"'23 NFL Divisional Weekend: Daboll Don't Lie!!"

*The following contains strong language, which may not be suitable for all audiences. Reader discretion is advised*

First off, let me be abundantly clear...FUCK THE GIANTS! I hate them. Out of all the teams in the NFC East (and I dislike them all, obviously)...I genuinely hate the Giants. Always have. Y.A. Tittle...never saw you play, but fuck you, Sir. Frank Gifford...fuck you, Buddy. Pepper Johnson...you ain't special...fuck you. Eli's face, Brandon Jacob's bean head, Ahmad Bradshaw's weak-ass TD celebration, Plaxico's leg, Otis Anderson's shitty afro, Mark Bavaro...ol Joanie Loves Chachi looking ass, Prince Amukamara's lack of ball skills...fuck em all!!!

That said...Brian Daboll, man. Repeat this to yourself, slowly: The Giants have a REAL chance to advance the NFC Championship Game. WHAT??? LOL. I flashback to that Joe Judge press conference, where he was just wildin and rambling about assorted bullshit...and then a hero comes along (c), looking like he runs a swimming pool supply business and fixes everything. Turned Daniel Jones from a fumble-happy goofball to Damn Daniel!!!...with no actual receiving threats. I mean, Kenny Golladay is SO fucking bad, lol (602 yards and 1 TD...I mean, I get inflation, but 72 million doesn't buy you what it used to). It's just Brian, Daniel, Saquon and some dudes they picked up at Lifetime Fitness. But, here they are...eight quarters from the Super Bowl. If that ain't ashy to classy, I dunno what is.

Welp...on to the games, gents:

Saturday:

3:30 pm Central
Jags @ Chiefs (Trevor Lawrence is gonna fight? Trevor Lawrence is gonna fight!!!. We've witnessed some wild moments, together, over the years in OKS. What we saw last Saturday night ranks right up there with the wildest. Now, The Fresh Prince of Duvall must travel to Kansas City...home of Arthur Bryant's BBQ...and do what no one believes he can)

7:15 pm Central
Giants @ Eagles (Gonna be tough if the head eagle has a hurt wing)

Sunday:

2:00 pm Central
Bengals @ Bills (Man...the last time these two teams met, we saw something that we LITERALLY have never seen before. I dunno what to make of this game. I hate when we use the phrase..."____ is a winner"...but, I feel like Joe Burrow is just a winner. The Bills looked shaky like Wendy Williams when she fainted on her show...and that was against a dude named Skylar. They better get their shit together, or Bills Mafia will be throwing the dildos at THEM.

5:30 pm Central
Cowboys @ Niners (What fucking year is it???? *puts on 1/2 zip Cowboy's Starter pullover, baggy Guess jeans and Lugz* As with all big Cowboys games, I go in erroring on the side of extreme humility. I can't front though, Monday night felt good...it felt real good. When they went for it on 4th and short and Dak threw the TD to a wide open CeeDee Lamb, I said:

We need rookie Evan Neal to hold up against their pass rush. A monster game from Barkley would obviously go a long way.

Our defense is a lot healthier than it was when they lit us up midseason, so hoping they can hold them in check this time.

Philly, Dallas, and SF (Washington too but they don’t count anymore) would be the last 3 teams I would root for regardless of what the Giants were doing.

In response to Reply # 0

I just don't know who

conventional wisdom says the Cowboys find a way. Their roster isn't AS loaded as SF's , but what they lack at skill positions they gain at the QB position. Defensively both teams are outstanding. I can't call it.

The Giants roster is markedly worse than Philly's...but Philly hasn't really played an important game in like 6 weeks and the Giants are -so- well coached.

but don't we just know by now that one of these NFC East dogs is gonna win?

I mean are we really going to get AFC and NFC title games this chalky? Chiefs/Bills and Eagles/Niners seems so obvious, but we just know football doesn't work that way.

I hate Cincinnati but they are about to put the ultimate best down on the Bills.

These fucks are mad as hell and someone gotta pay. I wish both teams could lose. I can’t stand how everyone acts like Josh Allen is a fucking beast. Sure, he is when he is on but that dude sloppy af this year.

