I was actually more interested in what Linklater himself might have said about why he chose to do the film as digital animation -- what it was about the script or the project as a whole that he thought was particularly suited to the medium, or why it was that this medium attracted him enough to find an appropriate project for it. And there's a sort of a hint in the article ("We were at a crossroads...") as to the motivation, but no real discussion. Was he asked the question at the Festival? It seems like something he might have addressed.
Not that the article wasn't interesting -- it was. Just looking for further expatiation on the particular question.
