This is what everyone means when they say, When Healthy.

I'm just at a point where I fully expect him to get injured yet again.

I'm nervous because he's looking like an MVP, go all-in caliber player, and we'll do just that before he goes down again.

*when healthy

I'd like to think that if he had been healthy the last two years, the arc of those seasons would have turned out very differently.

I still don't know if a starting lineup featuring AD & LeBron is *the* best starting lineup. But that combination would be able to beat most teams in the regular season.

They all look miserable out there and it translates into the most average basketball one can watch. Doesn’t help that the offense has no flow and basically relies on one guy catching fire.

And we owe Orlando a protected first rounder next draft?

Geesh.

In response to Reply # 0

It seemed like he might never be the same again, but over the last 7/8 games AD has been as good as he’s ever been, and tonight reminded us why at one point he was mentioned in the same sentence as Giannis.

As disastrous of a start to the season it’s been, Lakers have won 7 of 9 (should be 8 of 9 with the atrocious pacers loss) - and all of a sudden they are just a couple of games outside the 6/7 playoff picture.

Bron is always a constant. If AD can sustain this level of play, they could be right in the mix in a couple of months.

In year 20…that’s not an insult. That’s what the AD trade was supposed to end up as. It’s cool to see Bron take that back seat while still understanding he can be the guy in spurts.

In response to Reply # 10

Right now he’s looking like that guy and I’ve noticed a clear shift in how Bron is feeding him and prioritizing his offense. This must happen for the Lakers to be a contender again.

Sort of like the reverse Magic - Kareem where eventually Magic became the guy — except Kareem was essentially the third or even fourth option at the very end whereas Bron is still very much playing at an elite level, it’s just that AD is playing MVP level ball right now and it’s so refreshing to see. Let’s hope this continues because the Lakers are fun to watch right now.

You aren’t a lakers fan. In here speaking on the history and legacy of
the Lakers like you’ve been a lifelong fan.

Man, I wish Bron would go to the Bulls just to see you fake stan the bulls….It would
be pure comedy.

There is a serious mental component here.

You went from talking about the Cavs with Dr. Claw, to talking with Heat fans,
back to talking about the Cavs with Dr.Claw, and now you’re talking about
laker plans and stuff?

That has to be some type of major sports violation

Majority of Lakers fans were degrading and ridiculing AD….calling him soft…
and that the Lakers need to SELL EVERYONE.

Everyone gotta go! Remember that?

Wait…let me head on over to that lakers post.

Your words:

“Truly wish this poverty franchise so worried about ticket sales or whatever would just fire sale AD, Russ, and Bron (next year I guess) for any small assets and rebuild but they won’t so…let’s enjoy this bum ass squad. Rob and Jeanie are some shit.”

19. "They still need to TRADE EVERYONE. AD included. "
In response to Reply # 15

The issue has never been his talent.

It's his health.

It's not even up for debate. His health has been a significant problem.
It's not a matter of opinion. It's just a fact.

It's not "degrading AD" to point out the painfully obvious problems with that.

The biggest reason for the "TRADE EVERYONE" trend though?

We have a limited window, that appears closed, and limited assets with which to go into a rebuild.

Trading AD is the best play we have to begin what appears to be an inevitable process.

Even now, with him playing out of his mind, that's great.

Awesome. Inspiring, even.

But you and anyone else is delusional if you think this is the long term new normal.

Even Vex's excitement is delusional. Recent history suggests this is not going to last. Smart money would bet on his back and legs giving out sometime in the next month or two, not on them magically healing so that he can do this for the next two seasons.

If you prefer muddling along in mediocrity until we have to rebuild anyways, only with nothing to rebuild with, cool.

The better move is to read the tea leaves and get a jump on that process early, and get what we can while he has value left. Soon enough, he'll be back in street clothes, reminding everyone of the reason why "When Healthy" is his real name, and we'll miss yet another playoff season in the Bron/Brow era.

If that's what you want, great man. I don't get how that appeals to Lakers fans, but different strokes and all.

When non-Lakers fans suggest we trade everything we have for another When Healthy, I get it. They couldn't care less about this team, and only care about making sure Bron has more players with name value to sit in street clothes while he loses through the rest of his prime.

Personally I'd rather lose without the pretense of trying to win, and start replenishing those bare cupboards.

I could name names and that wouldn't magically make the trade happen.

