the whole Woody Allen puppet show he has going on trying to brand "Andy Esperanza Badu" into something that is more legit than the Tamar, or Bria Valente 'John Starks bricks' he's put up in the last 12 years is further indicative of how dismal his creativity is, and how eager he is to still be "relevant" in some way in today's bizarro music industry.

Pretty much. "Fence of Turds" is how I would describe Prince's latest antics (and I don't even dislike stuff like 20ten or this song, really, but in general, the only folks who would check for the lion's share of the reinvented Vanity Wheel material he's been pushing as of late prolly write work emails in the aforementioned Princebonics).
For as much as he says he's not trying to party like it's 1999, he certainly has been partying like it's still 1982 when it comes to the business model.

His business model seems to be working for him, at least he is not killing himself to put on a tour to compete with a supposed GOAT from the late 80's, or showing some wrinkled up tits and claim that it is for political relevance - it would seem his model is working for what he wants to do

Prince is coasting on the past like a muhfucka with this shit. I dunno man, maybe he should take more time between releases to come up with something more potent, but this is throwaway material, imo. He *has* to be able to do better than this. I understand he's not 25 anymore and not gung-ho about blowing minds anymore, but damn dude. There has to be better music laying around Paisley Park somewhere. The man is too talented for this.

im sure i saw a live version that was much better somewhere a while back.
its the production that ruins it the most. why does prince still try and use commercial pop production?
its time to leave that stuff alone imo. he should also also stop quoting his old songs (that synth riff in RNR love affair is basically him saying 'please remember what i used to make') and remember that he is a heritage act now. not that he couldnt make some interesting new music, he def could, but trying to chase the pop dollar, for him at this point - IN 2012 - its not the way forward. not unless he calls in some outside help.
prince should either just make prince music (but NOT trying to sound like its still 1983), or get someone outside to help him make a hit, if thats what he really wants. id prefer if he made something that took a few risks on record - esp as only a few people care about what he makes at this point, its all about the live show for him now - but i could tolerate prince doing an all out attempt to get in the charts again and working with red one or whoever if it was actually convincing.
then again, i think id prefer if prince just stopped releasing new music. its like he cant stop recording now, his sense of quality control, or idea of what people want from him at this stage, is totally shot.
