Even with something similar to last year.

The Lebron era has been a mixed bag with some serious downs apart from the title and last year’s ECF run

I’m not convinced we’d have a real shot at a title with anything that seems available, so why give up assets? Chances are anyone good will come with an added tax of taking on a bad contract.

Bron’s contract is up this year and he’s not a lock to return.

I think it’s probably best to see if everyone can get healthy and let the chips fall where they fall.

It was a hot run with some very good luck along the way. Now seems like the front office is going to use the “we did it last year” excuse and it’ll just be a slow plod to fizzling out before the play in. With Bron and AD being so good and healthy this year and this is what we’ve got? They’re cooked.

..its mostly because its always all or nothing with the Lakers.

That said, this year is really no different.

'Bron & AD are finally playing together consistently, relatively healthy. Aside from Reaves (and possibly Hachimura), the entire roster is available.

None of this is surprising.

I was worried this was going to be related to Epstein instead of Weinstein.

Seeing how Dolan is pretty much made of money, I wonder how much he'll use to defend himself to fully fight the case instead of looking to settle to keep things under wraps. I have to imagine he can afford more high powered attorney's compared to the person accusing him, which is of course unfortunate, but money can sway justice in this country's legal system.

That TMZ website is wild with all the slideshows of folks affiliated with Weinstein; that photo of Oprah kissing Weinstein on the cheek was a brutal one; Harpo catching strays because of Dolan being an alleged idiot.

*edit*

And based on a brief web search, this isn't the first time Dolan's been tried in a civil court for crimes involving sexually inappropriate matters. I had to look up the Anucha Browne Sanders case just to make sure Dolan was included in that law suit as well and it appears he was.

I agree with you that he absolutely settle this case rather than take it to trial. Him and Weinstein could get shamed heavily if the case proceeds and full details of what Weinstein allegedly did come to light; even worse if the woman has conclusive proof that Dolan knew and/or that she told Dolan and he did nothing to stop matters.

At the same time, Dolan isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, so who knows what he'll do.

but how the hell has patbev managed to play 10+ years in this league without developing a semi-decent looking midrange shot? that half-hookshot/half-floater thing he throws up? oof.. it's obvs nothing but 3s at practice for these guys today

(also embiid's voice kinda sounds like he's trying to do a paul giamatti imitation..)

and not understanding what he does for a team and why he has been in the league so long.

There are other elements in basketball besides scoring and while most fans focus on that and a lot of players focus on that Pat Bev focuses on and excels at the other things.

Guys like Alex Caruso do the same things and get proclaimed a star and get awarded big multi year contracts lol

Pairs flawlessly with Turner in the front court, awesome pair in actions with Halliburton, and should normally have two floor spacers on the floor in the other two spots. Siakam will really help the Pacers defense too.

I think the Pacers are a real threat to get home court first round in the East.

Streaky ass volume shooter that can get hot occasionally like a lot of NBA players. Wizards feel for it, paid him and he doesn’t care.

Make of that what you will, but I'm pretty certain Draymond let his knuckles fly well before that performance.

Because he's always been a terrible defender, his value waxes and wanes with his efficiency. When at Golden State? He got on some heaters during the 2022 season. Easily best shooting splits of his career. The next season, they asked him to do more. His efficiency dipped, his turnovers went up. Was pretty clear that he was getting paid 2nd or 3rd starter money when he... wasn't that.

And now they're asking him to be a top two scoring option on a team with *no* defensive structure in place. It was always going to be a disaster.

Now, he's still young. Maybe he can improve... but he's earning a lot of money the next 3.5 seasons for maybe.

And it sure did. Most fans I've heard were talking about how Griffin was drawing up the defense, but I believe he was going according to the backcourt personnel they had. Dame's lack of on ball defense requires the Bucks to play defense differently but most want them to play it like they did last year. But anyway, we'll see who they get. I don't think it changes anything.

For them to just essentially light probably around $12 million on fire, in his first year, on the team that's tied for 2nd best record in the league, etc.

17 games over .500, too. Very similar to David Blatt, who was fired when the team was 30-11 and coming off a Finals berth.

Doc Rivers fan, but am I the only one that found it a bit odd that Adrian Griffin's body didn't even get cold before Doc got this gig? All while dude had a job with ESPN?

The TNT broadcast crew was literally doing highlights for games that ended on the East Coast and Doc got hired within that time.

To add another wrinkle to it, Rivers had been acting as Griffin's "consultant," at the request of the Bucks. helping him out and giving him advice for handling life as a first-time head coach and expectations while helming what's considering a championship front-runner. So I can understand how it went down that way.

After the Lions' season is over, I hope every Detroit sports fan dedicates themselves to pressuring Gores to sell the team.

His Jon B looking ass needs to accept his fate and change it up.

but, in all seriousness…I watched an interview a few weeks ago where he said Kerr pulled him to the side and basically said…your energy is trash, you’re bumming people out. He said after talking to Kerr, it helped him to realize he needed to stop worrying about what he isn’t anymore and just enjoy what they accomplished.

It’s wild, at one point he got an and 1 on a made three and fell on the floor and just sat there like it was the end of the world until a teammate came and helped him up.

Saw Jon B on Sway a few weeks ago...legit looked like Klay in sunglasses. Knew it wasn't him tho cuz dude had a sense of humor.

I get the injuries suck, but I keep thinking of Grant Hill. Dude was UP NEXT and the injuries ended all of that. Be had a long career as a very solid role player. Its possible.

