I saw this at TIFF last September and it was fun in a full theatre, probably benefits from that environment too. While not as absurd, there is a bit of an underlying horror parody (Scary Movie etc.) comedy to the film as well, that feels like references to more of that older generation rather than modern horror stuff, but it's grounded in the whole 'who dies first if they're all black' idea and just those kind of comedy references as well.
The ensemble cast chemistry seemed solid, and the characters are as well developed as I think they could be considering they all had their own small story and there isn't really a main one.
