"They are really trying to demonize Ima Udoka from getting "
Wed Nov-02-22 01:13 PM by allStah

this job.

Malika Andrews should be fired. She is screaming there is no accountability from
Udoka or the NBA because he is being considered for the position, and that it’s a
a slap in the face to women.

Two adults had a consensual relationship that was deemed inappropriate because
employees having relationships within the organization goes against their code
of conduct. They are trying paint this man out to be a rapist or a criminal.

OTL is stating that it was an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate, as
if he was dealing with some type of teenager or young intern. The only crime
that was committed was an immoral one, which both parties have to deal with
with their partners.

Accountability goes both ways in this situation, and Udoka is entitled to seek
and acquire labor as a free citizen.

Udoka’s record as a person and a leader prior to this issue was pristine. He made a
moral mistake, but that should not prevent him from getting work
within his profession.

Based on what we know...he violated a Celtics rule, not an NBA one.

Optics may not be the best, but optics aren't always rooted in facts. I just hope the Nets or whatever organization moves forward with him has done their research/investigation.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

with this entire Udoka situation.

And her sister doesn’t fall far from the tree with that bullshit lie she said

I'm not saying this to be a dick. I really don't. Don't you stand by people having their own opinion(s) or/and don't commit a crime?

I'm not saying she's reporting this correctly. I'm saying I don't understand why she should lose her job over, as you call it, her opinion.

If you are championing Kanye's right to express himself and speak his mind - and criticize those who want to silence his speech merely for his opinion, then you can't credibly call for the silencing/firing of those who you happen to disagree with, based on their opinions. Not if you actually are standing by the purported principle of freedom of expression.

Personally I'm a huge fan of Malika and don't find her viewpoints to be controversial, and certainly not warranted of her losing her opportunity.

Either we stand for the rights of others to express themselves freely or we don't, but there's a whole lot of 1st Amendment feigning in our society these days.

Malika has a HISTORY of not only trying to demonize black men, but also
for lying( see Giannis). She doesn’t do it to white athletes, and she tries to shut
down anyone who disagrees with her ( see Stephen A and Kendrick Perkins).

Fuck her and her sister.

of saying awful hurtful shit that has repercussions for the BLACK community.

Be it slavery was a choice or the fowl shit he said about George Floyd.

Add in his anti-Semitism, public mental abuse of his ex-wife, etc.

And a lot of people including BLACK MEN AND WOMEN are done with that white-voiced clown...and rightfully so!

So why is not fuck him and his people?

Why is he just expressing his opinion...but the BLACK WOMAN needs to be fired??

So this alleged grace you have for folks of the same ethnicity doesn't extend to women...doesn't extend to the family of Mr Floyd...

So far it only extends to the rich, famous, and male. Who also seem to hold terrible fucking opinions.

Anyone with sense can see you are the hypocrite here.

You moved the line for Kanye so much in that other thread you can never authentically criticize anyone again.

Not to mention your caping for Mr Flat Earth.

Its okay to take a beat here and say you fucked up.

You were all in the Kanye thread yelling people down that we can't talk about him because we've never started a ($15k a year unaccredited scam) school...

Unless I am mistaken, you've never been a member of the media...so you can't talk about Malika.

And unless I am missing a pretty big development, you have never owned or managed an NBA franchise so you can't talk about the Celtics.

You don't know what its like to be in their positions, so you have to stop speaking ill of them.

Oh and Malika is expressing her opinion. Like you said Kanye was doing.

You probably forgot you took these stances...so I assume you are going to step back and stop speaking on this, no?

Unless...you are being inconsistent and just have much lower standards for a select (rich and famous) few who also happen to say horrible things? That can't be it...

And is a strawman’s theory. There is no similarity here whatsoever. Kanye feels
he has been wronged by Jews within his business practice and that there
is a double standard where Jews can get away with things that other cultures can’t.
Plus there is a mental component.

Malika is a journalists who goes out of her way to demonize black male athletes
and she has already been caught lying on black athletes…as well as her sister.

Those situations aren’t even in the same ballpark or are synonymous in any way
or form.

You’re comparing apples to oranges.

She just likes to get high and hang out all night and not work hard, which

Can barely run 11 mins

You do more defending of white people accused of racism and being beneficiaries of white privilege and supremacy than anyone on this board. You defend whiteness more than you defend damn near anything else.

You said you support Kanye because you support people of your ethnicity. Good or bad. You didn't say you support people with mental health concerns good or bad. You said you support him because he's black. Malika Andrews is Black. Hasn't said a tenth of the shit Kanye has said. But you don't support her. You don't support Sha'carri. It's not hard to see the pattern.

Do you know what that means?

It means that there is a responsibility to report the news without bias, prejudice,
opinion or judgement!

She has a responsibility to be impartial in her reporting.

“To maintain objectivity in journalism, journalists should present the facts whether or not they like or agree with those facts. Objective reporting is meant to portray issues and events in a neutral and unbiased manner, regardless of the writer's opinion or personal beliefs.”

