Agreed. I AZ is like Penny Hardaway of rap.

Chrissette Michelle should of blown up big time especially with the exposure she gets. But I feel she doesn't know who she is an artist.

Right now, most people have heard of her thanks to the commercial she did for Sonos. Shit had people all over googling it (same effect it had for The Cool Kids' Rhapsody commercial).

Wonder if that ever translated into record sales.

great, probably too old school to fit trendy ass music that people seem to prefer, and she came riiiiight as "Neo-Soul" was dying out...but came through Snoop, so maybe it just wasn't the right angle.

the Paid the cost bootleg called "Whatever." It was produced by Michaelangelo, Battlecat's protege at the time who also did Faith Evans "You gets no love"

Like you said, she has that Old School Soulful Sangin type vibe, and one thing about Snoop he still always keeps those elements in his music..Even when Snoop was young he was an old soul so I can see Snoop bringing LeToyia out...I can't think of anybody else who would have BUT Snoop, honestly...

Problem is she is just too soulful for the modern trends of the last 10 years, unfortunately. Especially with what I feel is the steady stripping of actual soulfulness away from black music specifically the last couple years (but thats another conversation).

Maybe LaToyia could have made some headway with better song material given to her..she probably would have hit in that Jennifer Hudson, Fantasia type of way, I guess...

Im glad she missed out on Neo-Soul. Latoyia Williams is more 'raw soul' to me...she would have been too soulful for Neo Soul

Im a fan though..I would love to see someone like a Raphael Saadiq, or Late Registration era Kanye produce her (she would have smashed a song like Alicia Key's "You Don't Know").

Sound wise, it even matched up. If she coulda had some of those 2002 Quik, Battlecat, Saadiq, Soopafly type of beats??? Along with Hi-Tek, who Snoop was working with a lot at the time? Man....yeah. I'm still mad the album never came out. I heard a few other songs that weren't released, and they weren't groundbreaking, but what you would expect from her and a Soopafly style of production.

Yeaaa I can see that. Where it was like commercial that sampled Soul.

Whoa, soon as you said Kanye I said "You don't know my name." Shit, she'd rape ALL Alicia Keys songs, like "Unbreakable."

He might've popped off, but I don't think anyone expected Jeezy to take off like that.

It's funny that Nappy Afro and this site mentioned JB on some milk carton shit.

it's cool...

it rely's heavily on female R&B singers... and that is a worse off genre than rap right now...

it's basically a rotating #1 at the top of urban radio. There is ever only one... Kelly, keri, Keisha etc...

I am waiting to see if a female can run with the Frank/Weeknd, Archetype .. Jhene Aiko is close but she doesn't have the "depth".. at least she's not showing it yet..

OR... I'll do it myself..
