But...given everything going on in that rodeo of a state right now, I gotta wonder if Silver, the NBAPA (which, through CP3 and others, the Suns carry heavy weight in right now) and the more progressive team ownership groups wanted to tip-toe their way around a scenario that inspired or even necessitated a sale on some devil you know type shit? I'll admit I fell out of the loop on this Suns story because the pods I listen to during the season were usually talking Ayton drama if the Suns came up past February or so, but from what I remember Sarver comes off as more of a typically disagreeable, money'd white man writing checks for Black contractors that feels unappreciated for his generosity than the exponentially more toxic shit Sterling was pulling? But a quick headline skim shows he was your usual scheming banking and real estate asshole so I'd be the absolute opposite of surprised to learn he couldn't find any common ground with Bo Outlaw or Quentin Richardson, put his foot through his own chest trying and then blamed them for making him feel insecure, repeated year after year until his self-styled altruism hardened into white fragility and rich man's spite.

Im actually a little surprised in retrospect that it was relatively easy for them to get rid of Sterling given this. I’m reading the Wiki on him and I’m reminded that he doubled down on his criticism of Magic on CNN during the whole controversy… essentially saying it wasn’t really racial but I don’t want my mistress hanging out with the kind of man that catches AIDS (!!)
Overall, I think it was an easier case against Sterling bc his stuff more directly hit the league (and some of the hostile workplace stuff too).
Ultimately, the biggest reason that whole thing resolved relatively smoothly is bc his wife was the only co-owner… after he’d humiliated her with the affair and the rest of the scandal, she had him deemed incompetent and cashed out for top dollar. Didn’t even bother with a divorce; saved that money and is just gonna run out the clock on his alleged dementia.

but draymond calling for a vote among owners during their upcoming meeting...and several players co-signing him...momentum/pressure was building pretty rapidly to push owners to make their stance public.
its no coincidence that sarvers decision came out right before media day(s) with chris paul, bron, steph, etc. calls for an owners vote wouldve gone into overdrive.
some owners prolly called ol boy up like 'you fucking up the bag for all of us' and indicated they would prolly be forced to vote against him just to avoid the pr hit to their franchise.