>we could get for AD that would miraculously turn us around?

I don't believe I said anything about trading him for someone who would miraculously turn this around.

That's not at all what I said. I'm talking about tearing it down.

So the next time you get all "fuck the hypotheticals!" maybe learn to fucking read first, and then learn what hypothetical means. The combination of both should help you immensely.

But since we're here, I wouldn't trade him for an impact player, because that's not what you do in a rebuild. I'd trade him for deals that expire in the next year or two, and picks.

I'd say Chicago for Derozan and Vuc, but

A- I don't know their pick situation. They gave up a lot for Vuc, and we'd need at least two unprotected coming back.
B- you'd get all BUT THEY WOULD'T HELP US WIN, despite me spelling out for you that that isn't the goal here

>What teams are going to give up high lottery picks for him?

Future picks. Meaning, we wouldn't know where those picks would land. That's always something of a gamble.
But that's literally every other deal involving future picks.

As usual you'll be fixated on the picks themselves and not as currency, which would be the primary goal with what I want to do.

At least in that scenario, we could let Russ walk and give up nothing, or find a team at the deadline that is willing to give up something for a salary dump. as long as it's within a two year window, I'd take whatever comes our way. ideally 2-3 smaller deals.

Then we'd keep this year's pick, wherever NO lands. We'd have that plus chicago's 2 picks and our own two- so a total of five plus a Derozan expiring to deal if we kept Lebron, OR, ship Lebron for a similarly pick-focused package, and try to get another couple assets for Derozan.

So, summer of 24 we're freshly stocked with picks to trade and cap room to sign someone.

And just to clear up any confusion, I'm not magic or anything, so saying this out loud doesn't change the fact that it's all still hypothetical.

And you'll be there, delusional in some rant because you're mad that everyone is acknowledging the obvious facts of reality at the time, instead of fawning all over the always titillating potential.

Look, if he's healthy, he's arguably the best two-way player in the game, or in that top 3 convo.

When he's not healthy, he's not healthy, and it's nothing but reasonable to accept and acknowledge how that lack of consistent health makes him a net detriment.

All of the other road losses I can at least understand. That road trip was dropping winnable games to sub-.500 Miami and the bottom three teams in the East. Trouble is, during their six-game East Coast road trip later this month they play five teams that area actually pretty good. It would be nice to survive that by going 3-3.

no way this team even contends without Allen. AD is back to business. LeBron is still LeBron, and if everyone else is decent... that's a L

When the backcourt struggles to score, so does the team. Too much ball dominance, not enough movement. Team struggles with big, physical teams that go into drop coverage.

The Knicks have better ATO plays.

Curry could not guard him, so Warriors did everything to throw Kuminga at him.

Kind of frustrating to see Indiana just cook the Warriors drop strategy against the PnR, and even more so finding other ways to get good looks under the basket or down the lane.

that team is gonna be a problem when it's completely put together.

Curry got all kinds of good looks. Brick, brick, air ball, brick. Poole was in the corner, that was a brick. Think the only thing they got was Kuminga under the basket in that stretch. Donkeylips wanted no parts of what Indiana was doing

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

I know we are waiting for Ralph Sampson 3.0 to arrive from France next year, but um, Manute's son is in Orlando doing things that are not normal even by the lofty standards of the league.

I think Denver was hard for him physically, adjusting to the league and playing a mile high...it ain't for everyone. But down in Florida, he is now healthy, a couple of years wiser, and he understands that he is a matchup problem for EVERYONE. Finishing at the rim with either hand, LEGIT handles...a mid range game that is from another planet, and surprisingly quick footwork for someone 7'2". Its like watching a taller Brandon Ingram (the Pels version). No look passes, beats everyone to the rim for the board...you simply cannot take your eyes off of him once he is on the floor because when he gets the rock, he can literally do anything and everything.

I think when he showed up, folks laughed at the name and then thought he would be a novelty of sorts in the manner his father was in the league. But I remember Manute coming out of school at Bridgeport and he WAS overmatched when he got to the league, but ended up playing a decade in the league.

