"July Futbol: The Don of Brazil"

Don Carlo is confirmed as the Brazil coach next Summer. Premier League teams make their way to the States for a league-sponsored tour this month.

Whole bunch of midfield movement in the Prem.

And English men's football has a female coach for the first time as Forest Green promoted their academy coach to the head job following a dogshit run from Big Dunc.

bad: still can't offload players because why would anyone leave that city and those wages?

ugly: RM last second took Arda Guler from barca by paying huge bonus to dad and being able to sign him immediately. Feels a little superfluous to them, but his potential is high enough that it was a smart move.

TBD: pivot position--with Brozovic off to Saudi Arabia, rumors are Xavi wants Oriol Romeu while Deco and Alemany like the idea of bringing Nico back. guess we'll see in preseason.

also talk of Fresneda as RB signing and Kounde stays at RB for a year. That'd be good.

AUS/NZ, kinda worried what those game times are gonna be like with the zones.

I assume there will be its own post. There's been some buildup recently, and some drama around certain teams having issues. Jamaica had to crowdsource travel. I think Nigeria boycotted their friendly send off game. Canada is still at odds with its federation. France's new coach seems to have undone some of the previous ones problems, as players who weren't going to go are back on. Spain is still a weird mess. The FA won't pay the women any bonuses and the negotiations were delayed enough that they missed out on endorsement opportunity timings before leaving the country.

The amount of star players missing with injuries is pretty significant.

Marta has confirmed it will be her last World Cup. #6. Them doing well seems to be something no one would be mad at (kinda like Canada getting Sinclair Olympic Gold).

FIFA is still on some funny stuff. Banned the One Love and Rainbow armbands despite not being in Qatar anymore. You'd think they would have let it go. They have provided some group of mandated armbands to choose from. I'm hoping some teams/captains have something planned.

CONCACAF Gold Cup knockout stage is set

Guatemala v Jamaica
Mexico v Costa Rica
United States v Canada
Panama v Qatar

but really I wanted to talk about Jamaica. they got a really good shot at winning the whole thing. they by far have the best squad on paper. Demarai Gray in particular has been looking very good. the only think working against them is that they haven't played that much together. hard to believe they have even more up and coming talent that they don't even have here at this tournament. we very much need for there to be more than just two halfway decent nations in this region. Canada's resurgence and now Jamaica is very welcome. go Reggae Boyz!!!

and also to rotate on the wings.

he always looked pretty good centrally so it's good to see that a non-american manager sees the potential and is willing to trust the player. him pushing for the move kind of confirms that he's been giving assurances about his role.

lots of talk about his injury history but he hasn't had a soft tissue injury in a long time. last year the injury came from a hard john stones tackle where his knee buckled. not many guys are going to escape that tackle unscathed.

milan are getting a hungry, pissed off player with a lot to prove. the same player who was generally pretty effective when given proper minutes at chelsea. this should be a great move for all parties involved.

all of these (fired) chelsea managers preferred guys who would run around like chicken with their heads cut off while contributing little in attack.

pretty sure he led all chelsea attackers in G/A per 90 during his time there. when GIVEN THE MINUTES he was fine.

Chelsea twitter (their tears taste the best, it is what it is) and there was a strong contigent of fans (not only U.S. fans by any means, btw) who, every game, were like "WHY are Ziyech and Havertz playing in front of Pulisic?!?!?"

he got his injury stuff sorted out after awhile but that whole situation was a dumpster fire that never made sense so i don't think it's too fair to say "he wasn't built for the EPL."

also, i think people forget he's JUST 24 years old still.

in the span of 2 days has been tipped to join RB Leipzig on loan, and then mentioned as an add-on in a Harry Kane deal

RB Leipzig has already spent €111M Euros on attackers and attacking midfielders, and that doesnt include the loan return of Alexander Sorloth and the addition on loan of Fabio Carvalho

could've written his own ticket 12 months from now, but instead he's caught up in the wash within 3 days of leaving

like, are Miami just being allowed to scam cuz it has brought Messi to the league? they've already been caught cheating before.

i mean, i know there are DP slots, but NO team in MLS has EVER had DPs like this.

this whole thing just smells financially fishy.

€50M is a fair price id say. hes a good player, and ended up in a much bigger role than expected with Florian Wirtz out for much of the season. hard to say anything other than that he flourished, scoring and creating for others.

Tielemans, Torres, and Diaby for less than Man U paid for Antony or Chelsea for Mudryk. Granted Tielemans has to rehab his rep a little, but still. What a summer.

30 minute sub in friendly (but not so friendly) clasico for his first taste of the senior team and he scores a golazo and a beautiful assist.

every year, another new talent emerges. and abde looks so much better after his loan.

just hope gundogan and christensen injuries were precautions, not serious after that fun game. though real did hit the post a few times, people forget Romeu did too first.

need a RB badly. Dest can't keep up and he knows it right now. he could develop, but needs to be somewhere smaller right now. Rumor is barca's targeting Fresneda, kinda just waiting on Lenglet and Kessie to leave.

don't mind Torres as Lewa's sub. still have one or two too many wingers.

his release clause doubles at midnight. So guess we'll know by 6 pm eastern what's what.

hope this is just a move by his agent to get money but think he's leaving this time. though he wants to "leave on good terms"? that's not a release clause, my guy.

anyway..if this gets a RB, it actually frees up a jam in the team, albeit losing him is a step down for the forwards. but raphinha/abde/ansu/torres and playing a box midfield is enough coverage...plus Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez knocking on the door.

still, squad is better with dembele. though a RB w that money might be a better *squad* even as dembele is clearly a world class winger when he's on.
