I know Larry Bird isn't with them any more, but it seems like culturally the sort of thing Bird would be about. And Boston firsts after they sign Gordon Hayward and acquire Paul George would be late firsts, or to put it another way over-paid, guaranteed 2nd rounders.
If you like Oladipo and you like Sabonis -- both of whom might be starters over a long span in the NBA -- proven talent on the floor is better than a bird in hand a 7th or 8th man who happens to make nice money. AND you send Paul George to a place where you only face him twice a year.
I think it's so weird how people are saying this is bad for Indiana. They got TWO NBA players, both young, one of whom is on a favorable rookie deal who they can develop. Blazers twitter is saying 'Portland had a better offer', too, which is obviously stupid. Evan Turner and Meyers Leonard is a better offer? Allen Crabbe (who might have a trade kicker on his already bloated salary) and Noah Vonleh? No, no combination of that crap is better. Indiana did well here.