Bol Bol clearly has the work ethic because he wouldn't possess the skill level he has without it. I think he needs another 15 pounds to mitigate any physicality employed in defending him...but other than that, skill wise, he is faaaar ahead of where Giannis was year 3. Now they are different types of players so don't confuse that with saying he will have the same impact, but watch this dude and tell me he isn't electric. He has the potential to be an All-Star and possibly more.

i can't believe the Nuggets tossed this guy to the side. you could see he just needed to play cuz just about every time the Nuggets would give him garbage minutes (granted it's garbage time) he'd put up like double digit points, hit some threes, block a couple shots or do SOMETHING in just a few minutes of game time.

if i recall, his rookie season was the bubble, then Denver got rid of him. to shoot Denver some bail, maybe they didn't see how he fit w/ Joker but like, you can't tell me he couldn't be a second unit guy when Joker was on the bench. Denver fucked up IMO.

and i also said that while i expect Vic Webby to ultimately way better player, they essentially have the same skill set.

right now his main flaw is he's a bit of a rollercoaster when it comes to day to day production.

all you had to do was not turn the fucking ball over for 2 straight possessions with barely double digit seconds left on the clock.

coulda even taken a shot clock violation on one and just held on to the ball on the other. both woulda been better than getting ripped and letting utah get out on the break.

and then klay just casually walks away from his man towards the lane for no reason and gives up the big 3.

refs literally gave you a game sealing gift with the flagrant 2 on clarkson.

klay back to killing everyone elses rhythm by chucking up shots and not circulating the ball.

kuminga was busting ass and bullying niggas tonight. then fucking poole and klay wanna play hero and never look for that nigga for the rest of the quarter.

this some shit you expect from a rebuild team who never sniffed no parts of the playoffs. much less a championship.

They only had to execute in the most basic of ways. And they didn't. If I were a Warriors die-hard, I'd be pissed.

Whether you're talking the eye test or looking at plus/minus, this just isn't the same team without Curry. He's the engine that makes them go. His consistency and calm allows everyone else to play their roles and leave playing hero to him.

Why did he miss the game? "Load management?"

the game was theirs.

they were up plenty with very little time left.

and thats with the atrocious shooting night from klay, blown possessions, etc.

got a golden ticket from the refs that all but sealed the victory in their favor.

literally all they had to do was hold on to the ball and not get ripped. twice.

and they still fucked that up.

klay was fucking brain dead out there in the closing seconds. no excuse for a championship winning vet like him to make those 2 disastrous plays.

it seems like Klay should be healthier/better this season, but somehow he's worse?

maybe it's cuz the team is worse and ultimately it's a function of that.

i dunno.

haven't been paying close attention to what the Dubs are doing w/ their rotation game to game like i used to, but i do notice that Poole balls when he starts, and doesn't really when he comes of the bench so is it time for Klay to come off the bench?

he gave some excuse about him not being able to workout because he was scared he was gonna get injured like the past. but the breadcumbs are all over social media from folks who are tapped in.

he came back outta shape *and* off with his shot and to the point that hes worse than his previous career worst year (last year).

>haven't been paying close attention to what the Dubs are doing
>w/ their rotation game to game like i used to, but i do notice
>that Poole balls when he starts, and doesn't really when he
>comes of the bench so is it time for Klay to come off the
>bench?

ive gone back and forth about it throughout the season so far. poole does play a lot better when he starts (like high 20s to high 30s in scoring pretty much guaranteed). hes a better playmaker for other people...gets to rim more...gets fouled more (and a better foul shooter)...and just overall more efficient (the bar is low here lol).
but hes a cone on defense...overdribbles sometimes...and can be prone to turnovers. the warriors worst +/- lineups usually include poole in them.

the usual starting lineup with klay is/was the best lineup in the league this year (not sure if they are still there). hes still a better defender than poole and nobody can light it up like he does whenever he does get hot. but damn...nobody on this team shoots the team into losses like he does sometimes either.

so basically...i still have no idea lol.

which is up from his previous record last year.

his 2 worst statistical years from 3. and dude is chucking *more*.

this team cant survive this continuous cycle of him getting super hot for a 2 game stretch then being anywhere from tepid to freezing cold for the next 10.

klay still thinks its the splash brothers. its not. its fucking destinys child and we all know who is beyonce.

other players have their issues but klay is the only one that will literally shoot the team out of a win.

easily the most selfish player on the team. kerr/bob need to threaten this nigga with a trade/benching or something. cuz babying him aint working.

