Sue Bird argues that it's a luxury that pro athletes deserve.
But on the flip, for someone like Liz Cambage (who is around 6'8), it's a real matter of comfort. She has considered (threatened?) to pay for her own flights. And she's ripped the WNBA for not having chartered flights because other overseas leagues do. At the same time, those overseas leagues have way more fan support and make way more money than the WNBA. So I don't think it's just an issue of the WNBA not wanting the players to have the flights. A lot of it has to do with allocation of money.

I kinda agree with you. They're definitely hesitant to spend but I think it's because of the other point you make. They're not making a ton of money (for a couple of different reasons).
The new league president was a big wig at Deloitte before this and she's already tried to make a couple of power moves. I hope that they can get everything moving in the right direction.
