"2021-22 NBA Season: Week 3"

The Bulls have been tremendously impressive. Losing Patrick Williams for the
season is a huge loss, and will hurt us on the defensive end, but the Bulls are
so well coached that they should be able to make up for it.

Also, almost forgot, can someone please call Waste Management to
get rid of that trash ass team that wears purple and gold. It would
make my viewing experience so much better.

PEACE.

it is pretty wild how Bradley Beal is skating in terms of being able to play while being unvaxxed.

At the moment in New York State, he's able to play as a visiting player against the Knicks and Nets (although there is a bill to close that loophole that's on the table).

Is there a similar loophole in California for Bradley Beal to play as a visiting player against the Lakers, Clipper, and Golden State?

I think I said it in another post, but Beal is probably is skating because there's no requirement in DC. And the loophole.

I'm pretty sure there's the some loophole, but I'm not positive.

He is out there playing like trash right now. Derozan has been carrying this
team, and he is carrying them now.

If Lavine were worth the Max, he would have gotten it already.

had that circled as a L but they were almost leading a COWBELL for most of this game and never coughed up the lead, to the very, very end.

Very stressful game. Missed a LOT of FTs, which they were actually granted. Even with some bad no-calls.

This team is going to get crushed eventually because outside shooting is still ass.

Evan Mobley might be getting "Thibs'd out", but this team can't do what it does defensively without him on the floor.

Jarrett Allen had a MONSTER game.
Good minutes from Cedi.

People say the 3 big line up is a disaster... the 3 guard line up when people go small is not one I want to see much of, given how putrid this team is from 3.

Sexton needs to Kobe Up and get his confidence from 3 back.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

In response to Reply # 47

From the Justivity post:

“He's reeeeeally stiff, and he's got a weak lower body. That's a really bad combo imo. Because there is a zero percent chance he can defend the perimeter and switch... but he's also gonna get abused by a lot of the bigger, stronger, more mobile bigs in the NBA.”

He was always going to be a project. He’s not ready to log serious NBA minutes yet. There’s a lot of noise, obviously, because he hasn’t played much, but his on/off numbers last season were pretty appalling on both ends of the floor, and even this year in a very limited sample, it’s clear the offense at minimum is still substantially worse when he’s out there. Because he can’t handle, he doesn’t pass, he’s not strong enough to be a great screener, he’s not strong enough to post most defenders up, etc.

He could still become a rotational pick and pop big. But it’s gonna be another year or two. (And I still think they drafted him waaay too early. No clue what they were thinking.)

Derozan is mad efficient at getting to his spots so he doesnt look like anyone else on the roster when it comes to scoring, not to mention he's locked in.

To negate the effect of Billy Ball, Lonzo is going to have to assert himself more as the orchestrator of the offense...

Zach (and Vucevic) will be better off that way. Otherwise its your turn to shoot offense the whole game.

and never will be. That’s Lonzo Ball., and he does it well,
same with Caruso.

Ball movement isn’t the problem. The problem with Zach is ball protection,
and making mental mistakes in crunch time. He forces his game. Derozan doesn’t.
He knows his spots, just like Jimmy Butler does.

Zach Lavine just isn’t a superstar max player. He is an allStar player,
but he thinks he is a superstar player. That’s the problem.

We don’t need volume shooting. We need efficient shooting, and
that is something that Zach still has problems with.

Lauri is in health protocols alongside Kevin Love. No problem. 7 footers still beating up opposing teams on defense. Jarrett Allen had a hell of a game. Mobley hit in some KEY moments.

Those two together are so good. The fact that you can't get away with switching guards onto them is what makes them cool.

Cedi and Windler in limited minutes were very good from outside. Especially Windler, who was killing it in the first half.

Rubio didn't fill up the stat sheet and frankly was not good shooting tonight but he is so valuable on the floor.

Oh, and Sexland together went off for like 40 and double digit assists.

Survived every single attempt of a comeback from Portland in the 2nd half.

Positive development. This team is learning how to play good basketball. It's fun to watch them again.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

I said nothing, and that commentary was way more offensive.
Nor did other posters say anything to you about it.

