Boston got 10,000 first round picks and Butler and PG just left their conference and they did nothing while CP3s swapped teams..

unreal...

2616231, Man, LOL @ anyone thinking Bron would go West.
Posted by Frank Longo, Fri Jun-30-17 09:06 PM
Also, if I'm Boston or Washington, I'm trading any and all expendable future assets to win NOW. This is your best shot to beat Cleveland and make a run at the Finals. Go now now now.
2616258, The NBA should legit change the format
Posted by Stadiq, Fri Jun-30-17 10:02 PM

And I'm a traditionalist, but this sh!t isn't
even close to interesting.

With Butler and PG going west, who
make up the east top 5? Even top 12?

Or lost the too 20 players in the league
and list their conference.

Lowry goes to minny, millsap to the suns,
and Hayward stays?? Lebron can just sit
until the conference finals and use them
as a warmup for the warriors.

Even if not, he still probably could.

Crazy.

2616227, Ideal trading spot. Team will be 3rd or 4th best in the West
Posted by LA2Philly, Fri Jun-30-17 09:01 PM
Rather than a lock for the ECF or Finals. Medina reported 2 days ago that Pritchard wouldn't come off BI or Zo so the FO was content w waiting.
2616237, Why are these dudes not tryna build something in the East?!
Posted by Hitokiri, Fri Jun-30-17 09:12 PM
Why make it harder on yourself?
2616238, I'm just waiting for a rational explanation..
Posted by LegacyNS, Fri Jun-30-17 09:14 PM
So... No one goes to Boston? Or Washington? Or Atlanta? Or Toronto? Hell or even to Milwaukee..

2616261, ESPN's people say Indy GM'd rather make WC harder than help EC
Posted by Nodima, Fri Jun-30-17 10:17 PM
especially if there's a chance PG goes to LA in a year anyway, might as well put him in that conference right now rather not give him a shot to really enjoy life in Cleveland or Boston and stand in Indy's way for years to come if he decides not to go to LA.

2616271, but, who can answer that man?...
Posted by Dstl1, Fri Jun-30-17 10:54 PM
last year, KD met with the Celtics. He could have gone to Boston and teamed up with IT. They would have instantly been the second best team in the East and given CLE a run, IMO. He chose to stay in the West and go to the team that was just in the Finals. Why?
2616306, second? thats...deferential of you lol
Posted by cgonz00cc, Fri Jun-30-17 11:55 PM
thats THE best team in the East...easily
2616328, Cmon its obvious why durant stayed west

2616268, All-Star game will be interesting...lots of West snubs
Posted by icecold21, Fri Jun-30-17 10:37 PM
and some bullshit on the East

I know FAgency is just starting but for the moment I can't ever remember the conferences being this unbalanced
2616270, Time to get rid of conferences
Posted by Stadiq, Fri Jun-30-17 10:53 PM

I mean, not sure how the all star game would
work (draft??) but as far as the playoffs go??

It's depressing because if tradition, but the
NBA and fans need to get real.

The East is legit a junior league.

How many top nba players have to be listed
before you hit 10 in the east???

30? 35?

Unreal

2616274, regular season MVP and Finals MVP team captains (or runners up if overlap)
Posted by Nodima, Fri Jun-30-17 11:08 PM
line all the players up on the court and bounce pass for picks like an elementary school lineup when the P.E. coach ran out of ideas for the week

Posted by Cenario, Sat Jul-01-17 08:51 AM
A while now.

I cant imagine looking at standings with just one list of30 teams lol.

2616310, According to ESPN's #NBARank
Posted by obsidianchrysalis, Sat Jul-01-17 12:19 AM
Only one player of the top 14 listed in their NBA Rankings, LeBron, plays in the Eastern Conference.

2616330, 2nd biggest reason I'm buying Hayward to Boston
Posted by celery77, Sat Jul-01-17 09:25 AM
why re-up in the West when you can flip conferences and just play against Lebron who, by the way, was the #2 seed last year?

1st reason is Brad Stevens, duh.
2616331, If hayward wanna win, go to Boston
Posted by Cenario, Sat Jul-01-17 09:28 AM
I wouldnt rule out miami as a destination tho.

I read that hes pushing for hill to re siign so hed stay tho
2616333, supposedly the Rubio flip was to make Hayward happy
Posted by celery77, Sat Jul-01-17 09:33 AM
look, I don't think Gordon can just turn his back on the fan base he built in Utah and ink a deal at 12:01am. He can do the song and dance and give Utah a meeting and blah blah blah and then, you're right, he'll choose between his college coach and South Beach.

But Boston is closer. They can convince him Finals NEXT YEAR if he goes there. Miami has to sell him 'we THINK we can be a top four seed if you come here.'
2616290, I am leaning toward the future if these reports are accurate
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Fri Jun-30-17 11:26 PM
If it's true that Boston offered three firsts, Crowder and another starter, then you have to figure that PG wouldn't extend in Boston. Now, does OKC paying less mean they paid it as a rental or that he would extend there?

For OKC, this could still be a W even if PG doesn't re-sign. As long as Russy re-signs--which isn't as certain was the "will sign three-year extension" post made it out to be--then it's still a win. Also Oladipo's contract kind of sucked.
2616332, don't you think Indy mighta had a 'not in our conference' rule?
Posted by celery77, Sat Jul-01-17 09:31 AM
I know Larry Bird isn't with them any more, but it seems like culturally the sort of thing Bird would be about. And Boston firsts after they sign Gordon Hayward and acquire Paul George would be late firsts, or to put it another way over-paid, guaranteed 2nd rounders.

If you like Oladipo and you like Sabonis -- both of whom might be starters over a long span in the NBA -- proven talent on the floor is better than a bird in hand a 7th or 8th man who happens to make nice money. AND you send Paul George to a place where you only face him twice a year.

I think it's so weird how people are saying this is bad for Indiana. They got TWO NBA players, both young, one of whom is on a favorable rookie deal who they can develop. Blazers twitter is saying 'Portland had a better offer', too, which is obviously stupid. Evan Turner and Meyers Leonard is a better offer? Allen Crabbe (who might have a trade kicker on his already bloated salary) and Noah Vonleh? No, no combination of that crap is better. Indiana did well here.
2616371, But Indy isn't a contender, and won't be
Posted by Stadiq, Sat Jul-01-17 02:30 PM
For a long time...so what's the difference?

Bottom line is no big free agents will be lining
up to play in Indy...

Draft is their best bet at rebuilding and
maybe I'm wrong, but I refuse to beleive
they couldn't get at least a high pick
or 2.

I mean, aren't they in rebuild mode??

I guess rebuild mode will feel better for
everyone with PG out west??

Nah, f$ck that.

Take the best deal for your team.

And if Hayward doesn't sign in Boston? Indy
would have a ton of leverage over Ainge.

Or even wait for the lakers to start 5-10
or some sh!t and magic might feel
pressure.

Hell worst case, you make this exact deal in
November if your options run out.

That's what this trade looks like- a mid-season
"May as well get something " panic deal.

This move makes no sense for Indy.
2616490, if it cost them severely in terms of return? no way
Posted by ConcreteCharlie, Sun Jul-02-17 03:50 PM
I think Indy got an OK deal here but let's face it OKC got that plus another asset for Ibaka, who is clearly not as valuable as PG
2684910, ^^^ shouts to Paul George
Posted by bentagain, Fri Jan-18-19 12:01 PM
Doubted he could be the IND franchise type player again

Now he's surpassed it

Salute to that man

One of the best in the league.
