HoopWorld is a very arcadish basket ball (or basket brawl) game that will be released on Xbox Live Arcade next spring. The developers have released these renders of the levels along with some artworks. The quality of these is quite surprising considering this game will cost only 1200 points...
Naked Sky Entertainment announced today that RoboBlitz will be available to gamers through the Xbox Live Arcade on Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft in Spring 2006. RoboBlitz is a fast-paced action game featuring puzzle-solving and unique physics-based weapons. Players blast through 15+ levels of high-intensity action as Blitz, a multi-talented robot on a mission to save its factory from a band of invading mechanical brains.
"With RoboBlitz, Naked Sky brings to Xbox Live Arcade an enjoyable action title combined with imaginative design," said Ross Erickson, Xbox Live Arcade Games Portfolio Manager. RoboHordes was the first application to use the Unreal Engine 3 at a playable frame rate.
RoboBlitz combines the power of the Unreal Engine 3 and Ageia PhysX to deliver a new gaming experience. The core gameplay is supported by advanced physics simulation, which offers players a world built entirely from the latest in game technology and robot control theory. Remarkably, RoboBlitz does all this while having a total download size under 50MB, thereby enabling its distribution via Xbox Live Arcade.

Thanks to a few choice words delivered from Peter Moore at CES the other day, we all know that Street Fighter II’ Hyper Fighting will be making its way to the Xbox 360's Live Arcade "in early 2006." What we didn't know was the extent to which the coin-op classic would be emulating its arcade roots in the process.
The "Quarter Match" system will follow up on the Live-lobby efforts of original-Xbox title Dead or Alive Ultimate, staging a spectator mode where interested parties can "use a 'virtual quarter' to 'buy into' heated two player matches," and to check out potential friends and rivals alike. What really has SF aficionados stoked, however, is the free "feature-limited" demo planned for download on Live, which will allow players to try out "two playable characters for one match" -- just the thing to lure 6-button fighting fans back into the fold. (Ken or Ryu vs. Chun-Li, anyone?)
Street Fighter Anniversary Collection added online play, while Capcom Classics Collection restored Hyper gameplay balance and backgrounds (two titles notably still absent from the official 360 BC list), but this latest iteration on Live puts the best elements all together, and sounds like the "next-gen" arcade experience (albeit on a console) that Capcom fighting fans have long been waiting for. Running from the hard drive can only help with load times and disappearing-sound issues. If they can solve any all-too-current-gen issues with lag online, there oughtta be a remarkably potent old-school alternative to the newest 3D fight fests being offered on Microsoft's latest machine.
The rest of the announced features are detailed on Capcom's official site, but the Live Arcade manager quoted seemed to put it best: "Offering this flagship title in Xbox Live Arcade... is the answer to many gamers' dreams, including mine." So how long until Konami and Sega's beat-em-ups join the fray? Whether on one or all the next-gen consoles, we wanna see more of the old (and good) stuff. Here's to a refreshing first step... 'cuz it's about time. Fight!

when you first download an arcade game, it gets registered to your gamertag *and* your specific 360 system. That way, anyone on that system can play the full version, no matter what profile.
But if something happens to that system and it's replaced, you can still play the game as long as you're signed in under the original gamertag that downloaded it. Otherwise, you're stuck with the trial version.
I think you can call MS and complain to them and get that changed to your new system so that you don't have to be signed in to play them.

