"2021/22 NBA Regular Season: Week 20"
Mon Feb-28-22 09:09 AM by CyrenYoung

The Lakers got an ol' fashioned ass whippin' at home by the Pelicans.

Lackluster performance all around. As previously stated, this team doesn't practice worth a damn.

Vogel is clearly in trouble with this roster. Injuries are always a factor, but this is ridiculous.

*In other news:

· Kyrie shines against the Bucks. NYC vaccine mandate scheduled to be lifted 3/7/22, but apparently Irving still won't be available for home games because of a loophole.

· Harden & Embiid getting along fabulously, rolling over the Knicks.

· GSW collapse against Dallas.

· Celtics falls to the new look Pacers.

*skatin' the rings of saturn*

...when missing key role players. Makes sense.

I'll also toss in that Zach LaVine isn't playing his part as a 1b guy on this squad.
That's gotta change in these last 20 games before the playoffs.
We have to make teams pay when they double DeRozan.

I thought it might take some time to get it working
Harden might need more than 1 practice
Smart to limit his mpg for a few…

I was wrong

Couldn’t imagine a better start

With Dame and Beal injured, we actually got lucky that Harden was even available

A lot of Ls on this Monday

I see the goalposts have already moved to the playoffs/chip

Worst move of Morey’s career…turned into executive of the year…over a weekend

can Book keep the ship afloat while CP3 is out with his wrist injury?

will Draymond's mysterious back injury heal in time for the playoffs because the Warriors go nowhere without him...

Memphis looking tough but do they have the experience to get all the way to the conference finals?

Utah is inconsistent as always but could get on a roll...

Kidd has Luka and Dallas looking better than most people thought and that team may be scary in the playoffs...

Joker has kept Denver in the mix they may be getting Murray and MPJ back...

Ls to Detroit and Minnesota, W on the Wizards.
Cavs are w/o Garland for who knows how long.
Rondo out 2 weeks.
LeVert out 2 weeks.
Signed Frazier from Milwaukee and that dude looked like Pangos 2.0. He got the hook quick. Good thing that's a 10 day.

Gotta roll with Goodwin (who actually is kinda dope) and Cedi as far as handling the ball goes.

This is allegedly the "easiest" part of the schedule but the Cavs gotta play Philly 3 more times, the Nets again, Miami again...

I dunno. Hoping the Cavs stay in the top 6 before the season ends. Unprecedented levels of curse.

Thank goodness Lauri is back. He's slowly getting back to his level of shooting from the last days of the Bulls. Guarding 3s and 4s seems to be his thing. Optimistic about his role in the future.

Hope this means that the one season of "Fuck You" Roster (including Sexton) bears out 50+ wins.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

Right now Denver is 6th with the possibility of MPJ & Murray returning soon.

With Draymond questionable Memphis might overtake them for the 2 seed so the matchup with Minnesota could happen if Minnesota makes it out of the play-in

I was counting on them to fall off after star break or fatigue catch up with them but they're looking at 8 straight wins now

If the wolves fall into that play-in game its because they don't play any defense at all, whatsoever

I said he would be a megastar. I said Memphis isn’t winning a chip
with him taking 30 shots and scoring all the points....

Let me know when that happens.....

You getting all Lady Gaga over dude putting up stats.. We saw that with
Harden years ago....But now Harden is an outstanding facilitator and making
people better.

Ja Morant and Adams equal Harden and Capela years ago. ....We saw this
already.

So sit back and enjoy the Ja Morant show and espn highlights....because that’s all it will bring UNLESS he changes his game.

>I said he would be a megastar. I said Memphis isn’t winning

he's averaging 1 more shot than Steph right now, largely because Memphis'#2 option has missed most of the season (Ja averaged 17 shots per game with Brooks in the lineup this season, and averages 16 shots for his career). So, Dubs not winning anything with Steph either?

>You getting all Lady Gaga over dude putting up stats.. We saw

I mean I just said he was a superstar; you said he's a megastar. You also compared Derozan/ Lavine to Jordan/Pippen over them putting up stats. Fuck a Gaga, you going full Superhead.

Harden is also now playing with the MVP frontrunner - that kinda helps a bit.

>So sit back and enjoy the Ja Morant show and espn

I will, thanks!

>because that’s all it will bring UNLESS he

or changes teams and plays with the MVP I guess.

He knows who his lead dogs are....but he needs to find out who is going to show up and how folks respond to adversity.

Payton obviously shows up be it 10 minutes of playing time or 32 minutes.

Poole is struggling with his role being reduced, Wiggins is struggling with playing with Klay and Steph....better to find that out in February and try and fix it than to find out in late May or June.

