too much. I have not laughed that hard in a very long time.

The cum bit
Hill with the revolver
Cera being a coke fiend
Hermynie and the rapey vibe bit
Robinson's classic one liners

I laughed a lot and when I saw the run time was near two hours I thought it was gunna lose steam, but nope! Funny moments throughout

There's a lot to enjoy in this flick.
However, the ending felt like they were trying too hard to be funny.
I get the whole Whitney "I will always love you" campiness. The Backstreet Boys dance sequence seemed really silly. Didn't really laugh at that. But I get it.
The beginning to the middle (when Danny McBride tried to shoot them all) was awesome.
I'll watch it again just for the first hour.

Folks talk alot of shit about rhi-rhi but between this, SNL and some of her tweets she seems to have a wicked sense of humor.

Love that they played most of the horror/disaster elements straight, to let the comedy be reactionary rather than contrived (the ending was a little obvious though) - the chase through the house legit scared me.
