personally, i really enjoy more fact-based shit. like recording session info, equipment used, vision of the project, artists' intentions, or even testimonials from collaborators. interviews, dates, places, names, context, stuff like that. the paul's boutique book was on the money.
i get turned off when the authors made it about them. the SOTT was filled with that crap. i don't wanna read about how you begged your mama to get the cassette at target when you were a kid.
the sly riot one wasn't that bad. but it wasn't that good either.
the endtroducing one read like a magazine interview that wasn't edited. lot of masturbatory shit from the author too, as i remember. gimme the interview from keyboard magazine in 97 all day instead of this book.
so, i'm 1 for 4 at this point with these 33 1/3s.
i'm cringing about the donuts one that's supposed to come out. and i stayed faaar away from the jeff buckley grace one.