Kinda want the Jags to win because I’m sick of KC but I don’t see it happening.

Giants vs Iggles. Its been a while but people are about to remember how good this Philly team is this weekend.

Fuck the 49ers and this lil goofy ass Mr Irrelevant. Like that title means dude is shit. I hope he gets popped doing that lil high step to nowhere. Geek down lil dude. Everyone looks good at QB in SF. I hate dem boys like Dst1 hates the Giants.. but what I hate even more is the amount of disrespect Dak gets as a Black QB. Dem dudes were hitting last game. This is going to be one of those late 80’s slugfest.

I think jaguars scare the chiefs but kc ends up with the w.

I have been thinking the giants would upset the eagles but I think they come out flat and it's not a close game. Eagles with the w

Bengals with a close win.

How a week can change things. Before the bucs game you would figure this would be a blowout. It was always possible the cowboys could play well but why would you think they would. As a fan I gotta hope they have put it all together and get this w. All hail the pattern.

Their current uniforms have a sleek color way that showcase a professional, stylish look. Those two-tone solid color ways they use to wear made them look like one of those
old NFL Europe teams.

and if you don’t correct whatever you’re weak at in regular season, it
will come back to haunt you in the postseason.

Also, Kansas City’s DBs are horrendous. They can’t cover squat.
Jaguars’ defense has a little bit more tooth to it, and can get a needed stop.

At the end of the day both defenses are weak, and this might just turn into a shootout.

Trevor is so far ahead of Justin Fields. it’s laughable

putting in Scott and Gainswell at the goal line when he is the reason they are there. He established the run early and then got taken out of the game while they were still unnecessarily chucking or giving Gainswell carries.

Why would they not give carries to the other guys? They are not playing fantasy football. Miles Sanders was visibly really happy for Gainwell btw, and all of the running backs contributed.

set career highs in every rushing and scoring category and get elected to his 1st ever Pro Bowl. Makes complete sense.

I’ve been following Sanders well before he became an Eagle. He’s a very good - not elite - RB. He has limitations (not very physical- though decidedly much more decisive this year, ball security, and durability) and is not built to be a workhorse back. Spelling him with Gainwell and Boston Scott is the right thing to do. Also, Gainwell was cooking last night and earned the right to more carries.

NFC East about to be annoying AF.

Saquon was healthy and the Giants have an competent group of coaches for once. winning regular season, playoff win well ahead of expectation.

The Cowboys won 12 games, yet missed out on NFC #1 seed. Defeated Boody in the playoffs to protect the record.

and Washington is just missing a QB.

Meanwhile Mahomes is the real GOAT and will establish that with less rings.

Duval put up a FIGHT.

Andy Reid is GOATed IMO.
Dougie P on the path.

My boy Captain Chautauqua (Sirianni) really beasting.

Ran for 700+ yards.

And go check out those WR’s bios, that he was getting it done with.

He’s a good, young QB who should play his best football in the coming years, particularly if the WR spot is upgraded to NFL caliber players.

I knew the matchup favored the Eagles decidedly in almost every category, but that was an impressive beat down. Was great to see the running game get back to form. Amazing what a difference Lane Johnson makes. He truly is an elite / all-time great RT.

A Dallas matchup would obviously be great entertainment. They scare me far less than SF right now. Regardless, should be a great matchup next week.

most men would be laid up, immobilized with that injury. To actually play in an NFL game...and play extremely well, is unfathomable. They said he hit up Trent Williams, who had the same injury, for some advice and he told him..."it's going to hurt like hell with every movement".

tough and the Eagles offense has been markedly better with him in the starting lineup. Thank goodness the Dolphins selected Dion Jordan in the 2013 draft bc Chip Kelly for sure was all in for Jordan. Heck, the majority of Eagles fans wanted DJ bc we were in desperate need of pass rushers. Lane has worked out quite well for the Eagles.

Bengals got defense and offense for days, especially that
secondary.

That Bengals vs Chiefs game is going to be crazy.
Chiefs don’t have the defense like the Bengals do, if those
jaguar receivers could catch, that game would have been totally different.