Klay has chips to make him feel better, too.

Then again he's kind of always been a giant ass baby, to your point on the and 1. He had that one series a few years ago...I think it was the finals even...he was going through a bad slump and actually owned up to it and made fun of himself, etc. I wonder what happened to that dude.

..final seconds on the clock, defense traps you out on the perimeter: split the defense or pass?

We know Steph's not your typical player and the whole world wanted him to take that shot. Still, great players are heralded as such because they not only have the courage to take that shot and live with it, but also know when to take heed and make the right play.

Last time I checked, the Warriors pride themselves on having multiple players on the floor that they believe in when it comes to clutch shooting. Sometimes being clutch is simply knowing when to give up the rock.

*Please go back and watch the entire play unfold. Steph got the ball with 7.1 seconds left, Dray sets a pick, then rolls only a few ft away at the top of the perimeter arch.

I'm not complaining about the way the game ended, just stating the obvious.

NBA scoring numbers today have to be taken with several grains of salt if you've been watching the NBA for a while.

if/when the big 3 fails miserably I predict Book will be a big reason.

There was a Suns game a while back where Beal was absolutely cooking...I don't think he touched the ball for like 10 straight minutes while Booker was forcing stupid shit.

..I won't even speak on the crafty bullshit he continues to get away with.

I love the fact that they're likely to re-sign him, even after all this bullshit. He's so proud of what they built, he can't see that he's one of the main reasons the ship is sinking.

*The best thing about last night's game is that the Lakers eventually stopped complaining so much about calls and simply continued to get back on defense.

That and the fact that Dray's dumb-ass foul put 'Bron on the line for the game winning free throws.

In response to Reply # 0

since 12/15, when both he and Darius Garland were announced out for several weeks:

14-4.

the losses:
Pelicans (2nd night of a back to back)
Toronto (dogshit)
Milwaukee (2x dogshit because of refs and bad shooting)

Cavs had better shooting vs Bucks and better officiating and held them to 100, winning 112-100.

Jarrett Allen is re-emerging as the All-Star talent he actually is, doing much more on offense (being a hub)

Dean Wade and Sam Merrill have emerged as solid talents off the bench, Merrill being a major shooting threat.

Georges Niang isn't quite what we signed up for but he's more than a catch-and-shoot guy for the Cavs and has been seriously dragging the team out of the doo-doo.

The Cavs may look like "Donovan Mitchell's Jazz East" but they're winning in a shitty situation dealt to them last month.

I think due to Donovan's groin injury suffered because Khris Middleton had to eat poopoo in the last minute of the game, Cavs could lose to that red-hot Clippers team.

But if they win, don't be surprised.

We gonna see Mobley v Wemby this season and I can't wait.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

tough-fought win.
Another Jarrett Allen double double (20pts/17reb/3ast...)
Evan Mobley one rebound from a double-double in limited minutes
Brilliant game from Donovan Mitchell
Out-of-sight 1st quarter and game from Isaac Okoro
Damn near immaculate rotations from JBB (Niang sub late won the game)
Paul George fouled out
James Harden hit with his own move (via Max Strus)

against a Clippers team who played fierce defense, Kawhi being Kawhi, and Norman Powell/Amir Coffey cooking from distance.

6-1 over a stretch that included 3 Bucks games and that Clippers game, where I expected barely under .500 ball

This team is playing much better ball than last season.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

A guy who was All-NBA in 2020 at age 24, an All-Star in 2021, and nearly out of the league a mere 2 years later? A guy who's an elite passer at 6'10 and an elite defender when healthy, but who's had a career-long case of the yips as a shooter and has suffered from self-professed mental health problems?

I think it's pretty obvious why people are fascinated with the guy-- there's never really been another guy like him. For good and for bad. It's one of the more fascinating individual player stories of the last decade of the NBA, really, lol.

To me, he's ALL BITCH. I could be being harsh. Anyway, he was scouted with doubts. And those doubts have come to pass. Repeatedly. He's worked himself out of being able to shoot, play, and/or deal with critiques.

Now sure, MAYBE he's been bigtime hurt for real and THAT REALLY DID MESS HIM UP beyond whatever amount of bitch he had in him beforehand. MAYBE.

BUT

He's been quacking like a duck for a long azz time. Seems like dude might just be a duck.

I hate it! I WISH he wasn't! I hoped that he'd type into his own arm like Predator and figure himself out. But it doesn't seem to be in the cards. He's 27 and he seems to be one who keeps on getting chances where some other guys have been thrown out of the league. So MAYBE!?

I would trade him for so many different guys. His defense is overrated and his offense comes and goes. And he still can't dribble on a star level. I feel we win often despite his shortcomings. But I get bashed in Celtics groups for my take smh.

this team has only gotten better since Garland and Mobley came back.

The Kings are a very difficult team for a team like the Cavs (where the 3 point shooting is not always consistent) to handle, but it was a banger from 3 for the team. Allen didn't get a double-double but Mobley turned in 14 rebounds atop a lot of scoring.

The Cavs defensive identity is not impacted by their offense -- which more resembles the Kings offense (only Sabonis is a damn beast as an offensive hub, like the closest to Jokic in the league), no matter who's in the lineup.

December 15 was supposed to be the end. Only it was the beginning.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

I don't hear any outlets talking about him, but he's balling balling and winning winning.

claxton definitely deserved to be bodychecked to the ground at minimum for that flag-2 (and he was right next to him)

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.
