"2023 NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs"

Anyone keeping up with any of these series?

I'm watching Kings/Oilers right now and wondering why EDM never seems in command, even when they lead in games. Or why they're trailing in this series, even with by far the best player.

R.I.P. NHL media members. Vegas out Dallas in a chokehold, but kinda let up…tonight they jumped on them IMMEDIATELY. I think Florida is on a mission , though. Young Tkachuck is simply in a different place, right now and Bob became the “hot goalie” at just the right time. Ice Cats in 5.

Last time I watched deeply during the POs, was during the blackhawks dynasty

I due the like run of the Panthers, but the Knights have been straight
locomotive this season.

My stance is neutral ..just want to see 6 or more goals

That save by Hill(sp?) in the second period was iconic. If the Knights win the cup, that's gonna be on the highlight reel recapping the series.

I missed the majority of the 3rd because I was talking with a friend, so I don't know if Vegas caught some lucky breaks or if they just dominated once they took the lead.

Still engaged with this series regardless.

he came in and sparked the playoff run to the WCF, as soon as he got to St. Louis. Unfortunately, we couldn't get past the Aves...who went on to win the cup. Matthew gotta chill, though. He's had 30 penalty minutes in 2 games. They need him on the ice. Hit was mad clean, though. Eikel fell forward at the last sec.

They seemed to play passionlessly for the last thirty minutes of the game. Pietrangelo almost gave the game away twice, once when he made a gaffe in his own end, trying to move the puck up-ice and then by shooting the puck in the crowd (?!?!?) with 17 seconds in the game.

FLA's been outmatched the last few games but outplayed LV in the last two third periods and nearly evened the series despite having no real claim to being in Vegas's class.

I can't believe Tkachuk almost tied the game at the buzzer.

But this series is now officially essentially over. Likely it'll be over on Monday night.

Their PDO, their goals for and against versus expected goals for and against ... all stuff that would be anomalous in a single series, let alone a whole postseason. Yes, they built a deep, heavy team, but I feel like they could play that postseason over and over and not get the same result. There's a reason Vegas had them at like the sixth best odds for next year.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Yes the LA/EDM was weird, it felt like the first four games the wrong team won all of them yet that evened out. LA's PK and goaltending were saucy most of the season and that's a good way to waste 82+ games of wear and tear on your guys. EDM is still deeply flawed but they sure looked the part whenever they had a power play. Goaltending is still not there, Darnell Nurse makes double what he should and let's face it when you've got two guys making over 1/4 the salary ceiling, you can't waste money elsewhere. They can have maybe *one* bad contract and they've got more than that. You look at it, they've got the two best players in the world and they managed to get only as far as the Seattle Kraken, a second-year team without a big name to speak of. I knew Seattle would be a tough out and that Colorado was a little out of sorts, but I was still pretty surprised, even more so than Florida's bouncing of the Bruins.

Dallas was a team that no one loved except me I honestly thought they would win the West. They had the most bankable goaltending and two of the most clutch players in the league with Pavs and Miro. They got close. In the end, look, doing it for four rounds is more than luck, but Vegas, statistically was well out-resulting its performance through most of the run. Good for them though, and loved how Kessel had some words for the folks back in Toronto afterward. Mark Stone is such a stud and doesn't get his due, I was happy for him among others, including the Conn Smythe winner Marchessault. He is a big-game, big-moment player but would have been overlooked as such without this honor. He is so. fucking. competitive. But he's also one of the friendliest and most fun-loving guys in the league.

Eastern Conference, I mean what can you say, it pretty much started and ended with the Panthers. The razor's edge shit in the first two rounds was necessary and pretty consistent. But to win a conference series with four one-goal games, including two OT matches (one that went to FOUR overtimes), that's just insane. I bet Rod Brind'Amour probably swore more in one week than a whole platoon did across the span of the Vietnam War, it just defied logic that the series wasn't 2-2 and headed the distance. But the Panthers were no ordinary wild card and that's why I was dying to see them make it over the low-ceiling Pens, and man did the Panthers make good on that. They have two top-10 guys and they were without some key guys at times this year, no way should they have been a bubble team with that roster.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I enjoyed watching leafs flame out after beating tampa.

With the bolts, obviously salary cap hell (and fatigue) caught up with them. The former obviously is still there

The three sort of wild-card performers were Tampa, Colorado and Vegas. Vegas was more of a certain bet to get a boost with Stone coming back. Colorado had some stretches where they were torching everyone but seeing them a couple times live I saw a lot of potential pitfalls. With Tampa I watched them here and there and a couple times, I always got the sense like they were doing a Spurs thing where they managed the regular season and tried to kick in the playoffs. Obviously that didn't happen but I was hardly blown away by Toronto and when the fans did that "we want Flo-ri-da!" chant you could just feel that they were going to lose in the next round. I feel like both Edmonton and Toronto got a little too gassed off winning the first series.

Tampa I mean yes they are strapped for cash but they don't have a lot of pressing re-signing needs. Improving the team will be tough but I think they can sign Jeannot and fill out the roster with minimum guys. Obviously an actual upgrade will take some serious gymnastics but the good thing is that they don't have much in the way of dead weight.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Honestly it had all the makings of another flame-out the way they went all in at the deadline. Usually I am against ownership letting lame-duck or lame-duck-ish GM make a big flurry of moves either trying to save his own ass or outright on the way out. But I got it there, I guess. With Dubas going to Pittsburgh it'll be interesting to see what they do next, stay aggressive or settle in a bit. I don't really get the win-now mentality there since their core is young and they still have some shaky elements. Then again they are sort of the Knicks/Commanders of the NHL.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.