Everyone in the rotation plays defense. They play young sometimes but they force turnovers...he resets them at the right times. And all this without Geechee Don Ingram. BI, McCallum and Zion with Berbert Jones and Murphy and the rest of them in the spring....sheeeeeit. They were a problem last year. This year they could be in the Finals.

up 8 with less than 5 minutes left, looking good up until that point, after starting out slow.

a 21-0 run from the Kings after that.

I get it, it's the first night of back to back, and Donovan sat for "load management" purposes.

but 21-0?

fuck who it was. this team's lack of offensive set and over reliance on its 4 "All-Star" level talent is frustrating.

Can not wait until the next consolidation happens and Mamadi Diakite joins the roster proper.

Nothing from the bench besides Cedi and a pinch of Okoro.

it's not that they lose, but how they lose.

Allen should be able to eat against a team like this, and they barely could find him the ball.

The result of the Gary Trent Jr Booty Fingers defense is still lingering

To recap, CP3 tried to juice his numbers with a layup in garbage time and he missed— so Zion went down the court and gave the fans a 360 windmill dunk. And the Suns got pissed about him doing that when the game was over.

Fam, CP3 could’ve dribbled out the clock! Don’t be mad that the most entertaining player in the game was delighting the home crowd when *you* could’ve prevented that, lol.

i like that he's rebuilding his game, inside out. starting with the shit that the dubs need right now (defense, rebounding). getting his off putbacks and cuts to the hoop instead of isos. all of that bodes well for his future.

if he can be (consistently) a wiggs level defender, and a lob threat and rim runner and (early on, occasional) 3 pt threat? i am good w/ that.

peace & blessings,

were on the list of things he had to figure out for the Dubs. Wiseman of course is #1. How do you integrate these three into this system and adjust the system for their talent without throwing the parts of the system that work for the stars out of kilter. Throw in Poole to this as well. Kerr and his staff were so excited by Kuminga last season because of his motor and finishing skill that they threw him into the mix too early. Now he has had time to get his legs and understands the system better and they know how he fits in offensively and defensively at this point.

This is the difference between Kerr and a Thibs, who reacts and then plugs someone in, but doesn't adjust his sets or anything. (Although we are seeing some signs finally that someone got through to him and folks that were stuck in the corner actually get something to do on offense).

Anyway, what Kerr has done will of course make the Dubs a problem once again in the spring once Wiggins is back. It remains to be seen what they will do with Wiseman; I know some of us were saying trade him but fuck that, there is no one in the league with that size and motor and potential skill set. I think if he isn't sidetracked by injuries, will be a perfect counter for the new uber mobile bigs like Wenbanyama and Bol Bol. A 7 footer with strength and quickness to body that type of player. So in the long run I think the Dubs help him develop and he becomes the centerpiece of their defense and skilled scorer that controls the boards.

i dont think anyone is gonna be moved by best team record, mvps, ascending to 'superstar' status, etc if hes still freezing up in these type of games.

this years playoffs will be a big litmus test for him.

He had Udoka as a coach in the finals, so I’m not sure that theory holds any water.

He is six seasons in, so he is JUST entering his prime. But to declare the Cs favorites because of him, I say no. The Bucks and their star, who is 28 and actually in his prime, are the team that has the character to win in the second season. That is all I am saying.

Last night's loss notwithstanding, they look like they have the most complete team at the moment, especially if Timelord comes back strong. But if they lose to the Bucks on Xmas then I'd have to consider Milwaukee the favorite.

They’re doing so well that they don’t need to rush him back. Fine with me if he sits out a little longer than he needs to and then gets eased in. We’ll see though. Big men with knee issues make me nervous, but his recovery seems to be going well.

I don’t think it’s a safe assumption to say Horford will fade though, especially if Timelord comes back soon.

We had to wait 8 years between titles, some fanbases wait a lifetime. With the way players move around today it won't take long to bounce back no matter the circumstances.

The build from scratch generally doesn't work. GS got lucky because Steph's balky ankles prevented him from demanding a huge 2nd contract and nobody thought Draymond would be who he was despite a lot of comparisons a player with his diverse skillset is almost as rare as Steph and they are the perfect match.

I thought they were going to need to trade Zion because it sounded like the relationship with the FO was getting ugly, but thankfully for both sides that ship appears to have been righted.

But yeah, I bet if you went back and looked over the last year before he took the court again, you’d find a number of uppable takes about Zion’s viability as a franchise player and what New Orleans should do with them.

