"2024 WNBA Season"

Tip off is tonight.

We're not Caitlin Clark fans but we'll probably check the Fever vs the Sun.

The little lady will definitely wanna see the Mercury vs the Aces but I got $10 that says she falls asleep before halftime.

Also, the Golden State team will be called the Valkyries.

I was gonna do a team-by-team breakdown again, but work has been WILD HUNNIDS, the past couple of weeks. I'm hyped! Got my league pass already copped ($25 for a FULL SEASON....please support these ladies) and I'm catching my first WNBA game live. Wifey and I got tix for Liberty@Fever, 4th of July weekend. Should be fun. This season should be hella fun.

Work has been kickin' my ass lately.

Also renewed our league pass for $25. But I think it's jumped up to $35 now. That's still cheap as hell for the entire season. I hope folks give it a shot. You're right, this is gonna be a fun season.

Liberty vs Fever is a great game to hit. Stewie, Jonquel, Sabrina and Sloot take on the young up & comers with Caitlin and Aaliyah Boston. We're going to see the Sun at the Lynx in July.

Went to my first game last year to see the Sun play in Connecticut. Seeing them play LA this year at Boston Garden which should be fun. Hopefully I can check out some more as well. Gonna probably get the league pass too.

If last night is any indication, Caitlin will be just fine. I predict this Indy team will be a problem in 2 years.

Alyssa Thomas is a dog. I can't figure out why she doesn't get her shoulders worked on but she pulled out a triple double last night anyway. She had a MVP-caliber season last year and it looks like she wants to continue it this season.

Jonquel looked like the old Jonquel that we all love and miss. If she's back to her old self, NY may get the boost they need.

Diana Tarausi is fighting off old age with everything she's got. She kinda went nuts last night.

Welcome back, Tina Charles. One of the most overlooked, underrated, hardest working post players I can remember.

Kia Nurse still looks like she could be Drake's sister. And she's Canadian! Maybe Kendrick messed up...Drake doesn't have a secret daughter, he has a secret sister instead. I'm being dumb. It's good to see her back healthy. If last night was any indication, she's ready to show out.

I thought Chicago was gonna struggle this season but they showed some toughness against Dallas last night. Imagine if Cardozo would have been healthy.

she's a known dickhead. That said, if anyone with a brain listened to the entire quote, with context...they could easily hear that she didn't say anything disrespectful about CC. They just took a snippet a ran with it for clicks. The comment was so benign, I couldn't believe it.

For the record, I don't think she's gonna dominate like she did in college. Not even close.

But did people really think CC was gonna step on the court and run the show from day one?

First two games were against Connecticut who is a good defense and New York being the runner up for the championship. Wasn't going to be easy regardless but that's a bad break to start out. To make matters worse the next two games are against New York and Connecticut again. OUCH!!! Not going to be pretty.

Napheesa and Nneka really looked like they had beef a few nights ago. Minnesota is feeling themselves and they deserve to. They're looking kinda tough so far.

On the flip, Las Vegas is feeling vulnerable. Are they missing Chelsea Gray that much?

Connecticut is ballin'. I've become an Alyssa Thomas fan. I want her to win a title so she can feel like its OK to take time off and get her shoulders operated on. Dijonnai Carrington's play has been huge (especially her defense).

NY is looking tough but they were real tough last season. They needed consistent good play from everyone and that's what it looks like they have this year. Jonquel looks like she's back to her old self. Sloot isout for personal reasons and I hope she's good. Laney has stepped up big.

Chicago is becoming a team for me to root against. I'm not a fan of Reese or Carter. Cardozo is cool and I like Diamond Deshields. And I've always thought Elizabeth Williams is underappreciated. But I don't particularly care for Reese or Carter. They're making me root against the Sky.

surpassing Breanna Stewart as the first WNBA rookie with 15-plus points, five-plus rebounds and five-plus assists in at least 6 games in a season - and she's accomplished that feat and we aren't even at the halfway mark of the season.

Stewart notched 5 +15/5/5 games in the 2016 season.

Clark is also now the first rookie in WNBA history to have 40 points, 15 rebounds, and 15 assists in a two-game span.

All of a sudden, the Fever are in the playoff mix.

So much for the "the WNBA is too physical and CC will struggle mightily against grown women" chatter.

Wild that after this exchange CC dropped 13 dimes (franchise record) with the lionshare to Boston - and it looked eerily akin to Stockton/Malone lol.

25 & 16, crazy efficient (8-12) and the bulk of it coming late in the 3rd & 4th. Sky would've lost if she didn't go nuclear. Crazy standout performance in the clutch.

First rookie to have that stat-line wince Wilson.

