I just love their lineup versatility. Certainly always a chance a guy like Giannis or Embiid just goes off, in which case you shrug and say "hey it's his time"... but they have to play a certain way. The Celtics can win a variety of ways and, most importantly, defend a variety of ways. That sort of versatility makes me feel very good about their odds.

It looks as if he lost some quickness on the perimeter in terms of slashing to the bucket, so I have some slight concerns in terms of him picking up the slack with the offense gets more halfcourt based and teams clog the lane to gum things up for Giannis. It's pretty wild how Middleton has been pretty much banged up for the past two seasons now.
I think Brook Lopez and Portis are going to be key for them to advance, both offensively and defensively.

But that said - they still look like the best team, peaking at the right time, and STILL aren't fully healthy.
I do think that the Celtics or/and the Sixers are going to give them a hell of a fight, but if they get to the Finals - I can't see any team giving them a serious series yet. We just haven't seen the Suns enough to really know, to be honest.

I'm not a fan of his per say, but I am impressed how deft he currently is at distributing the basketball. Somewhat sad that it seems he left his best years of basketball in Houston; even worse that it was in the hands of D'Antoni.

I think with Josh Hart, our bench is more potent than Milwaukee's.
It really comes down to two matchups - Jrue vs. Brunson and Giannis vs. Jules. Randle obviously is not the better player, but if he is locked in and can make Giannis work and we can keep Giannis from dominating the offensive glass...i think the sum of our parts can overcome Giannis and Jrue's greatness.
I think we beat Boston, Philly, Cleveland, Miami. The Bucks are the team to beat, but we our window is opening. Not sure if its there, but I think what I stated is the formula.
All that to say I am really felt JB should have sat another week before coming back to play.

The Knicks shit isn't just on paper. We are beating top teams. I am realistic about Milwaukee because I think Jrue is better than Brunson and Giannis is better than everyone. Lopez is solid. And Middletown, while he is injury prone, is still one of the best wings in the league....but their bench, even with the new guys, isn't better than ours.
So based on how we have played good teams, I say we have a shot, but I am also tempering that with the fact that Thibs is Thibs and Brunson came back pretty quickly from a foot injury. Without him, we might make it a full series in the first round but that is about it. With him, it has been very interesting.

You could maybe put them over the Cavs. Maybe.
But I can't see them doing anything more than winning one series. Which is still an improvement over the last time they were in the playoffs.
But they're the very definition of a middle of the pack playoff team. They've had a really good season - and Brunson has been all star level - but let's not go crazy and act like a 5th seed full of guys who have never been to a conference semis (outside of Brunson and Rose) are going to suddenly be contender level.

the Knicks defensively are too weak to beat the top tier teams in the East (Celts, Bucks, Sixers). Perhaps you are more optimistic than I am, but I can't see the Knicks being able to get consistent stops during the fourth quarter in playoff series against the three teams mentioned.
Progress has definitely been made, especially compared to last years team, but to get to the next step, the Knicks are going to have to step it up defensively, in particular avoiding getting broken down on the perimeter.

The Suns are the biggest question mark - but right NOW, I can see Memphis, Denver, or Phoenix coming out of the West. All of whom lose to the top 3 contenders in the East, I think.
The West, while a bloodbath in terms of standings, is really pretty mediocre. Denver is going to finish in the mid-50s or so in terms of wins as the top seed which is somewhat low in general. The East might beat each other up along the way, but I can't see a single transcendent team in the West unless KD stays healthy and that team clicks.
