I imagine he will be coaching at Alabama next season.

He will do a 2 year rehabilitation stint at Bama with Saban and then get hired by ucla for their move to the Big Infiniten debut.

In response to Reply # 5

It made sense to bring him back this year because of the cost of his buyout. An extra $7.5M is a lot of money, even for a program like UN.

But to bring him back and STILL pay him the 15M seems shortsighted.

But someone, Nicole Auerbach from The Athletic, said that keeping him around would really hurt the students. Having the confusion and distractions from now until Oct 1 isn't fair to them.

From the desperation behind using Bill Callahan as a culture shock gamble all the way to firing Frost now, rather than at the start of the season or three weeks from now, UNL is constantly torn between legacy, an increasingly rabid (in the most negative sense) fanbase and that they often seem to have a good time at work other than all the losing.

It's been fun watching fans get so teary eyed for the Bo years these past two years though. I remember when his problem was that he cared too much and couldn't recruit that well. Now our problem is we recruit like hell but don't care at all, apparently.

9. "Herm Edwards out at Arizona State"
In response to Reply # 0

this was last week, but it all started falling apart once the NCAA started investigating them for recruiting violations

there are vague reports that one of Edwards' own coaches sent the recruiting violations to the NCAA, and that his staff members were leaking information to opposing teams to get Edwards fired

(if either of those things are true, you'd have to imagine those coaches never want to work again -- who TF would hire them)

He should have minded the NCAA regulations more, but it seems out of the ordinary for people on his staff or athletic department to turn on him. I guess they didn't like how he empowered Daniels?

While the hire seemed questionable to me, it was cool to see him turn things around initially. But the allegations from the NCAA seemed to be the point that marked his end at ASU. It was "when" than "if".

Well, considering Falwell Jr was their president, that seems in line with their “values.”Liberty has invested a ton of money in trying to become a competitive FBS team. Their ascent has been relatively quick.

It’s a very uninspiring hire. Feels like a good ole boy situation, which I guess Auburn is really comfortable with. Was holding out hope that maybe Deion would go there.

34. "Coach Prime to Colorado???"
In response to Reply # 0

https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/35168153/sources-deion-sanders-preparing-accept-colorado-coaching-job

With Jackson State on the cusp of the SWAC title game on Saturday, sources told ESPN that coach Deion Sanders has been preparing his exit in order to take the head coaching job at Colorado.

Multiple sources told ESPN that Sanders and his associates have spent the week making calls to both potential members of the on-field coaching staff and support staff positions to join him in Boulder.

A source told ESPN on Friday night that Sanders' outreach included a call to a prominent player in the NCAA transfer portal, encouraging him to not make a decision because Sanders was heading to Colorado and wanted to recruit him there.

Internally at Colorado, according to sources, the support staff has been seen preparing material for Sanders' hire. There's a widespread expectation in the building that Sanders will arrive there this weekend, although the staff has not been told formally.

"They're not doing a great job of hiding this," said a staff source. "If he backs out of this deal, it would be a huge problem for Colorado."

Sanders has said publicly that he's been offered the Colorado job. All signs point to him accepting it in the next 48 hours, as all the other candidates Colorado has engaged have been stalled after interviewing weeks ago.

Sanders has gone 26-5 his last three seasons at Jackson State and 22-2 the past two years. Jackson State plays Southern for the SWAC title on Saturday, and Sanders is expected to inform his team that he's leaving soon after the game.

Jackson State (11-0) faces Southern on Saturday, a team they beat 35-0 earlier in the year. Sanders is in just his third season as a college football coach.

Colorado fired Karl Dorrell in October after an 0-5 start and an 8-15 record overall in three years as coach. Mike Sanford filled in as interim and went 1-6 to close the year.

Sanders is an iconic American athlete and a member of both the Pro Football and College Football Hall of Fame. He played in the NFL for 14 seasons, won two Super Bowls and also played for five different Major League Baseball teams from 1989 through 2001.

Stop trying to win the press conference. Save all of that for the families of the recruits and for lobbying refs on the sidelines.

now he is gone.

there was plenty of news about Tennessee when the recruiting violations actually broke two years ago. it was actually too funny and sad to spark much discourse -- Pruitt and staff were giving cash in McDonald's bags, while being utterly incompetent on the field and having most of their big recruits totally wash out. plus Tennessee fired Pruitt right then and there.

two years later...what is the story? Tennessee cleaned house and already imposed scholarship penalties.

is lying about whether or not he remembered buying the burger.

They wanted him to admit lying and if he had, this would have gone away. He won't admit to lying, and they can't prove the difference between not remembering and lying. It's not like they have him on a hidden wire talking about it like "yeah man - I bought that burger."

There were a few level 2 violations one of which was about contacting a recruit during a no contact period. Harbaugh admitted to the level 2 violations and because of that there was no penalty. Buying the hamburger for a recruit would have also been a level 2 violation, but he said he didn’t do it. Once a receipt was produced showing that he did, they went back to him and wanted him to admit that he lied about it. He was adamant that he didn’t lie, and just didn’t remember buying the hamburger. So it became a level 1 violation for not cooperating with the investigation, and that’s what the suspension is for.

https://www.sportingnews.com/us/amp/ncaa-football/news/jim-harbaugh-suspension-michigan-football-schedule/zd98wbeawekalbxwuram4miu

The pertinent violation, however, is the deliberate misleading of NCAA officials and refusing to cooperate with an investigation. That Level I violation was the most serious.

Jim Harbaugh cheeseburger receipt

One of the reasons this situation blew up is because of a receipt from Ann Arbor watering hole "The Brown Jug." On3's Chris Balas reported Harbaugh took two recruits to lunch at The Brown Jug and, when confronted about the literal receipts, Harbaugh "wasn't completely honest" about them.

But poses a bit of a conundrum for universities who still value their reputation some degree

Like what would happen if harbaugh just said fuck it and came out and coached anyway

the investigation at all at this point. Built I know my school likes to have the appearance of being above the fray (which has ironically ended up producing the opposite effect numerous times over the years/decades.)

The thing about this though is it may actually be better for us having someone else Coach those four games. The schedule is super weak for those. If Harbaugh was coaching he’d be doing that boring conservative thing where he plays down to the competition with a slow stranglehold. But if we have someone like Hart as interim coach (Sherrone Moore is suspended hisself for the first game so I doubt it would be him) we might actually open up the playbook slightly in a way that won’t actually reveal what we have in the tank for the rest of the season. Let some players have some fun and get a couple September Heisman (c) candidates going…

Tennessee cooperated with the NCAA from the start, in fact they self-reported to begin with (well, because they wanted to fire Pruitt)

if anything we know the NCAA is vindictive, so a little penance goes a long way
