a strictly casual/sexual relationship (or even commitment without marriage) is way easier to manage than marriage

a lot of people have this fantasy of marriage. weddings are beautiful, marriages are endless work. work that leaves you without energy for daily sex

im in a relatively happy thing. but it's far more work than just dating someone and finding love is the easy part. your whole LIFE becomes dictated by putting someone else's concerns before your own and that's just for starters

putting someone's concerns before your own is easier for some folks than others. marriage is easier the more selfless you and your spouse are. so it really does depend on the people involved, not marriage in and of itself.

and i say that as someone who is stingy with her time and personal space. I don't feel like i "work" at being married (and i checked with my husband to make sure i'm a good wife to him)

I mean yes, i do take his feelings into consideration. i do think about his needs when i make decisions. But that's not like OMG THIS IS SO HARD for me. The easy part of marriage is that i can take him into consideration because i know him so well. sometimes i overthink things and miss the mark, but for the most part i know who he is well enough to know what his feelings are. and when i don't know, i ask.

As far as sex goes in marriage, i think it can become taken for granted. when you're dating someone, you spend time with them and the culminating activity of that time spent tends to be sex. in marriage, you're always with the person even if you're not up under one another so it can get put off. like i'll just go to bed early tonight cuz i can get some tomorrow. the problem is when tomorrow becomes next week or when people start withholding physical intimacy cuz they're angry/resentful... but that's just my two cents

but for me conflicting schedules and general moods (I had a long day at work, I dont feel like it) play a part
