his play-style has a lot of improv and while that can lead to big plays, the downsides will be magnified in the NFL

mainly do not like his pocket presence; he is a drifter and will fade out of good protection

I agree with your assessment. I’ve seen a lot of Cam Ward due to Cal being in the same conference as him for the last 3 seasons, first at WSU and then at Miami.

He will drift away and break the pocket for no reason at all. He has a tendency to try to make plays and has a bad habit of throwing across the field which leads to big interceptions and pick 6s.

He benefits from this being such a terrible QB draft class and overall a very weak draft in general.

But would be happy with Hunter as well.

Wouldn’t be mad at trading down either, if the return is in our favor.

But it is a good trade. I wouldn’t take a QB in this draft but having two 1s next season sets you up nicely to get Arch Manning.

not in love with trading up for Dart or any QB to be honest.

Schoen gets extra draft picks and they burn holes in his pocket. they gave a 5th and 7th just to move up 1 spot to take deonte banks...

and i dont want to hear about how the rams traded back. are we supposed to believe Mcvay is some QB whisperer? he's developed no one.

Nearly 50 years of not drafting a LB in the 1st round. Thats gotta be a record.

Assuming there’s no injury concerns, that’s great value for Jihaad Campbell - as he was projected by most as a top 20 pick. He’s got the build and athleticism to play the edge or off ball. He should be an outstanding complement to Baun and Dean. With the loss of Oren Burke and Dean’s injury, this is great insurance for the LB. It’s truly amazing how much Howie’s philosophy on LB quality/depth changed with Fangio on board. Guys like Baun, Dean, and Burks were truly difference makers in our back 7 last year and the front office is now committed to the position. I like it.

On defense, I’d still like to go for a quality strong safety, CB depth, DT, and a DE/edge.

Offensively, we need to draft a high quality TE if the team is intent on moving Dallas Goedert (which is one of the more strange situations they’ve had in a minute).

Plenty of players went undrafted. I've never seen analysts obsess over the "mistreatment" of someone like this. They must really want Deion to keep being their friend.

Tuimoloau is Kwitty Paye 2.0 -- high work-rate edge with power and hands but lacks the counters, bend and explosiveness to be anything more than an OK starter

guess that is less grievous with the 45th pick though (and no trade up), I didn't watch enough guys to have another edge preference

in the giants case, during private meetings with Daboll going over a new package, preparation was bad, Daboll called him out on not being prepared or whatever and Shedeur got defensive and it got ugly. Possibly the same sort of thing happened with another top 10 picking team(browns? saints?). could be bullshit.

I think Jay Glazer said something to the effect that since NIL is popping now teams are trying to get a feel if prospects even love football. Kind of like what people said about Josh Rosen pre-NIL.

if this is True, Deion Sanders may have manufactured such hype for his non-freakish athlete kids that it should be commended.

goes to Jackson State, lights it up against HBCUs, goes to Colorado goes 13-12 and gets shellacked by a arguably better BYU team. this all somehow equals 5th best player on mel Kiper's board?

don't get me wrong, there's cism somewhere right? but the honkey's that have gone high in other drafts, remove the daniel jones's, usually had some sort of elite trait. he's extremely vanilla, takes sacks.

he'll go tomorrow, someone will take a flyer in the 4th. he'll be fine lol

and he’s started 12 games in the NFL.

The bar isn’t real high. Sanders is probably better than DeVito, the 26 year old from Louisville who played in 7 college seasons and finished one of them, and the 5’10 kid from Oregon, to name a few.

He’s probably a Day 2 talent who some thought would go Day 1 because it’s a weak QB draft, and whose stock dropped because he botched how he handled everything pre draft.

Sanders was handed both his spots because his daddy was coach. he turned down bigger schools to commit to FAU because he knew the coach then ran to jackson st once deion got the job.

along with the Browns picking Dillon Gabriel, who wont even be on the opening day roster. I'll bet 100 on it.

that guy sucks too, he's no mariota or even as good as jeremiah masoli was.

