Hardcore jazz listeners won’t take him seriously. Casual fans just might though.

In response to Reply # 5

dont know how to feel about this. i dont know if ive heard of kev brown before. from what i see hes a producer and rapper. the beats are pretty good on this but its such a weird format.

i dont think any of the beats are great enough for me to want to listen to them repeatedly. the tracks with verses are cool but i dont know if i will want to keep listening to them.

i dont know if this is how he always does projects but i wish there was an easier/more cohesive theme to it. this kind of just sounded like beats with some verses on them. not bad, not used to the format. might like it more with time.

lol jk. Kev Brown is dope, but I agree this one feels a little random and disjointed. Most of his releases are basically just beat tapes though. Check out Songs Without Words Vol 1, Brazil Dedication and Brown Album.

lol i couldnt quite think of how explain what i meant.

i wanted to say it sounded like someone decided to just rap over some songs off of donuts but thought that could be taken many different ways.

i am interested in listening to more of his stuff so i appreciate the recommendation.

i'm a fan of his work.

and sure, at first he sounds like ghost but thats where it all ends.

I don't even think about that when I'm listening.

The only bad thing Bronson did was come at Ghost. If he kept his yap shut more people would be fucking with him.

I can listen to him and I don't have that sense of "eww dude, why the fuck you telling me this shit?" I get when I listen to a lot of new rappers when they start talking about sloppy toppy or how much money they got or how famous they are.

he brings fun back to listening to lyrics and he owns up to be an Albanian fat boy who loves to eat.

He'll probably never be great, but he does what he does (rap about eating fine food, having sex and obviously fake meetings with actors/athletes) well. I still crack up at the image of him putting a gun in Patrick Ewing's face and then cartwheeling away.

kinda in the Roc Marciano lane in that he will always have a solid base but hes not poised to be a mainstream person and thats completely great.

I still go back to his first few albums (Dr. Lecter, Well Done, Bon Appetit, Blue Chips) and they hold up really well. Statik Selektah did a lot of the production early on and it's that classic New York sound I've always loved.

His last few have been a little hit-or-miss. Kind of all over the place, style-wise. but there have been some banger singles and he's always entertaining to me.

Again, I'm biased cuz I was raised on Wu-Tang era NY rap, but I think Action is always worth a listen.

im a fan

the whole album is dope, if i have to pick some favorites it would be:

I usually have to search the actual genre the day of the release. It will require some extra digging, but it will keep you abreast of what’s coming out for that particular week.
