"Donald or Watt"

If you went back and had to draft one, it feels like it has to be Donald because he only missed TWO games because of injury.

I also much, much prefer Donald as a player and personality…but at their best, Watt's production was otherworldly.

What say you?

Donald impacted games consistently

Watt took over games but infrequently

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

A ghost? Wow, he sure must have put up some insane performances in his early years in order to win those DPOY awards and amass those 20+ sack seasons, if he was disappearing every other game!

The fact Donald only missed two games as a DT is wild.

LOL @ not close!

If not for Watt's injuries, he was truly on a Reggie White trajectory.

Watt Donald
Tackles 586 533
Sacks 114.5 109
TFL's 195 175
QB Hits 317 258
FF 27 24
Pass deflections 70 20
DPOY 3 3
All Pros 5 7

In 2012 JJ Watt had SIXTEEN Passes Defensed, only 8 players had more. ALL OF THEM were l DB's led by Richard Sherman with 24.

Watt also had a couple interceptions.

I don't even like JJ Watt but he was one of the most dominant defensive players of all time. As was Donald.

How exactly is it not close? I really want to understand the logic here

that's a big *if*. Sorry

To be clear, I'm not saying it's his fault by any stretch (unless he was juicing).

But to be a GOAT d lineman, you have to a) stay healthy and b) prove yourself in the playoffs.

Neither happened with Watt.

Of course Watt will be 1st ballot HoF despite his injury record, so who cares really.

Last thing I'll say is that if numbers were all that mattered, Lavonte David would be 1st ballot HoF, just like Bobby Wagner will be. But that's not what'll happen

You are acting like we are talking about Jerome Brown or Tommie Harris or someone who didn't stick around long enough to prove anything.

Watt's stats are, on face value, better than Donald's. He had a full career. Without the injuries, it could have been something else, but we are not out here talking pure hypotheticals. This man dominated on the field, and for a significant period of time.

You said it wasn't close between him and Donald, and that is just ridiculous.

Even with his injuries his production was high.

Watt spent his best year mostly playing inside as a 3-4 DE

injuries or otherwise. I have nary a negative word to say about that man. I've watched him literally win games, by himself. The thing that makes A.D. even more amazing to me is that he did all that from an interior line position. So much more trash to get through in order to even get counting stats. Coming off the edge, you gotta beat your man...coming from where Aaron is lines up you gotta beat 1, 2, maybe even a third to get in the mix.

...I'm from the era when A.I. was the answer, now they think ai is the answer - Marlon Craft