Now let’s see those Cowgirls get their skirts yanked!….

Jerry is not gonna pull the plug on Grimace, because that would be Jerry saying Jerry was wrong and we all know Jerry thinks very highly of Jerry.

Out of MM, Moore and Quinn I say do everything you need to do to keep Quinn. If Quinn wants to leave then sure bring in Sean Payton.

I'm not a Dak hater but unless they find a QB whisperer I think they do need to move on. He's not getting it done when it counts the most.

unless something (Quinn leaving) forces his hand. I'm definitely not ready to give up on Dak...it's not like he's been loose with the ball his whole career...in fact, he's been the opposite. I believe he can fix this. I think Zeke is gone...regardless of what happens with Tony's fractured fibula (I do think they will use the tag on Tony).

Dak has overall been great but you can see it in his eyes dude is shook. If the pressure starts getting to him he doesn't exploit it, he caves. Maybe he can fix it in the offseason but I think they just need to strengthen the defense and go with a solid offense instead of a flashy one.

Last year they decided on paying Gallup after a season ending injury now they're looking at the same with Pollard (Dak the year before, yikes).

I do think if they can find a way to keep most of the team together and improve some weak spots they have a good chance next year. I know everyone focuses on 27 years since blah blah but these players and coaches have nothing to do with those 27 years. These past 3 years have been good. 2020 sucked with Dak going out, first MM year, horrible defense, COVID. 2021 much better but out in the WC, 2022 pretty good especially considering losing Dak for 5 games. Some big mistakes and bad games that put them where they are, out in Divisional round. I think if they could bring back DQ as DC it's worth giving MM another shot. I wouldn't be mad at that. Some retooling around the core players and staff.

I think Moore and DQ will both entertain leaving though so Jerry will have to make a decision. I think they're missing some leadership which is typically the QB stepping in and keeping everyone accountable down the stretch. The HC could do it too but right now neither is. Maybe DQ as head coach can get them where they need to be with Dak.

I also never really liked that Jerry brought in MM but kept Moore. MM didn't make a good call with his first DC so maybe it was for the better but I think they need to give one coach full reign and let them bring in who they want.

Kind of random thoughts and tangents but yeah lol

truth be told Bills were shakier than the record indicated and Dallas was always a step behind the Eagles and Niners

Now? I have no clue who's coming out of either conference and that's good. If Mahomes is 100% or close to it it's hard to bet against the Chiefs, but I don't think ANYTHING intimidates Joe Burrow. The same is sort of true for the Niners - the roster and coach are so hard to bet against despite the weird QB situation BUT Jalen Hurts seems so unintimidated by any sort of adversity.

Two bangers on tap for next weekend. Hopefully the games are better than this weekend's which ended up being short on drama.

you need 3 scores. fg as first score means 14 point game means you gotta make an offense you couldnt stop all game punt twice in a row. a field goal and you're done. also, at that point the bills D had been on the field for what felt like 80% of the game. bengal's time of possession murdered our d's energy early. great job by them stitching long drive after long drive together.

throughout the day...and deservedly so. He's the QB, he makes a lot of money, and he didn't show up. He didn't even have to be great, he just needed to not be bad...and he was terrible. Sucks. I'm a huge fan of Dak, the guy and the QB. All that said...Kellen Moore is going to skate on a lot of blame and the truth is, he was shit, yesterday. He's been some shit, too. I said (and it's in one of the weekly post) when Dak came back that I hoped Kellen would just keep it funky with the playcalling. Call it like Rush was still playing and give Dak the opening to be great in spots. Dak is not Mahomes...and that's not a pejorative. Mahomes is a special, special player. Kellen didn't make any adjustments, yesterday. No boots, no moving the pocket...just hike, drop back, throw from the pocket. There's a reason why his name isn't ringing for HC spots like it has in the past. The shine is off. I know Jerry loves him, but dude really can go. The only person on that staff I would hate to lose is DQ...and he's the one we will probably lose.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

so of course Dak is gonna win more games. even the run game that they rely on? Dallas is better there.

i still stand by what i said. i'm not saying Carr is better or anything like that, but i think they are pretty comparable.

they both smell like MID personified. which i'm not sure is even a knock. most NFL QBs are mid. there's only a few elite ones.

maybe Dak is Kirk Cousins instead? still mid.

i'm talking about Dallas' run game as a team, not just this year, but ever since Dak has been the starter.

objectively better than the Raiders in any way you can measure it.

yes, Josh Jacobs led the league in rushing (i think).

he still didn't produce more than Pollard/Zeke.

you're going hard here. do you wanna keep trying to prop up Dak?

i'm not saying anything that 75% of NFL fans don't already know about Dak.

