"2022 NFL free agency/preseason (continued)..." Fri Aug-26-22 11:16 AM by CyrenYoung
..Didn't think we'd surpass 300 replies for that previous thread.🤷🏽♂️
Anyway, Bengals/Rams joint practice ended in a brawl that featured Aaron Donald swinging/striking players with an opponent's helmet.
Myles Garrett received an indefinite suspension (6 games) for the same deplorable act (along with more than $45k in fines) and had to apply for reinstatement. Should be interesting to see how The Shield responds.

Was it recorded? Looking at how they handled Ray Rice, I think it matters. IIRC, Ray Rice was suspended for 2 games/playing AND GETTING CHEERED in preseason games BEFORE the general public saw the video and was then released and jettisoned from the NFL Universe and earth AFTER the video went viral. Somehow, the description didn't land with people.
Regardless, I'm guessing he gets a big-looking fine (more than the 10k student loan shit people are arguing about right now), a 'c'mon now, mane!' meeting, and MAYBE a game or two suspension for show.

to happen...as the teams in those joint practice situations are in charge of discipline and the Rams certainly are not going to discipline their all-world player.

..I'm not sure that's the message the Shield wants to send about swinging a helmet violently and attempting to striking another player.
As it stands, Donald actually swung (and appears to connect) more than once.
While I'm sure we all agree that practice isn't the same as a regular season game, the precedent set by The Shield clearly shows they were determined to make an example of his actions. I don't think practice is enough of an excuse to let this slide when there's video of the incident available.
As previously stated, I understand this was practice (not a game), but the league made no such distinction when they suspended Garrett indefinitely for the same behavior.

my only point was that as far as discipline...it does not appear there is going to be any because of the nature of the how discipline is handled with these joint practices.

Plus this occurred in practice, and didn’t happen in a game, so the league will not interfere. Any disciplinary actions will be handed down by the teams.
The Myles Garrett situation was totally different, and this isn’t in the same ballpark as that
This happens all the time in practice. This incident just happened to get recorded.
Nothing to see here.

He has helped two teams win a Super Bowl, is still young, a decent receiver out of the backfield and Miami did not have a very good RB backfield last season.

Miami seems dead serious about being FAST. We'll see if that works when it is 3rd and 1. Maybe SM isn't great at that either. But yeah, he'll land somewhere. Too many teams need RBs.

Colton Miller felt like a bust his first 1-2 seasons, and he turned out to be our best guard. Leaterwood's only notable contributions last season were false starts at the worst possible times. Could be chalked up to rookie shit, but i guess they feel he isn't improving.
Trayvon Mullen got traded too. another guy who shows promise but seems like he's always limping off the field for one reason or another
Raiders are pretty much wiping out the Gruden/Mayock picks. even the ones still left seem to be on the chopping block.
Denver is admitting that they can't draft a 'franchise QB' to save their lives.
I AM interested in seeing how Russ does this year. I have it in my head that he's really good and can/will do well when given a fair shot. Also, lots of times, Seattle wasn't giving dude that fair shot with how they called games.
However, I'm not so sure that Denver's skill players are super awesome as they've been assumed to be since people thought Rodgers was going there? I'm excited to see how it goes. And they should be easy to isolate since they'll be on a lot of afternoon games when they aren't on prime time.
And Russ isn't above missing a few throws..especially early in games. And I'm not sure if people are hip to that ugly part of his game too.
24. "even though it's "Fuck Russ" from me, i'm sure he'll do fine." In response to Reply # 22
like, he'll have a good enough season and he'll win them some games.
but, his mobility is NOT close to what it was just a few seasons ago which is what made him super hard to deal with. he started to really struggle at times w/ the Hawks just having to stand back there and sling it.
i guess my biggest thing is if you pay a guy that much he should be getting MVP votes if not winning MVP. i don't see him even getting votes unless the Broncos way overachieve plus they've had a bunch of guys on offense get hurt in the preseason so Russ "arsenal" is already decreased.
like i said, i'm glad we stood firm and told him he wasn't getting that money from us. i'll take a year or two of Geno Smith over that contract.