The SECOND Shadeur and Deion said theyre going to control where he goes in the NFL draft, about 2 years ago...I immediately said that will NOT end well...

NFL GMs are PETTY vindictive asshole nerds and the majority of them never even played the game, and are ego driven corporate sharks.

add the fact that Deion hasnt slammed the door shut on coaching his son at the next level, and you have every head coach in the league paranoid for their job safety...

they played this horribly

Ohio State was the only school to have four players selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft as wide receiver Emeka Egbuka (No. 19 overall, Tampa Bay Buccaneers), guard Donovan Jackson (No. 24 overall, Minnesota Vikings), defensive tackle Tyleik Williams (No. 28 overall, Detroit Lions) and offensive tackle Josh Simmons (No. 32 overall, Kansas City Chiefs) were all among the draft’s first 32 picks.

And lol at Deion’s kid

no one wants to deal w Deion

In response to Reply # 0

Admittedly, I haven't watched a minute of non-Duke college football in years, so I'm completely unfamiliar with him other than he's Deion's son-- but I'm seeing a bajillion tweets about him right now.

I see people insisting it's collusion, either race-related, Deion-related, or both.

I see people insisting he's more of a backup QB talent, so by sitting out the combine and being brash in interviews, GMs don't want to bother. Which I remember being a discussion once Tebow was in the league and clearly a backup, that no one wanted the hassle and attention that comes with an insanely famous and polarizing guy as your QB2.

But presumably Sanders has more NFL QB talent than Tebow-- and I see consensus that worse QBs are going ahead of him, so clearly *something* is amiss.

I just wonder what the people on this board think (in particular Will), since trying to actually get an even-handed read on anything sports-related is impossible on social media these days.

More Christmas movies coming in 2025...

he was never in a competition to earn reps.

he doesn't have a rocket arm, he can't move in the pocket and takes a lot of sacks regardless of his OL talent or the opposing dlines talent.

if his name was Shedeur Anderson we wouldn't be talking about him.

In response to Reply # 61

if he was Shadeur Anderson he would’ve been top 10 and the second QB taken.

Archie Manning is prolly the highest rated QB in 2026 right now and he has 2 starts at Texas. Its simply due to his last name.

Not saying Sanders is the next Mahommes but he clearly got screwed over due to his last name and his dad’s reputation for being unapologetic about his son’s talent.

Sanders threw 37 TD’s last year
Tyler Shough threw 37 TD’s the last 3 years.. COMBINED!!

they threw a bunch of screens at colorado and he took a bunch of sacks.

David Carr level sack taking when he could've let it fly and lowered his completion percentage.

they retired his number and he's winless in bowl games, he didn't work out at combines or senior bowls/shrine bowls. I'm sorry but who the fuck does he think he is? lol

Arch is "ranked" for 2026 but he's not coming out. bank on it.

I'm not saying Shough is better either, nor dillon. but those guys moved around and earned spots.

It was COLORADO

why are you acting like the Buffs were legit before he arrived and he tanked the team?

and while I'm not comparing him to Mahommes, check Mahommes stats, he usually leads the league in passes behind the LOS because Andy Reid loves screens. Buffs OL sucked so screens were the best way to slow down the pass rush.

Last year Kyle McCord came to Cuse and led the country in passing yards and won 10 games.

Now this year we got LSU and ND’s backups battling it out for the starting spot - both solid recruits but couldn’t win the jobs at those schools. But rather than sitting there, one of them will start for Cuse. For 2 decades, Cuse could never recruit QBs like that because the football factories would all have about 4 of them waiting their turn to battle it out.

like what was the rush with this? did they expedite getting that number up there cause they knew he was about to tank in the draft? or did deion want to make sure it happened before he left for another program? the whole family is embarrassing.

