I used to be invested in proving a mf wrong, or convincing them of my point of view.

Now, I want to have conversations, and I pay attention, if I catch you equivocating, or using circular logic, rhetorical tricks - I just make a note and try not to engage with you again.

Now our arguments, and flame throwing is what made this place so live, but we kinda off that shit now.

Or at least I am. I kinda look at all of y'all as my cousins. I could probably learn from shit from y'all, y'all could prolly learn some shit from me. Either way, we fam, I keep it respectful.

while I would chime in sometimes in the early years, I was mostly lurking and laughing or smh.

now I talk a bit more.

there's a lot that can be learned by sitting and watching.

I will not argue one single thing on these boards like I did 20 years ago. I watch others, see how they're thinking, and just keep moving with what I believe in silence.

I'm looking for the good. I want stories. I want jokes. I want to read about people who went through some bad stuff and came out aight on the other side. I want to laugh about how wrong I/we/somebody was BEFORE about something but I/we/somebody 'gets it' now.

I want to make sure I don't completely fade away from newer music. I want to get put on still.

I knew many of us were connected by the music and artist then but now I check in to see ‘who still all over there’.

Less cussing and fussing online, and just wondering how we as a collective of now old and mid-old heads can advance beyond the platform into the real world. Say for instance, we should have included boards that represent our growth ie real estate, community outreach, job & freelance gigs etc etc. I don’t know if it would up the viewership but I do think we’ve all grown beyond just chatty partying on our keyboards.

Jobs, music gear, clothes, events.

A lot of arguing and debating I used to do was probably rooted in insecurity, and wanting to get my point across and 'prove' something. Shit seems so childish now. Somewhere along the way I've learned to stop taking myself so seriously. I'll still drop my oddball points-of-view into a post, but it's just to share now.

I really appreciate y'all. OKP is like the only place on the Internet right now where I feel free to discuss certain things, and even be vulnerable in discussion. I really enjoy reading the other perspectives, ideas and life updates from OKPs.

Now I'm like an old man

i lost that login and people started called me Promo in the circles i ran in around 2000/2001 and i been that since.

so, a lot has changed. i wish i had the irrational self confidence i have now, back then.

self confidence is everything man, i tell you.

also, i'd echo what many have already said - i've gained a level of maturity that comes with age and experience. i won't say i'm above going back n forth with folks on here, cuz that'd be a lie, but i do it FAR less. i realize we all get stuck in our ways, and at almost 50 years old, i'm probably not going to "argue down" another 50 year old, lol.

at this point, my presence here is to learn where possible and to share music with y'all becuase i work hard to keep up with new music and while i know a lot of "old heads" don't like much new stuff, there is still good new music being made.

also, i have a wife, a kid (3 if you count the 2 nieces we raised), a business, etc. i've lost my mom and countless relatives. i got gray hairs and aches and pains, lol. i got regrets (gotta learn to live with em (c) Jigga).

all that said, i'm happy this place is still around and there's still some folks here to discourse with.