Read that again.

She fails at that, and is the reason why she should be fired and removed from her position.
She is a member of the associated press..she knows the responsibilities of a journalists,

Can’t lie, I was thrown when I seem his name since he was suspended but I didn’t even think to realize it wasn’t handed down by the NBA and he is free to work anywhere he wants.

I bet this is a rule for Black men and not white execs or coaches. If she wasn’t white I doubt its a big deal.

it's another thing to say that he shouldn't get *any* other opportunity out there. There's a lot we don't know about the entire situation, but based on what's in the public realm, it certainly seems like it was a consensual relationship -- not necessarily the biggest cardinal sin in the world.

Boston takes more of a puritan approach to this and they have a right to do so, but the Nets also have a right to say that it's not a deal-breaker for them and to welcome him as head coach. It's weird to me that people want to prevent him from ever working again based on what's been reported to have happened.

I actually think the Nets came up in a very advantageous position with this. Udoka already has rapport w/ the players and when he was there, this Nets team was playing quite well and were a KD toe from beating the Bucks in the playoffs (who went on to become champs).

Udoka had a standout year with the Celtics of course - and now brings that experience to the Nets to attempt to salvage the season.

I don't see how the Nets could've come out any better in terms of replacing Nash and installing the best leadership available for *this* squad.

It seems very, very strange to let a guy who got them to the Finals walk for no compensation to a division rival.

I'm sure more will come out - so I'm waiting to see what the deal is before forming what I think on this because so much of this thread is correct if the assumptions that are made are correct, but we don't know anything.

He said Ime’s name and image were slaughtered, and he was deemed morally and professionally unfit to be the coach for the Celtics, but a few months later it’s okay
for him to coach for one of our biggest rivals?…(then if that’s the case he should
still be coaching for the Celtics)

Something doesn’t add up here and doesn’t make sense from a professional stand
point. You can tell he was bothered by it all and still wants Ime to be his
coach, but it’s out of his hands.

Per Shams (link: https://theathletic.com/3617945/2022/09/22/celtics-ime-udoka-discipline/):

"Some members of the Celtics organization first became aware of the relationship in July, sources said. At that time, team leadership was led to believe by both parties that the relationship was consensual. But sources said that the woman recently accused Udoka of making unwanted comments toward her — leading the team to launch a set of internal interviews."

Also, per Woj (link: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/34697560/sources-investigation-found-boston-celtics-coach-ime-udoka-used-crude-language-dialogue-female-subordinate-prior-start-improper-relationship):

"The independent law firm probe into Boston Celtics coach Ime Udoka found that he used crude language in his dialogue with a female subordinate prior to the start of an improper workplace relationship with the woman, an element that significantly factored into the severity of his one-year suspension, sources told ESPN."

Yet everyone online is insistent that he got suspended for a consensual relationship. When the reports explicitly say they knew about that relationship in July and didn't punish him.

Like... do people not read these reports?

based on the code of conduct, as well as the crude comments that he made.

Those were considered multiple policy breaches.

And the crude language was made prior to to the relationship
with the woman!

All of that factored!….and what is the definition of crude language in
this situation?

was he asking her out? …did he comment on her looks?

If it was so egregious, why wasn’t he fired?

None of it makes sense.

^Nowhere there does it say that the independent law firm probe made a finding that the relationship was *not* consensual. The quote you provided speaks to the "crude language" used by Udoka in his dialogue with the woman, which was problematic for sure on its face and even moreso given that she was a subordinate. But we really don't know any further details other than that - unless you have something to share with us that confirms what actually happened.

The issue I have with this is that so many want to litigate this based off limited evidence/information and conclude that the sexual relationship was *not* consensual. If that were the case, we'd likely be talking about criminal charges as opposed to an org suspension for misconduct.

>Like... do people not read these reports?

Which reports are you referring to that imply that the sexual relationship was not consensual?

I said he wasn't suspended for the consensual relationship. Per those reports, he got in trouble for unwanted comments and for crude language toward a female subordinate. Not the relationship itself. Crude language toward a subordinate is inappropriate, and unwanted comments are never okay.

If it was just some story of "they had an affair, ended it, and both parties moved on amicably," not only would he not have been suspended, we likely never would've heard about it. But this is why relationships with subordinates are such fucking dumb ideas-- unwanted behavior as an ex makes you an asshole, but unwanted behavior as a boss opens the business up to potential legal consequences.

He was suspended because he was her superior while having a sexual relationship. Consensual or not, sexual relationships between a superior and a subordinate allows for a power imbalance that is unprofessional and classic sexual harassment.

This likely wouldn't have led to these consequences 5 years ago, but we (thankfully, in this sense) live in a different time.

to sexual harassment.

You are correct regarding the power imbalance but to say that all superior/subordinate relationships were sexual harassment would be false.

Because they can quickly and easily teeter the line and become sexual harassment is why most companies make it a violation of their COC