(dammit Boston, you had one job)

Dinosaurs tumbling, and some of their fanbase already talking about blowing it up.

nothing to say about the Cavs. Still mad about the Kings loss (and not because it was the Kings. That choke was colossal). They beat the Thunder (SGA needs to chill with the Hardenism), tonight is the tanking Spurs (that won't even have Sochan reportedly) and after that, a whole lot of bullshit.

Really just waiting for the fire sales so the Cavs can get a starting wing and Mamadi Diakite can be a rotation guy permanently. DG is suffering without that outlet.

Ricky Rubio is slowly coming back to form. He'll be in the G-League soon. Isaac Okoro needs to go back down there on some Wiseman shit, but the Cavs have a real problem on the perimeter.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

on one hand the Suns were sore losers on the other hand Zion is a young kid just glad to be back in the court and help his team win. If his team was on the other end of that type of situation he would understand.

if its to create your own shot. Dame for sure.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

(in this scenario, they both know what's at stake)

Steph made his first buzzer beater like a month ago?

And Dame has lived there since the 2014 Houston series.

When the stakes are high, Steph gets too "throw behind the back pass" cute (dumb). I'd trust Dame more to meet that specific scenario/moment.

In response to Reply # 120

I presume that's why - although of course, Jordan is probably the more popular choice. It seems like all these awards are named after Top 75 guys - which, of course, makes some sense. But it's a little weird to not have the DPOY, MVP, etc named after the players who won the most of those awards.

Then again, the Jamal Crawford 6MOY award just sounds wrong. So whatever - makes sense from a branding perspective.

They'd already named the Finals MVP, All Star MVP, and Conference Final MVPs.

I'm sure if they could do it all over, it'd be:

Bill Russell NBA Championship Trophy
Michael Jordan Finals MVP
Kareem Abdul Jabbar NBA MVP

...with pretty much everything else the same.

..you have to believe that someone sitting court-side had to recognize the momentum shift of the last 3 minutes of the game.

I fault Ham for not reigning them in when silly turnovers and mistakes were getting out of hand allowing Boston to close the gap.

You can't coach free throws though.

The final sequences of regulation were an absolute mess for the LA. Too much confusion. This is where they miss vet stewardship from guys like Rondo.

he's a brilliant passer but in late game situations you need point guard/ballhandler that understands situational awareness. Over the years I've seen LeBron blow a lot of games late because he doesn't have that. When you're shooting 31% from 3 on the season a contested pull up 3 late may not be the move.

Also maybe minutes could've been managed better down the stretch because AD was cooked.

..and execution on the floor.

At that point, the momentum was already in Boston's favor. Lakers didn't bother pushing to establish position or run a real play, resulting in Bron pushing a line-drive to the front of the rim.

I don't agree with ThaTruth's assessment of Bron's situational awareness, but he didn't do much to help that argument last night. Still, none of that matters if they hit their FTs with the game on the line. Same story against Philly.

If they truly want to figure this shit out, they're gonna need more discipline and poise. That starts with defense.

his entire career, he used to get critiqued for being too passive now he takes a lot of unnecessary "hero shots" as if he is still trying to prove something.

A good regular point guard has full control of the situation, takes into account the timeclock, the personnel on the floor, the matchups, and gets the best opportunity for his team and not try to be the hero. Its a tough balancing act for some.

This team doesn’t have the ingredients for a title, and AD playing at an absurd MVP level isn’t. I’d go so far as to argue that the biggest impact of this run, will be that it will hasten the arrival his next injury.

There is no path, apart from another Pau-style gift from the Basketball Gods, to a title.

It’s a fool’s game to spend a cent of what we have in service to that goal. Trade AD for whatever we can, preferably pick heavy, and for players with two years or less on their deal.

Trade russ for anything that doesn’t require us to give up anything.

At best, we can deal Bron for something halfway decent picks wise, and have a handful of picks to start a rebuilding process this summer. If we can net four unprotected 1sts between the two, plus a fee players in short or movable contracts, that’s a win IMO.

But anyone expecting this team to do anymore than compete for a playin berth is kodding themselves, and anyone lamenting the fact that we wouldn’t net a talent-for-talent return is extremely short sighted.

This shit is done, and we don’t have the assets to improve enough to make a deal worthwhile.

It’s time to accept reality and stop entertaining the fantasy of anything resembling a team that can even compete for a title.