But that’s the difference between me and you. I have a human understanding
of things, and I don’t exaggerate the situation or make a huge deal out of it.

So stop with the fake approach of feeling offended and trying to
call out something.

Calling a poster a pussy is not misogynistic and not the same thing ,
and isn’t more offensive than making fun of a player for jokes?

Your actions are also a form of bullying on top of that,
I don’t go at posters in that fashion and never have.

You are very hypocritical, and you refuse to acknowledge it.

At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter to me. Posters on here favor
what they want to favor. But moving forward, we don’t have to
reply to each other. I’m good

I talk shit about players and teams for fun. I don’t berate, degrade
or attack other posters. That’s the difference between me and you.

I'll never forget when I was at a sports bar with no less than 15 TVs, had everything from NHL to ESPN Classic on, and the Nuggets were playing the Lakers. This was peak "rivalry" the year after their WCF series. So I ask if one of the smaller TVs could show the game, the bartender throws it on, and just SECONDS later two separate tables go "who the fuck's wasting their time on basketball in December?!"

Just last night, the Colts are up what 45 to 23 at some point where the game's basically not in question anymore? Meanwhile the Rockets are kinda giving it to the Suns (granted the game turns almost immediately after) when we show up after work, and this time this is our local so bartender grabs the remote and immediately turns the less-watched TV to NBA TV or whatever and even as you can see the channel numbers getting typed in these four guys shout "whoa whoa whoa there's a whole QUARTER left here!"

NFL is king, and the people that don't fuck with NBA really really don't fuck with it.

Outside of the epic choke job against BK, Doc has done a great job of getting the most out of the team. Obviously Simmons isn’t contributing. Toni Harris has missed some games, Danny Green has too (perhaps a good thing?). They continue to roll. I was at the Sixers-Hawks game this past Saturday and it was a pretty electric atmosphere and fun game to attend.

Had no idea Niang would be this good. Maxey and Shake Milton continue to develop. Embiid really hasn’t even got going yet.

I'm still willing to give him the "its early" benefit of the doubt.

Its an almost all new team and he's still trying to figure it out. We signed Avery Bradley the day before the season started and we're trying to make him our top perimeter defender.

OKC’s only true scoring threat is Shai, and they let him score close to
30 points. Double team him, and force the other young players to make
a shot. Dort, Blazley and Giddey are all young and inconsistent. That’s why they
are the worst team in the league. Dort was 4/14 and Giddey was 2/9...The Lakers should have let those guys shoot all night long, and kept the ball out of Shai’s hand.

Okc’s only two wins are against the Lakers.

for someone who everyone says is obsessed with stats...dude must never look at his fg percentage because he plays like he has no idea he cant shoot from outside.

like i know players talk about having a short memory and still taking that next shot even when you missed a bunch...buts thats generally players who have already shown some ability to actually make those shots in the past lol.

but i don't see a big 3 of KD, harden and kyrie having the emotional maturity to get through an 82 game grind and playoffs, and definitely not for multiple years.

it's very possible they can win a championship if they are all 'on' at the same time and for enough of a stretch in the playoffs. chances are slimmer than kd, though, that they get through a season w/ no drama, catching feelings, or finding some weird way to fuck up team chemistry, etc.

spot duty. folks that been watching were very hopeful that he got that last roster spot, and it is paying dividends.

but much like with juan toscano-anderson (and damian lee, to keep it a buck), he's an underdog who is overachieving, and found an environment to maximize his talents while perfectly complementing the overall system.

if i'm a star guard for an opponent, i do NOT want to see this mfer coming at me when either of the starting guards for GS are out. and he's catching sneaky little backdoor cuts and banging on cats, so now they gotta expend defensive energy too?

dude is LOCKDOWN on defense. very dgaf attitude.

and then his hops are startling for even an nba player. like, we were in game 3 of the season before i realized he was only 6'2". his elevator is *explosive*.

dubs low key using him as the lob threat until wiseman get back.

even on his rebounds, he is going up on 7 footers and snatching boards, and because he is so quick off the floor he's getting put backs in the paint.

i'm so happy for dude. and it's crazy that he is the 15th spot, but kerr already has found a place for him as a special situation sub. he had been, prior to his breakout game, getting the 'last shot of the quarter' substitutions. chance to get a starter a bit more rest, and disrupt the opponent's shot attempts. but in those situations, he was coming up with damn near a steal in every situation.

he gonna fuck around and be like 8th man.

also, his defensive play is infectious. you see steph out there locking up dudes? *everybody* out there playing hard on d and they go on defensive runs.

this team is so damn fun to watch.