Yeah, one big effect of this is that I think more kids are choosing to transfer to a Syracuse type school to start, rather than wait for their turn that may or may not ever come at an Ohio State type school. You ride the bench for 2 years there and then it’s about to be your turn, and they get someone better to transfer in and start.

Maybe they do have better player development there too, I don’t know….but that doesn’t matter to guys who aren’t ever going to get on the field there.

if you're a coming out of high school as an elite qb (was shadeur a top recruit? i dont even know) with offers from everywhere and you choose to go to FAU or some low level school then I'm side-eyeing that. a 5 star qb should want to play against the best in the biggest games and under the brightest lights.

as a fan / alumnus of a football powerhouse that CHURNS out pro prospects at a rate that very few other schools do, i dont buy your argument

the *odds* of an OSU/LSU/Alabama/Texas/whatever etc product making it in the nfl are far better than those of University of Wyoming (but once in a while a Josh Allen breaks through), because the level of competition is that much better

some schools are much better platforms to making it to the NFL than others

this isnt some new development.

it's not completely talent issue. seems more related to the potential circus that could come with him and his dad.

he didn't help himself by apparently bombing in a few interviews with various teams. not everybody was put off but that became the narrative.

other things to note. he's only ever played for his father. along with his brashness, makes me wonder if folks think he's uncoachable.

it's probably better that he got drafted so low and by cleveland. he should have a chance to prove himself. they also drafted Dillon Gabriel in a previous round, so it'll be interesting to see who makes the team.

Y'all buy those labels, I was born supreme

and he is being punished for it.

his resume, ability and profile is absolutely that of a first round pick

but it's already a lot to ask an organization to take a QB that carries himself w/ the demeanor and persona of a wide receiver.

to flat out come out and say certain teams shouldnt even bother talking to him. then allegedly showing no humility or malleability in interviews. the league colluded to punish him for how he treated the process.

physical traits are not elite and he plays a lot of hero ball, but he also had zero running game and his skills are all at the baseline for an average NFL QB.

fourth round was solely due to him thinking he was above the league. "brash" is too nice a word for a guy who mocked scouts, stopped interviews with NFL coaches to take personal Facetime calls and told teams what they need to do if they want the honor of taking him.

disregard the owners' opinion and take out any racial component -- the NFL draft process is still built around scouts who spend 80% of their lives alone on the road, and personnel departments that spend thousands of hours watching tape. Sanders is not good enough to give all of them the middle finger. the fact nobody has gone to bat for him (despite them all wanting to win, and doing everything they can to clear criminals so they can draft them) shows how much he disrespected the process.

is there 'CISM involved? A bit. I'll get to that later.

The main thing is that Shedeur is one of the first football players to enter the NFL from the new current landscape of college athletics. Unlike the period before NIL, players were expected to "play the game". But now the paradigm has shifted: the laborers (players) are seeing themselves less as cogs in a machine, but controllers of their own destiny. Shedeur whether it s being done deliberately or not, is rewriting the script.

Now if the reports of him blowing off the traditional process and being a dick because of this are true? Then yeah. That's on him. I personally believe that there was a bit of collusion among QB-needy teams skipping him on purpose (the teams involved: Giants, Saints, Raiders, and until pick 94, the Browns) to not take him in the first 2 rounds. It extended to the 5th round for him. Tyler Shough (a QB who played back up to Justin Herbert at Oregon), Jaxson Dart (RPO Will Levis IMO), Jalen Milroe (a QB whose skillset gets routinely shat on yearly), and Dillon Gabriel (Hawaiian Tebow) were not better prospects.

There are some flaws to his game to be sure; IMO this year is 2016 redux: the Goff/Wentz draft. He's Goff, and Cam Ward is Wentz.

But he should not have dropped this far.

Where the 'CISM factors in, is only certain folks are allowed to be dicks about their draft position. Deion famously had a tweet around the time Cleveland was in their 1-31 period, threatening to "Manning" and "Elway" his childrens' draft path.