Cavs/Spurs: following the recent Kings loss, THE worst loss of the season thus far, even they came all the way back. DG needs to settle down and stop shooting so much.

Cavs/Mavs: a palate cleanser following that Spurs bullshit. Donovan cooked em, JA destroyed them, great games from Evan Mobley, Caris LeVert and Lamar Stevens. It helps that the Mavericks are a 2006 LeBron team, with a 2006 LeBron Team personnel, running a 2006 offense. BBQ chicken for JB Bickerstaff who is the other side of the Spider-Man meme with Jason Kidd.

Speaking of Bickerstaff, he isn't playing Cedi at all. All these DNPs make me think dude's about to get shipped.

Lakers/Celtics: a LA choke. IMO LeBron should have gone to the hoop at the end and tried to foul bait. But AD missing those fouls sucked IMO. 32-5 run and then the Celtics were eased back in. Credit to them because that was about to be a collossal choke for Boston, the way they were beating the Lakers for most of that game.

Warriors/Bucks: they couldn't do SHIT with Giannis. No matter how much Steph brought them back in. Warriors would fly down the court and set up open looks almost at teleporting speed, the ball would go back to Giannis on offense, and the Warriors would simply get Giannis-ed. Plus the Bucks have shooters, their backup center (Lopez) is a stretch 5 that can defend, if Giannis himself didn't get the bucket, someone (like Grayson Allen) would. The Bucks got all their dudes back and already it looks like it's gonna be some bullshit.

Warriors/Pacers: Steph tried to hard carry (had almost 40 with 9 and 9 or so) and the Pacers still ended up with a 20 point lead at the half and won by 6, sweeping the series. To add injury to insult, Steph left the game early. The bench came back but dogg, Jordan Poole out here YOLO-ing and the end of their bench is ASS. Kuminga cool as a backup Wiggins though.

Kangz/Dinosaurs: I'm tired of seeing teams beat Toronto and the Cavs keep getting Booty Fingered by them dudes. 12/23 gonna be murder, book it.

The Cavs play the Pacers next and that WILL suck.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

poole damn sure aint worth the money (even his good topline stat nights mask how erratic he plays). hes gotten worse compared to last season. he didnt overdribble that much until last years playoffs really. he used to routinely get by defenders with one of the quickest first steps off a stationary position in the league. and he definitely didnt get blocked as much driving to the rim (he basically lays the ball up in defenders hands now). didnt shoot so many airballs either.

wiseman cant set a basic screen (in *this* offense lol) and has no idea how to get in defensive position to not foul. they just simply cant keep him on the floor for extended periods of time...even when you see how electric he can be offensively in spurts.

kuminga is coming along and showing more promise than earlier in the year but hasnt elevated to the level that was expected on the offensive end. and hes allergic to rebounding for some reason.

moody is just a complete non-factor and forgettable 'other' now. which is surprising. nothing about him says valuable young core player so far this season. hes looking like an included trade piece they dont mention in the headlines. it says a lot that kerr is giving more minutes to niggas like anthony lamb and ty jerome.

jamychal green was a *complete* flop. no need even spelling out why.

they did get divicenzo right. especially at that price. dude can d up well and is really starting to feel his way around this offense.

this isnt the same type of bet as the new/younger players but that klay thompson contract is looking really rough. 5/$190 fresh off injury. 2 years completely out the game. then being washed these recent 2 years. imagine if he made that all nba team in 2018-19 and was eligible for the supermax. yikes.

Because if they go forward with this core and *without* Draymond Green, this defense could quickly become bottom 5 in the league bad. Wiseman just hasn't shown nearly enough to suggest he'll be better in a few years than even end-of-career Draymond is for the Warriors. Because even this season, Draymond is, by both eye test and the on/off numbers, by *far* the most impactful player on the Warriors defense-- the second he leaves the court, the defensive efficacy plummets.

At least Klay's deal is up after next season if they want to move on. That Poole deal... is a *lot* for a long time.

on the injury report for today’s game, and just the other day
they were fined for not providing an accurate players availability
list.

This is unacceptable on so many levels. The way that NBA players
are being load managed is beyond overkill. Whole starting lineups are now being
sat, which have created a lot of lopsided games, and it has made most of those
games unwatchable. It’s quite evident that teams don’t care about the first half
of the season anymore, which is why we are seeing a lot of bad basketball.

