i remember watching this surreal epic movie-like TV show for 2 seasons where it seemed like Dex was gonna get fucked over pretty much every.single.episode. how the FUCK did it get whittled down into this fine paste of boringness? the Lithgow season was a slight return to form, but...just...how?

It's that simple really. While the last few years may not have made for great tv, the way they milked every ounce out of this show has been brilliant really. Had they gone one more season without moving the Dex/Deb story forward I would have given up on it.... hell I almost did last year. But now they got me coming back just to see how this thing wraps up. Bottom line is Showtime won.

And enjoyed every one. I think anyone who thinks the show 'fell off' after Season 1 or 2 just stopped getting excited about it...IMO its been the same show all along. Season 1 and 2 are easily just as ridiculous as the others. Keeping Doakes locked up in a cage, the absurd characters of Lila and Paul were "magic epic TV" but everyone hated Lumen and Miguel? Okay. If anything, I like the show better without Rita...she was my least favorite character.

two more random things:

-I wish Lundy hadn't been killed off, he was a great character.

-Quinn was really good in seasons 4-5

-Whose car is it that Dexter totals and leaves behind at the end of Season 5? Wouldn't that trace him to the scene of Jordan Chase's murder? Does that just go completely unexplained?

- TSA would've definitely needed to see that prescription for that "insulin" oh and how in the holy fuck is dude literally in "secure" part of the airport with no cameras anywhere. Lazy and convenient writing i tell you. I get it though, we don't care about logic we just want to see people get sliced.

Louis dying was SO anticlimatic. After almost an entire season of him seeming to know about Dexter, being a creepy collector, being the 2nd of Masuka's corrupted interns, he was all set up to be either a big villain or major player in the season...and he randomly goes out like that? Really disappointing IMO. And he has no connection to the other intern? No explanation of why he initially was obsessed with Dexter before Dexter shit on his Serial Killer video game? Most exciting it has been since Arthur Mitchell was bleeding
them out and asking them politely to jump from tall buildings!


The only criticism of this season that I agree with is the
whole Dex vs The-head-of-the-Russian-Mafia guy. It really
doesn't matter how slick and how cold Dex is as a killer. No
solo blood luster of any caliber is outsmarting, out-sociopathing,
or out-maneuvering global gangsters of this scale. It's just
not happening. However, being that they are setting up next
year's series finally, this little game of cat and mouse will
likely play into how the story ends for our lovable collector
of blood slides.

Oh, and uhm yeah, where the fuck is Harrison?

Lastly, I will have erotic dreams of Hannah McKay riding me

I don't think the show is as bad as it was season 5, but it's just "there." You're main threat got killed by an "also ran" character. And then this week, they killed him in a stupid scene (seriously.... how did Angel make it this far as a cop? Because he's the stupidest most gullible person on Television). Laguerta and Matthews have pretty much figured out that Dex is the BHB, but does any of that seem like a threat/concern? They've taken any and all tension out of the show with 3 episodes to spare this season. I hope they wrap this shit up nice next year, because right now... I could probably walk away and not feel like I missed anything.

that was a fantastic episode
can't wait to see the full conversation next week between Mathews and Dexter
I'm thinking Mathews might have been telling LaGuerta to back off because he ALREADY KNOWS its Dexter, he was close with Harry, maybe Harry told him the deal
Hannah breaking down in front of her father, making the viewer feel sympathetic toward her even though she's a killer
Quinn killing that scumbag Kashka dude out of being heated he was slapping of Nadia
They wrapped up the Arsonist plotline a bit quick, but the scene of him blasting those people on the bus was nuts
All the dialogue about Dexter finally taking responsibility isn't the first time that kinda thing has been thrown out, but he finally owned it
I enjoyed it from beginning to end, there was no part of it that dragged or made me cringe at all

they are setting up the end of this season to wrap up everything next season...personally it feels like to me they are rushing through story lines.

everyone is dying real quick. Dexter is just killing to be killing.
Hannah...she's not great to me. Like I understand why Dexter likes her and she's better than Deb but if she wasn't in the story, nothing would be missing. she doesn't really add much to me.

Everything is just wrapping up too neatly...and there isn't any real follow up as of right now. Fine.

This is not to say this season is bad...it's serving it's purpose. I still watch, I don't think it sucks...it's just that you can easily miss an episode of this season, come back, and not truly be confused.

because like others have mentioned, there is no real impending threat or overarching story.

Isaac was the big bad... then he was killed.

Then we are introduced to a new serial killer.... and wrapped that up in two episodes.

The season has been more about Dex's relationship with Deb and Hannah... but there's not much hanging over his head like all previous seasons. Again, like someone said, hes just killing to kill.

The Bay Harbor Butcher angle is big... but with next season being the last, it seems clear that it will spill over to next season and be the main closing arc of the show.

Now that Dex killed Hannah's dad, to protect her banana, and Deb out to get Hannah, I wouldnt be surprised if Hannah kills (or at least attempts to kill) Deb, thinking she's protecting Dex. That would be a huge way to end the season.

That would be an interesting/believable angle. I could see
her going after Deb on some "returning the favour" shit.

Here's my theory, though: I think former Chief Matthews, having
been such close friends with Dexter's father, might have actually
known something about Dexter's dark passenger this entire time.
Perhaps Harry consulted with him about it as Dex was growning
up. He may just reveal this to Dexter and let him know that
Laguerta is catching his scent. I think when Dex finds out about
this and he tells Hannah, Laguerta may be the one whose life is
in jeopardy. Dex won't want to do it, so I think Hannah may take
this kill on behind his back. Also adding to this angle, Matthews
desperately wants his job as Chief back. Once he helps Laguerta
and she helps him get reinstated in the police force (as per
their working agreement), he may turn a blind eye to anything
that happens to her since she's occupying his old position.

Next week, I figure Dexter finds out what Deb did, and has to weigh Deb, the longest, most meaningful relationship of his life, against what Deb *did*, which was effectively trick Dexter into giving up the only shot at a happy future he's ever had. He's gonna be maaaad.

The only reason I said 90% in the subject is that there's about a 10% chance that the meth-head witness that Deb was going to visit is the one who actually poisoned her, out of some fucked up loyalty to Hannah. Don't know how the logistics of that would work out, but fuck it, it's Dexter.

Either way, there's 0% chance that Hannah actually poisoned Deb. I expect the finale to be some big fucking moments between Deb and Dex when he realizes what she did.

Where they're going with the Bay Harbor Butcher story, I don't know. Seems pretty obvious that they need to leave that on the table for the last season, but maybe they'll surprise us.