The thing is, a lot of the "fears" about what Deion will or won't do are over blown. He has a job. He won't have time to meddle. Anything from this point is about Shedeur and what he does.

If you can't beat out Temu Tua, old ass Flacco, and Super Bowl Champion Jabroni Kenny Pickett... then you just might be ass.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

that's it, the whole "brand" thing. that's new for college athletes. Shedeur is ahead of the pack with that. Perhaps too ahead.

I suspect that athletes like Nico Iamaleava, Arch Manning and the like who are getting that NIL money now, building a self-contained "brand" and all... may also be looked at carefully by these execs.

IMO, it reminds me of Baker Mayfield. Before he did anything in the league, he was in national TV commercials and all. Meanwhile, I don't remember seeing Mahomes and other Chiefs in commercials until after the Super Bowls.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

Jihaad Campbell AND Andrew Mukuba fell to the Eagles? rest of the draft pretty don't even matter. They cooked off those two. Only the Ravens got that lucky.

They picked Kyle McCord, lol. OK. Whatever.

Browns were on a good run:

2 - traded to 5, got 5, 36, 2026 1st
5- Mason Graham (better for the Browns than Abdul IMO)
33 - Carson Schwesinger - off ball LB, lowkey steal, complementary to Graham, fortifies middle of defense
36 - Quinshon Judkins - GREAT pick, 3 down back, what the Browns were missing last season
67 - Harold Fannin Jr - STEAL. Great pick.
94 - Dillon Gabriel - BULLSHIT!!!!!!!!!!!! of all the QBs you could have picked, this jabroni? Too short, too stubby, and FUCK THEM STATS... and to think this was the guy who both Stefanski and Berry were excited for?
124 - Dylan Sampson - another good pick... hopefully this means both Ford and Strong get the BOOT
144 - Shedeur Fucking Sanders. LMAOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! whatever the case: the Eagles threatening to pick him, or Haslam basically telling motherfuckers you ain't restarting this with another mid-ass undersized QB... PRAISE THE LORD. Now the QB search is getting on a better start.

Flip the Sanders/Gabriel picks and this is A+. But maybe picking Dillon first is going to push Sanders (who I think was the best pick at QB for the Browns if they couldn't get Ward)

not gonna lie, the Steelers cooked too: Harmon, Johnson, and not just any 2 Buckeyes, but the heroes of the Natty (Will Howard, Jack Sawyer).

Texans: also cooked. A whole lot of WRs for CJ.

Titans: also cooked. Got Ward some weapons to start.

Lowkey like what the Jets did too.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

Graham won me when ohio state and michigan were fighting and he left mid interview to join the pepper spray fray.
Schwesinger i heard may be the best cover LB in this draft.
Fannin showed out at the senior bowl practices

also you know Jack Sawyer is just going to be a great Vanilla White guy DE in pittsburgh.

i think Cleveland stole something here. i dont pay enough attention to know what the OL is like, and they need receiver help, but Shedeur in the 6th is at least 4 rounds worth of excess value, and Mason Graham's floor is some guys' ceiling.

JJ would have absolutely been #1 in this draft btw.

to Shedeur Sanders. First…if you had told me, with no other context, that the person who did that was named Jax…I wouldn’t have batted an eye. Secondly…his dad needs to be fired, because why in the name of Pete Hegseth did his kid have access to Sanders’ private number, anyway?

glass half full take - both Sheduer and Ulbricht are immature , put energy into things that don't matter, and will learn from their mistakes.

Tebow, Manziel, Zion Williamson…these were college stalwarts with baked in brands. Their teams drafted them happy to Inherit the brand because there was personality and talent there too. As we’ve learned, Shedeur’s personality was poor and his talent is average … an established brand can’t overcome those underwhelming traits.

So then until he proves otherwise what is he? An influencer in a helmet. Again, less internet for these kids would do them wonders.