Niners spent much of the first half losing on both sides of the line. Defense saved itself with the two picks, each coming at the tail ends of lengthy Dallas drives. Offense started to take shape with that one-minute drill to end the half.

Defense was definitely itself in the second half. And while the offense wasn't as potent, when we got to the point where we started establishing the run, things went pretty well. And some really good clock management by Shanahan.

I know Olsen wouldn't shut up about it, but I don't blame dude for running out bounds near the end. For one, he got the first down, which was the most important part. Second, his momentum after the catch was taking him in that direction after the catch. And if he slid, he would have likely slid out of bounds anyway.

Fuck the Cowboys, but a lot is being made about their final "drive," and how bad the play-calling was, and I don't think ***that*** sequence in particular should cost anyone their job. The Cowboys really had little to no chance of pulling something out of their ass there. Yeah, that final play was bizarre. I can only guess the plan was for Turpin to pitch it back to Dak, but Al-Shaiir plowed over Zeke so quickly that Dak had to make a quick throw, and Ward was on Turpin's ass immediately. Even if it worked perfectly, it was going to a very chancy Hail Mary.

Shoot, the bigger head-scratcher to me was why Armistead pulled up instead of sacking Dak in the endzone. That would have been a safety and ended the game.

did not see that coming. not surprised by the win, but the dominance in the snow? definitely surprising.

you'd think they'd be favored over a hobbled Mahomes.

like, if they just stop Kelce (which the Jags decided not to do), you'd think it's a dub barring any other weird shit.

should be a fun one.

not sure wtf they do at halftime but they are reqlly good at changing things up which gives most teams fits.

last year they held KC to 3 points in the second half.

this year they held Buff to 3 points in the second half.

they really lucked up vs the Ravens. If you can run on Cincy you have a
good chance of beating them.

and the point they made, which i can't argue against, is that their defense, maybe not the most talented for sure, is well coached and especially on their d line/linebackers they have good (not great) players who are a perfect fit to do whatever their role is.

the hosts were pointing out that so many other teams have players who are mabye highly talented but who they are askedto do things not suited for them and thats where they lose, but the bengals don't do that.

that was really interesting to me.

dude is an amazing blitzer..

average cover skills but his blitzing was top notch. Impeccable timing and knows how to get after the ball once he gets to the QB.

I laughed at what they paid him and said “wait til they find out he is just average in coverage” but I guess they took that into account because a lot of his splash plays are blitzing.

In response to Reply # 0

didn't come to play. gotta get much better. the competition aint no joke. hats off to Burrow and co, they played an almost perfect game. controlled the clock, drained our D's life energy, kept offense cold on bench, no way to get rhythm.

the defense is underathletic and too reliant on tight communication, pre-snap step-ahead thinking instead of playing ball. and so when you lose guys, the drop off is worse, i think. can outthink a lot of 10-32 best qbs in the regular season but ya aint gonna outthink joe burrow, mahomes, etc in the playoffs. brought in a lot of d linemen to get tough up front but run d was a probably much of the year. need to be bigger stronger faster. relying on an aging Von to be our top athlete didn't work out.