I support REAL load management, especially when it comes to players like AD or
Kwahi. Those players have an extensive injury history, so trying to maintain their
health is a top priority. But when completely healthy players are load managed or
given questionable injury designations, it’s an insult to fans and to the game of
basketball.

Thibs finally got it through his skull that the youth are the path to a contract extension.

Juls finally got it through his skull that effort and details and sharing the ball and playing defense is the path to a max contract.

Now we are playing Knicks type basketball, holding teams under a hundred.

I will never like Mavs for their disrespect towards Mark Aguirre.
His Jersey should have been retired decades ago, and he should
be in the Hall. They still holding a grudge because he left to go
win two titles with the pistons.

He was the Mavs’ first superstar and put Dallas on the map with those
WCF against the Lakers. And he still holds several franchise records.

Obviously Lebron is playing at a higher level than anyone at his age in NBA history I don't see the need to trying to take pot shots at MJ coming off a 3 year retirement lol

MJ turned 40 in that last season with the Wizards.

LeBron turns 38 in a couple weeks. Yes he probably will be playing at a higher level at least partially because he has the benefit of modern training and nutrition that you refuse to address because you're so desperate to get a "win" lol

Anyway, the reason I said this to begin with is there’s more than a little criticism here and elsewhere that this is just Brons Jordan-On-The-Wiz era. Which isn’t accurate. He’s not BRON anymore but he’s still a top tier player in the league. Him putting up these numbers, even on a shit team, is incredible.

Clearly. Because he didn't say anything about 4 or 6. What's worse is, you absolutely DID get the point, because you commented on that very point below.

pot shots? saying player X in his 20th year is better than player Y in his 14th/15th years is a potshot?

Remember when I said you couldn't hold a conversation for shit?

You might have a point if there were a lot of guys playing elite basketball into year 18/19/20 - but there’s only one who has legitimately been playing at an MVP level *this* late.

So the whole “oh well it’s clearly modern science/nutrition” is kind of moot. Nobody has done what LeBron is doing right now in *any* era. Also: life expectancies are actually decreasing en masse and excess mortality is spiking - so it’s not as if you can even say that the human being is considerably healthier in 2022 than they were in 1992.

Finally - y’all acting like Jordan played in the 50’s or something lol. Those Tim Grover exercise science regimens were to this day state of the art. It ain’t like players today have titanium bones or something.

In response to Reply # 246

And it's not especially close. He's on his third year running leading the NBA in PER, leading the NBA in offensive win shares. He's also led the league the last two seasons in offensive plus-minus, and he's in third this season, neck and neck with Steph and Luka-- and the fourth place guy is well behind the three of them.

Jokic is an offensive cheat code the likes of which we've rarely seen in our lifetimes. He's second all-time in PER behind Jordan. All time! He leads all active players in career win shares per 48. Of active players, he's in the top 20 for career points per game, rebounds per game, and assists per game... all while having a top 5 true shooting percentage. There's basically no limit to what he can do in a half court setting-- he's a fucking wizard.

Jokic scores 7.8 PPG less than Embiid, but Jokic's 4 and a half more assists per game than Embiid more than make up for that. And he shoots a whopping *ten percent* better from the floor than Embiid. And he turns the ball over less than Embiid.

He is indisputably the better, more efficient offensive player of the two.

>Is Kevin Durant still alive? Is Jokic a better offensive
>player than him?

Yes. Kevin Durant is probably the best iso shooter/shot creator on the planet. He is better than Jokic at that, no question. But Jokic is no slouch at shot creation (especially as a big man), and he's more efficient with his shots, and he's a better offensive rebounder *by a lot*, and he's a better passer by *a looooot.*

Now, if you want to argue that Durant is better to have in a playoff situation due to defensive versatility and the value of perimeter offense in the playoffs vs. post/mid-range offense in the postseason? I think that's a very reasonable argument.

But no player has been better on offense the last three years than Jokic-- and, again, it hasn't been especially close. He's been on an absolutely historic offensive tear, combining points, rebounding, assists, and shooting efficiency in a way that... very, very few players in the modern NBA ever have.

Along with being one of the most efficient scorers of the last five years and a top 10 offensive rebounder in the league.

Like... no one's doing what he's doing. It's unreal to even question it, lol.

Frankly, Embiid has quite a bit of work to do to catch up with Jokic's CV at this point.