I think once the second season starts, he will solidify the rotation, knowledge in hand of how to respond if someone goes down or they encounter a match up problem.

Pretty wild how much the Warriors are struggling now. Hope that back of Draymond fully heals up for the playoff run, muchless that it doesn't become a lingering injury for the long term.

35. "Prokhorov sold the BK Nets for $2.3B in 2019 under pressure from Putin "
In response to Reply # 0

from the hands of an oligarch Putin loyalist puppet to the hands of an oligarch Jinping loyalist puppet lol

the Nets are LITERALLY the bad guys

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10569277/Russian-billionaire-sold-Brooklyn-Nets-pressure-Putin-report-says.html

Billionaire Russian oligarch Mikhail Prokhorov sold the Brooklyn Nets for $2.3 billion in 2019 under pressure from Vladimir Putin to prove his loyalty, according to a new report.

'Putin strongly suggested he sell the Nets' and Prokhorov risked losing his fortune in Russia if he refused, a source close to the situation told the New York Post in a report on Tuesday.

Prokhorov, a financial and precious metals tycoon worth an estimated $11.4 billion, first sold a 49 percent stake in the Nets to Alibaba executive Joseph Tsai for $1 billion in 2019.

The following year he sold Tsai his remaining 51 percent stake for $1.35 billion, in addition to unloading the Barclays Center arena for $1 billion, in the biggest transaction ever for a US sports team.

The purported reason for the sale? 'You couldn't be pro-Russian and own an NBA team,' another source who knows Prokhorov told the outlet.

Representatives for Prokhorov did not immediately respond to an inquiry from DailyMail.com, but a spokesman for the billionaire strongly denied that he had been under pressure to sell in a statement to the Post.

'Mikhail had said for years before Joe Tsai appeared that he was open for discussion about the Nets, the spokesperson said.

'He was not pressured by anyone to sell unless you mean the 'pressure' of the attractive offer he received for the team and the arena at the time.'

At the time Prokhorov sold the Nets, Russia was facing pressure and sanctions over Putin's 2014 annexation of Crimea.

Though Prokhorov has not been targeted by US sanctions, he was named as one of many 'Russian oligarchs' pursuant to the Countering America's Adversaries Through Sanctions Act which former President Donald Trump signed into law in 2017.

Insiders told the Post that the NBA was relieved when Prokhorov sold the team because the league feared scrutiny over their decision to approve his ownership in the event that tensions with Russia increased.

Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine last week and the massive Western sanctions that have followed, Prokhorov's decision to sell the team now seems prescient.

Had he retained ownership, he might now be in the situation facing Roman Abramovich, the Russian billionaire owner of the British Premier League team Chelsea FC.

Following the Russian invasion, Abramovich is reportedly attempting to sell the team in the face of potential asset freezes.

Chelsea and Abramovich's representatives have not disputed Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss saying he 'received an offer on Tuesday to buy Chelsea from Abramovich' along with three other people.

'Abramovich is currently asking far too much,' Wyss was quoted as telling Swiss newspaper, Blick.

Abramovich has never held UK citizenship and made his fortune selling assets purchased from the state when the USSR broke up. He vehemently denies being close to the Kremlin or doing anything that would merit sanctions.

As Russia's war on Ukraine entered the seventh day, the British government was yet to say if Abramovich would be included among the wealthy Russians to be targeted in sanctions.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said it was not 'appropriate' to comment on individual cases when asked in the House of Commons why Abramovich was not facing sanctions yet.

Chelsea, the reigning European champion, owes Abramovich more than $2 billion in loans after 19 years of injecting cash to elevate the club into one of the most successful in Europe.

Parliamentary privilege had been used by Labour Party legislator Chris Bryant to claim in the House of Commons on Tuesday that Abramovich was already looking to sell London properties, speculating that 'he´s terrified of being sanctioned.'

Bryant added: 'The danger is that Mr. Abramovich will have sold everything by the time we get round to sanctioning him.'

not just losing, but how they lose and why.

so many injuries at the most key position, no one left who can create at a decent clip.

almost looking forward to a play-in slot, losing that and getting our lottery pick back at this point.

open roster slot but no one getting waived that can fit.

might as well leave the door open for LeBron at this point.

Alec Burk missed him cutting to the rim for a dunk and then the ball kinda disappeared into Juls hands for three or four possessions and the Sixers took the lead.

If Juls wasn't "facilitating" and was just attacking like RJ and we had a point guard distributing, this offense would be nice.

they're a chore to watch at the moment. the lack of defense and overall lack of intensity on that end is really hard to stomach.

with caruso and ball i do think we can annoy anyone in the playoffs. hopefully both are back soon and we can start resembling what we looked like when healthy earlier in the year.

but in the meantime we're well on our way to the 4-6 seed mix.