the offense. give Dorsey his walking papers, i've seen enough. definitely a step back from Daboll. didn't see evidence of the refined engineering of elite offenses like KC, SF...Cincy. Lot of josh allen just dropping back, buying time and waiting for someone to come open. To be fair to Dorsey, its hard to tell how much Josh is at fault. His big game hunting is a problem. He is looking for the bomb and not picking up the 3rd and 2. His arm extends his range beyond any other qb but you can't eat cake every meal. neglected the meat and potatoes--deeply grooving the rhythm of the short and intermediate game. the feeling for setting up screens. there was a red zone run where everyone's stance and body language screamed run and so they ran for no yards. those subtle things, not good. not consistent with the gimmes. how many 5-9 yard effortless plays did Cincy run on 1st and 10. that's the shit bills lack. can you count on your qb scrambling for 8 seconds then throwing across his body for 6 while jumping out of bounds? you can't. josh allen does so many miraculous holy shit things over the course of a season, but relying on miracles ain't a good recipe for playoff wins.

back to the drawing board. thank god Damar is back. i'll be rooting for niners or eagles from now on

Allen has gotten off-schedule too much this season and it showed in the playoffs. he can do the impossible, but when the margins are so tight you need to chip, chip, chip away until they give you that chance. whole postseason it looked like he was trying to make up a 10-point deficit in one drive.

How the fuck does a team in Buffalo not have a running game? How does the weather not help you at home? They built like a dome team and shit.

a d he can ball but I also remember people praising Josh Allens accuracy and how he turned the corner.. just so happened it was the same season he got Diggs, lol.

Josh is good.. but he isn’t what people are trying to make him yet and that is a SB champion caliber QB. Last year was his time to shine and the D let him down.

Still a team game although folks try to make it QB vs QB.

He's the best at it man. Period. Every year we hear "X" is the best QB in the league. At this point the conversation needs to be who is the #1 QB that's NOT in Mahomes' tier. He's on a tier by himself.

Looking at the teams remaining, Mahomes has the worst skill positions of the group.

Mahomes is the new constant just like Brady but they will always say this person or that person is better or in the mix because they know they have to create new credible stars to sell everyone that “hey your team actually does have a chance”.

You see this when Collinsworth is hyping up a dog ass qb like they are actually worth a damn, in order to sell the matchup. The nfl is a build up league. The nba is a tear down one. It’s just a different approach.

Media plays their part and some latch on favorably to some and hate on others. its the same playbook. The overall approach is a bit different when there's a clear cut #1 vs. when there isn't.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

"Just Drew Brees" is not a bad place to be, especially in this era.

In the 21st century, there's like four QBs that have multiple titles: Brady, Big Been, Eli Manning, and Peyton Manning. Big Ben was green as hell for his first SB win. Peyton Manning was statistically one of the worst QBs in the league during his Denver win. And I don't think anyone outside of NY ever considered Eli of the true elites.

You can practically count on two hands all the dynasty that were supposed to be these last two decades; teams who win (or even lose) the Superbowl and everyone just assumed that they'll be right back to dominate next season: The Rams (twice!), Green Bay, Seattle, KC, etc.

Given the state of the league, "just Drew Brees" is pretty fucking good.

The only skill position KC has the advantage is at TE. Cincy has arguably two #1 receivers. KC has zero.

even though it's been Mahomes for the last at least 4 years.

Even though the Chiefs and Mahomes are insanely popular.

They had to wait until a 3-step dropper like Burrow emerged before going all in.

Mahomes is a singular talent at the position. Not even Boody.
People worship the trophy case. Montana was better, the Jordan of his time. QBs w/o rings are better.

Teams shouldn't be winning like the Chiefs do with a lackluster defense and now... with their top (singular talent WR) gone to Miami and replaced with relative mid. With a running game that can be better (Pacheco is dope though).

It's Mahomes.

#2 and below are up for debate.

If Jalen wins it all after the changes he's made? There will be a dialogue.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

Montana had to face Parcells Giants teams in the playoffs with no such protection

No Spygate, no Deflategate, no Dolphingate (think I forgot)

Boody was the worst thing to happen to the sport.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

And he didn’t cheat or was part of a cheating organization.

Edlemen was juiced.
Patriots got caught twice recording and stealing plays and schemes
Brady deflated balls of the opposing QB

Flat out cheaters and frauds.

Lol “ think I forgot”.

it's not even about comparing him to Brady, since we all know Brady has achievements that will never be matched

but no objective person can say that Brady incites amazement throwing a football in the same way Mahomes does
