"ballin on a budget"

i know i know i know: y'all spend crazy money to buy the best of the best.

the coat you're wearing today is white panda. Hulk Hogan choked one out for you in China for your birthday. and it's reversible & the other side is bald eagle. and while we debate soy vs almond vs cow, you only drink the finest breast milks.

i know all that.

but indulge me anyway.

imma put up a dollar amount and an item and somebody comment on the best you can buy for that amount.

checking out the site now it looks like they've raised some of their prices accordingly, but it looks like you can still get a solid 100% wool suit for $400.

Outside of that, id wait for end of season online sales at shit like mens warehouse/macys...you can get an 'alright' suit for 100 bucks or so and you can spend another 100 on a real tailor to make it look like a million bucks.

They have them at end-of-season sales once in a blue moon and also at Burlington Coat Factory. The ones I got were all under $500 even with alterations, two made in Canada, one made in Italy (!). All very nice quality and have held up great.

If I remember correctly. This was a while back. I have since seen one or two at the L.A. area ones but they are kind of ghetto, in outlet malls and need-to-be-renovated strip malls. The one in Philly was @ 8th and Market.

inseam is length. 34 inseam is for someone around 6'2-6'4

Got some $198 RLs for under $50 though they turned out to fit poorly. They have the $100-$125 ones for like $30-$40 pretty regularly, ask the seller for detailed measurements.

I am used to asking for measurements and taking them from buying jerseys, I guess, as the sizing (particularly for hockey) is wildly inconsistent across eras and manufacturers. Same thing with jeans, I ask for measurements at the thigh, calf and waist, never steers me wrong.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I did this for years with the gap jeans I had and really liked that had a 36 inch inseam (good for wearing with heels) until the online overstock ran out a few years after they discontinued them.

I was getting them nwt yrs after gap stopped making them tho

even then with taxes and stuff the out-the-door price is probably more and you get some shit with a manual transmission and windows that require a rube goldberg machine to move up and down.

even at that, 24K for a full size is pretty rare. i think even the camry is slightly more than that now, and that's been the best mid-sized value for a long time.

at least to start. that's base model for the toyota and the honda.

The Sonatas and Passat's I think come with some decent options around that range.

If you mean full size as in big ass car/big body benz type of sedan, like the other posters said- dream on or go to the used car lot.

In response to Reply # 45

Full size would be the Cadillac XTS, BMW 7-series, Mercedes S-Class, Audi A8, or the Jaguar XJ.

The Caprice based Impala, Buick Roadmaster, Cadillac DTS, and Ford Crown Victoria and Lincoln Town Car are all full sized cars.

So that was my initial thought. I got a friend who has a corolla and wants to upgrade to a full size car in her words, but she's really referring to mid-size sedans.

and like i said in my post, the bigger cars are mostly out of that range.....thanks for pointing out specific models though.

In response to Reply # 12

The trip tip is definitely a California thing as I hadn't seen it much since moving out here. I just made one last weekend. I marinade it stout and a bunch of spices overnight then cook it as they recommend in this article
http://www.seriouseats.com/2012/05/the-best-inexpensive-steak-for-the-grill-part-5-tri-tip-santa-maria-steak.html

The other 2 cuts, I have only been able to find at a butcher store. The baseball cut is similar to a filet but cheaper.

The Denver steak has a lot flavor and was nice and juicy the last time I cooked one:

I realize they don't have anything right now, but it's apparently Meermin's eBay account (thanks JF and maybe a few other people on here) and they offer seconds with really mild defects and also brand new shoes that aren't styles currently offered at their stores or on their website at the moment.

$150 is a tough price point. Go up a little bit and you have more options.

the cole haan stuff even uses nike technology (nike owns them) such as air, zoom air and lunarlon foam. i find that kind of gimmicky, sometimes it works though. clarks use vibram and other such technologies, i find them to be very comfortable whether they are like that, crepe-soled and even some of the harder rubber soles.

In response to Reply # 65

internationally two one-way tickets is almost always a great way to pay 50% more, but domestically it can save you money. kayak even does it automatically sometimes ("hacker fares") but you can find even more deals by searching yourself.

everything is about appearing to be successful while being broke as shit.

Cop that $279-$299/month for a 3-series lease and split the rent on an expensive condo in a nice area of the city and you got yourself a $30k baller in the making.

There's some STEALS available at the thrifts if one is willing to keep checking the store regularly.

with anything i need. it depends on your size. I do find very expensive things (i don't need) and/or things that don't fit me all the time.

but, when i needed a pair of dark skinny jeans ina size 2 and a pair of perfect black flats this fall i bought new.

suits and pants and a lot of the things people are talking about in this post, you'd be hard to thrift in perfect condition in your size.

While they're not CHEAP, Kimpton rooms, service and amenities are nicer than hotels that cost twice as much. It truly is BALLING on a budget.

only think i like is their robes.

I think you can find comparably priced 4+star hotels.