We play the 76ers again tonight. Hopefully, we get a winning result,
and there is better ball protection in crunch time.

If we protect the ball and play fundamental basketball, no way
philly can beat us with their current lineup. But if we make stupid
mistakes, philly will definitely capitalize off that.

Lavine and Vuecivc worry me, especially in crunch time.

Derozan has been on a tear, and should get MVP considerations,
because most of the top players in the league haven’t been playing well.

These are my rankings:

KD, Jokic, Steph, Morant, Derozan

Official rankings:

KD
Steph
Butler
Morant
Derozan

That’s Philly’s Offense and lineup, and it works. Picking up Niang was huge,
that’s defense and three point shooting.

Zach played a much better game tonight, but the trash defense of
Vucevic cost us this game. Embid lunched all night long, and the shooters
went wild.

Maxey, Milton, Korkmaz, Curry, and Reed... no Harris, no green, no Matisse
tonight, and they clearly don’t need Simmons.

Smith, Jr. needs to start at the 4 to give us some rebounding
and athleticism in the paint.

Lonzo Ball is a joy to watch...a pure, pure PG.

Of course Embid is the far superior player, and he is going to get his points.
However, he thoroughly dominated tonight, where it was just way too easy.

Anyway, how does it feel to be wigless? Portland straight took y’all wigs,
on some 1 for you, 2,3,4,5 for me shit.

Kidd was a huge loss, clearly. The injuries sure aren’t helping, and Caruso >> THT…but literally who will coach this team? Who’s even out there?

They did just give him an extension too.

Can't really explain the Russ shit, we were just staring at the screen like who is this man?

But to see Melo constantly get to his spots, get his shots off and everything look just right except the end result, it hurt. I wanted to see him carry a team one more time and clearly Vogel thought it was the only way out and it blew up in their face.

Just a reminder that I'm the jerk that would've taken Melo over LeBron until, like, 2013, and this Lakers season is feeling like some kind of karmic debt for that hahaha.

Portland, then Toronto (a 1 point gritty win), now Knicks (dropped 126 and won by 15)

Ricky Rubio has been amazing. Best trade since 2 Knicks United.

Mobley looking like he's only got Scottie in the way of being ROY.

Allen has leveled up with Mobley on the floor.

The Cavs keep losing dudes out of their rotation. Markannen, Love, Okoro, and now Sexton. Our wings (Windler and Cedi) stepping up.

And are winning off defense and smarter basketball.

What I've been looking for since LeBron went to LA.

Yes, I'm mad. Let's move on.

As does Rubio going Super Saiyan, lol.

I thought Mobley would need a little more time because he's physically kind of raw for a bigger dude. And I questioned the wisdom of playing a 2 big man lineup (3 big man lineup with Lauri, really) in today's NBA.

But if Mobley's good enough defensively to make up for some of the perimeter defense deficiencies, and if Rubio is making enough shots (as is Lauri) to keep opposing defenses reasonably spaced? Then... yeah, it could work.

But I do think it mostly all works because Mobley's just that good. He's my ROY so far pretty easily. And I also think if Rubio comes back to Earth, we'll see how that affects things. But early results are pretty surprisingly great.

depending on how he decides to handle it, this could mean he's out for the season, and the question then becomes whether he comes back to the Cavs at all?

I was looking forward to see how his game would adjust with the changes in the team. Worst break.