February 15, 2006 - If there's anything all humans can agree on, it's that explosions look cool. From a gamer's perspective, it's even better when you create those explosions. That's exactly what THQ's The Outfit promises to deliver in a big way, allowing you to practically level entire cities with an assortment of stationary guns, tanks and jeeps that can be quickly dropped into battle at any time.
Instead of spouting off with the usual drivel about game modes and whatnot, we thought we'd put some substantive information into this update. There's a free multiplayer demo coming out on the Xbox 360 Live Marketplace on March 3. In it, players will be able to engage in frantic online battles with up to eight players.
Once in a match you'll be able to choose either the Axis or Allies, choose one of three playable squad leaders on either side and then blow the crap out of each other. Specifically, the action will take place on a map called Estate Assault and will be set in the Strategic Victory game mode. The Allies start in a French villa across a river from the Axis headquarters. Your goal will be to capture certain areas on the map so you can earn Field Units (F.U.s) that are used to call in machine gun nests, half-tracks and airstrikes, among many other destructive options.
This will only be a sample of what the full retail version offers for multiplayer, but it should definitely be a great way to get a feel for The Outfit's frantic online play. While you're waiting for the demo, check out the HD trailer we just posted in our video section, as well as a full-sized screen of The Outfit's custom faceplate on the image page.

We're playing nil pass 2 up to 500, right? Ok, this dude asks me if I could go nil. I said cool. I'm passing you 1 definite and 1 possible, right? He says cool. I send him the Ace of spades and the Ace of clubs. He sends me back the King of clubs and the 10 of spades. I'm like "what the fuck?" but was like cool, I can still work the nil cuz I have no other spades and no other face cards. I throw out the King of clubs as the very first card of the match knowing that my partner has the Ace. This fool throws out the 8 of clubs. I couldn't do shit but laugh as we lost the nil. I'm like sonamabitch. lol

I see this shit too often so much I stop playing online with folk I dont know. I had one chic aske me to cover her NIL. I said a'ight but send me something good. she sends me the King & Ace of spades. As the hand goes on, I start cutting hearts, so she throws off the Ace, King, Queen & Jack of hearts and Im like WTF? At the end of the match when spades are being played she plays the Ace & King of Clubs....again WTF!?!. So I asked her how many hearts did she have? her: 5 me: you had the Ace, King, Queen & Jack of hearts and you bid NIL? her: yes, but I only had 2 spades. me: THE ACE & KING OF SPADES!?! thats not abad 2 to have and correct me if Im wrong but you also had the Ace & King of clubs too? her: yes (by that time the entire table was laughing at her) her: well we got NIL whats the problem? me: you couldve bidded that hand and got more than what that NIL was worth

The demos and E3 downloads have been great but XBox Live Arcade has been hugely disappointing to me. I haven't picked up Hardwood Spades yet but other than that I thought there would be WAY more games then this.
This is laughable and they will get ethered by Nintendo's virtual console.
Though the whole other aspect of Xbox Live is a whole 'nother story...

But we've been sitting here with roughly the same number of games since launch. A couple of little bullshit titles here and there but the way XBLA was marketed by the XBOX team, we were supposed to have a grillion classic games. So much so that it would make us forget about Nintendo's virtual console.
On the classic arcade section, we've been sitting on the likes of Joust, Smash TV and fucking Gauntlet forever. Were are the Yi Ar Kung Fu's, the Ikari Warriors?

I just talked 'e' the Xbox Live Director of Operations (his team is working on today's maintenance) and I am happy to report that things are progressing along nicely. I don't have an ETA when the service will come back online, or rather he would not give me one. The good news is that I am able to share tomorrow's Arcade title: 'Lumines Live!'
Since I can't link to the 'Lumines Live!' page on Xbox.com, here are some details about the game:

The full version of the game will be 1200 points. Plus an optional pack for 600 points will also be available that will allow gamers to change their music scene as well as choose from 22 new skins. November 28, 2006 - It's been a long time in the making, but Texas Hold 'em is finally getting an upgrade. Xbox Live guru Major Nelson revealed a slew of fixes to improve Hold 'em. The automated update will occur early Wednesday.
Among the major improvements are sped-up gameplay, an "Away" mode that automatically folds all hands until the player returns, blinds restructured to match the stakes, new Leaderboard displays and removal of online exploits to prevent cheating.
The upgrade does not include Vision Camera support, which instead will come early next year.
