this sidebar was unfortunate and I cop to not being fully engaged in what you were saying (trying to work and post is problematic and details get lost sometimes). I was reacting to your seemign "attacks" and missed the actual points in there
while I disagree with several things said throughout (particularly relative to my stance beyond the original sentiment that ALL these political sumb^%&ches are colluding to create this quagmire called a public education system), it went way beyond what it should have
For the record:
I think DeVos is definitely evil and in no way should be exonerated for the specific things she has done to make things worse
I think the system she is part of is even MORE evil, and predates her
I think that in her head she thinks what she is doing is right (just like I think what previous folks did was right to them)
I think the can-kicking volley of "get in, chip away at what was set up before, then but in my thing to be chipped away later" is a distracting game of give-an-inch-take-an-inch which doesn't get to the core of the problems
I think its easy to get emotional about something like the interview and have it feed your dislike, but meanwhile it doesn't actually do anything but validate what you already thought/knew