My first thought is that NY should take it. NY is tough again this year but when they have bad game, its usually a REALLY bad game.

I also didn't think Minnesota was going to be this good. On paper, NY should have it. But this Minnesota team has looked to be one of the elite teams this season. Collier is running on all cylinders. And I love Courtney Williams.

I'm gonna say NY in a very, very close one.

this also not the first WNBA v Olympic game. WNBA team won the last time they played in 2021. doesn't mean much since a WNBA all-star team is the best comp they'll likely have.

Minnesota is wayyyyyy better than I expected this season. When we got these tix, we thought it was gonna be a blowout. But it was tight all the way thru.

Alyssa Thomas ended up with a triple double. I hope she shows out in the Olympics because folks don't give her the respect she deserves in the league.

Napheesa Collier didn't play in the 4th and we couldn't figure out why. I heard the broadcast when i went out to get drinks that she had injured her foot. I hope it doesn't mess up her Olympic bid.

We saw Alissa Pilli after the game at a sports bar. I can't figure out why she's not getting at least some playing time.

We also bumped into Kayla MacBride the next day. She was still salty about the loss.

I headed to her wiki page and was more surprised to see that she was 235 lbs.

Her shooting percentages her last 2 years at Utah were solid (around 50% from the field and 40% from 3).

I'm OK with her being a project but she was barely touching the floor til recently with Napheesa being hurt. I just hope she doesn't get forgotten and then fades away

https://www.si.com/fannation/nba/fastbreak/news/connecticut-sun-make-championship-move-acquire-marina-mabrey-from-chicago-sky-wnba-news-trades

Trade news has emerged from the WNBA just ahead of the 2024 All-Star Game. Wednesday, the Connecticut Sun announced that it acquired veteran guard Marina Mabrey after reaching a trade agreement with the Chicago Sky.

Mabrey averaged 14.0 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 34.4% from 3-point range in 23 games with the Chicago Sky this season. She was in her second season with the franchise, joining Chicago in 2023.

In addition to Mabrey, the Sun also receive a second-round pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft. The Sky received Rachel Banham, Moriah Jefferson, a first-round selection in the 2025 WNBA Draft and the rights to swap in the first round of the 2026 WNBA Draft.

"Today is very bittersweet. We traded two really great people who are not only good basketball players but have helped add to the winning culture we have here in Connecticut," said Sun general manager Darius Taylor.

"We want to thank both Rachel and Moriah for their professionalism and contributions on and off the court. They will truly be missed by our fans, our team and our organization. We wish them well and much success with their new organization."

Banham is averaging 4.8 points and 1.2 rebounds per game this season. Jefferson has posted 2.1 points and 0.7 assists per contest.

Connecticut has enjoyed a tremendous start to the 2024 season, owning an 18-6 record and sitting in second place in the league standings. The Sun appear to be making a move to be a championship contender by bringing Mabrey into the fold.

"We are extremely excited to welcome Marina Mabrey to the Connecticut Sun. She is a player that we feel will give us the extra edge to compete for a championship this year," Taylor said. "She brings a competitive spirit and scorer's mentality along with an ability to make big plays. I believe (coach) Stephanie (White) and her staff will be able to utilize Marina in many ways as we start the second half of our season and continue our quest for our first title."

Tuesday night, Mabrey hit some clutch shots in Chicago's 93-85 road victory over the Las Vegas Aces. She finished the game with 15 points while shooting three-of-seven from long range.

"Marina has made a significant impact over the past two seasons with the Sky behind her scoring ability, playmaking, competitiveness and commitment to the community," said Chicago Sky general manager Jeff Pagliocca. "We appreciate all of her contributions to the organization and wish her continued success in the league."

With a month-long break upcoming for the WNBA All-Star Game and 2024 Paris Olympics, we won't see Mabrey in a Sun uniform until an Aug. 16 game against the Dallas Wings.

Could the veteran guard be the missing piece that helps Connecticut bring a WNBA title back home?

Scored nothing in the first half, then scores 21 in the 3rd and ends the game with 34 (which is a WNBA All-Star game record). Every time team WNBA got the ball, there was excitement at what she might do. That woman is like watching Jordan with Curry range. Just crazy. And she did this against the Olympic team lmao. She's just plain exciting to watch.

She dropped 26 the time before when the WNBA All-Stars beat Team USA in 2021. The fact that she's never been chosen for the Olympic team is wild to me. Would have loved to have seen Arike, Nneka and Chiney play for Nigeria instead. Not sure what the rules are on that since Nneka and Chiney played at youth levels and also FIBA in Nneka's case, but missing out on the Olympics in their primes is criminal. Arike has not played for team USA on any level that I'm aware of.