In response to Reply # 0

I'm including the recent streak of playoff misses as well. Those teams everyone knew would be bad going into the season.

But the way this team loses... They just aren't competitive. And they don't play hard.

This is one of the least talented teams among the playoff-contending teams. I get that.

But even judging them on a curve, this team is aggravating and deflating.

I’m optimistic I guess. But still - he’s not gonna be the number one dude ever. That I’ve accepted. And that’s ok. But this team is so poorly constructed I’m not sure how they find their way outta this into a new roster next year.

Huge credit to them. Said it before but dinwiddie is such an epic pickup for that swuad

They neutralized Steph. And looked to get him involved on switches on the other end.

warrior homer fans can get a little sensitive about his defense over in r/warriors. But anyone honest with themselves knows what they’re seeing on that end. He’s improved of course and bulking up has obviously helped. Still average on that end at best

Having said all that we are still getting killed inside without dray or wiseman. Desperately need them back

while i do loosely follow the Dubs, i don't follow closely enough to know how valid the criticisms are.

OBVIOUSLY losing Draymond has been a game changer, literally. they were 28-6 with him, and they are now 15-14 without him.

that said, it FEELS like some of the Kerr stuff i valid, especially the rotation criticisms.

it seems as if he's an assistant defensive coach for the Warriors in terms of his role for the Warriors.

It's been some years since I watched the NFL, but I think Draymond's equivalent would be a defensive linebacker in terms of coaching up the team's defensive schemes while playing at the same time. Given have fast paced and how high the skill level is for the NBA, that's pretty impressive.

..it appears no one on this coaching staff/roster got the memo to step it up on defense for 4 qtrs.

Kidd's presence is sorely missed. This is clearly Vogel's last year.

Even when AD returns, there's not enough time to get it together and gain momentum. Anyone thinking this team can just flip a switch and turn it up is kidding themselves (pun intended).

In response to Reply # 0

no cap. that dude is special.

what's not special is the Cavs offense.
the defense has fallen off a cliff. overhelping in the paint, over driving TO the paint on offense.

what does that mean? getting killed from 3 on defense, not doing shit on offense from 3.

best 3 point shooters absent Garland also play doo-doo defense (Love, Cedi, Lauri) and an added bonus: they don't create.

Against 6ers, Darius had to play LeBron minutes. that is not good, considering how much he has to rest his back.

Mobley hits the rookie wall. I want him to work on his 3-ball in the offseason. he is capable (we saw him in the All-Star game, he is well able to hit from the logo). he was getting jobbed on calls.

Philadelphia is one of the most potent and fine teams in the NBA, and given the bullshit with the Nets? A title contender. just gotta beat the Heat, Bucks, and Bulls.

but there is one thing I don't like about that team, and it's James Harden and his foul grifting. it's part of his game. he is talented beyond belief. great facilitator, creator, and scorer. but the foul shit is bullshit.

Pair this with EMVPiid (similar).

Cavs had everything they could want against Philly:

- Harden, Thybulle, Embiid in foul trouble
- Embiid being pedestrian from 3
- a 21 point lead with Okoro hitting almost all of his FTs

still held that L.

Cavs don't defend the 3, overly dependent on DG on some LeBron shit.
yes, missing LeVert and Rondo.
also Sexton. that dude would be a Maxey analog on this Cavs team.

Philly continues rolling with a 125 point win (their norm in the Harden era).

Watch out for them Sixers. This team is better than the Jimmy rental year.

My gripes about the foul grifting bullshit aside: they replaced Seth (who was great for them) with Harden (who has better playmaking, Seth is more of a "Klay" type guard) + Maxey at the 2 allows him to really shine.

Don't be shocked if it's them vs. the Bucks in the end.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

i question whether kerr should have automatically made him a starter as opposed to working his way into the rotation from the bench.

kerr is assuming klay is gonna return close to his old form but that might be a ways off. it looks like hes actually regressing as the season wears on.

wiggins play has clearly been impacted by klays return.

and jordan poole always falls off later in the game after a hot start.

the defense and rebounding is ass now too (with draymond out). but that offense is up and down throughout games too.

either the Wizards, the Knicks, the Pacers, the Pistons, or the Magic would have to end the season with a better record than them.

Right now, the Wizards are the closest to the Nets record wise. Beal had a season ending surgery some weeks ago and Porzingis is day-to-day with his knee issues.

As poor and uneven as the season has been, I don't see either one of those five cellar dwelling Eastern conference teams leap frogging the Nets. That would be shocking to me.