And for the Cavs this sucks for other reasons, mostly because they have no one to replace his scoring (at best) with Okoro also out.

collapses, oop to whoever's in the dunker's spot. except instead of wiseman, it's gp2 (because he's on the floor w/ bjelica or porter, and they take their man out in space to spot up).

when they run that w/ the starters it's a catch in the paint by loon, 3 pumpfakes and either a make or a trip to the line.

they are on a run like every night when 5 players are in double figures. but it be different guys every night.

gp2 balling so hard that he's taking minutes away from d lee, who was averaging 14 ppg in a backup, swiss army knife role.

this is giving 2015 vibes when they were blowing teams out and the bench was playing MAJOR minutes. which made their 8-12 guys as good as most teams 4 - 6 guys by mid season.

steph lowkey in a slump (had he gone a stretch last year of 'only' scoring 20 or 25 pts they'd have lost every game. but he has stepped it up on defense and kerr is giving him extra rest now.

i think klay can come in as a spot shooter and just light shit up until he's fully comfortable (hoping for a kd like recovery).

wiseman, i'm more concerned about how he fits in, but EVERY timeout they are in his ear telling him stuff, making sure he's getting mental reps.

they running lob shit to gp2 that they'd be running to him. that is wild.

JTAs minutes have dropped, and that's one of my favorite players. if he can keep playing defense, hit the boards, rebound, and continue developing his court sense mimicking draymond... he'll be okay. and he'll be able to jump in and play big minutes if there are any injuries.

dubs could have a roster where they literally go 13 deep on a nightly basis and wear teams out.

yeah. this shit crazy. that is demoralizing when they got the ball movement going and kicking it out and all around the perimeter and you got to close out on EVERYBODY.

>*all* these dudes shoot with the utmost confidence.

being around the greatest shooters ever (as well as the folks who coach the greatest shooters ever) gotta have something to do with it.

hopefully that rubs off on moody and kuminga (and wiseman).

but d lee, JTA... they definitely been in the lab on the deep ball. gp2 been in the lab.

and then the vet min pickups? shit is beautiful.

Bulls play the Nets tonight at home.

We should win the battle in the back court and along the perimeter, but it could be
a long night if we can’t stop or contain Durant and Griffith inside the paint.

Derrick Jones,Jr. should get start at the 4. He possesses the length and athleticism
to defend against Durant, and make it difficult for him to get into his offense. The goal
should be to prevent Durant from getting to his spots and make him work on each
possession. Do not give him any easy looks.

Harden is their main facilitator, so ball penetration and passing starts with him.
Lonzo will have the assignment of keeping Harden in check, and since he is an elite
defender, he is going to make Harden’s life a living hell.

Welcome to the Terrordome.

LOL at those Lakers top 3 predictions. People ACTUALLY thought that.
Frank, you should be thanking me for saving you money. Go buy

Our Guards controlled the game, and Harden was kept in check. Durant,
of course, got his. I wasn’t fond of Green guarding him. I’m not sure why
Billy went with that matchup, but it became a moot point as we dominated the
game.

The bench was tremendous, with AYO leading the way. That kid will definitely
get all rookie team considerations. He was relentless on both ends of the court.
(FUTURE STAR 2 GUARD.)

Bulls scored 42 points in the 4 quarter, hitting shots from all over the court.
The shooting performance was on master level tonight.

Lonzo Ball put on another defensive masterclass with his astounding
defense on Harden...Kid is a straight up Hawk.

Before Alex Caruso signed with the Bulls, he gave the Lakers a chance to match Chicago's offer.

Los Angeles said no. Then they said no again when Caruso asked for less money to stay.

The Lakers' initial offer? Less than two years for $15 million.

this team is just clinical right now. they pretty much get whatever shot their play is designed to get. 3s, lobs, backdoor cuts, etc.

In response to Reply # 176

if you're going to throw an elbow don't expect to be out of dodge from retaliation because you turned your back and slunked away from the situation you started. imo everything is on the table after a cheap shot.

tired of this "because his back was turned" stuff. that shouldn't be a shield if you started some shit.

in the back, something tells me he wouldn't of ran up like that if they were face to face.

Jokic took a way worse shot at Cam Payne in the playoffs last year then tried to get tough with Book lol

Both actions were flagrant 2s, and Morris was the instigator.
