NBA 75 team: Full list of players revealed as league celebrates 75th anniversary season

As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, the league will be releasing a list featuring the 75 greatest players in NBA history during the first week of the 2021-22 season. And I just assumed Dwight would be in it. I know he’s had a goof last couple years but that doesn’t undo 5x All first team and 4x dpoy

Dame has zero trophies or scoring titles.

Kyrie: 50-40-90 club, nba champion, 7 time allStar

Mcgrady: 2 time scoring champ, 7-time allStar.

God damn, and I’m not even a Kyrie fan( fock Duke)!

He has the greatest dribbling skills in nba history.
He is also the better finisher and shooter.

He Has the better 3pt fg pct, and he is a 50-40-90 guy.

Y’all let those logo threes go to your head.

that would take Kyrie over Dame.

"best dribbling" L O L

Honestly? Dame doesn't deserve it either. I tend to agree with the person below who said Bron, KD, Steph are it right now. I'd probably add Giannis. Maybe Kawhi.

Not Dame.

But I could name 50 players that deserve it more than Kyrie.

I’ll take a vaccinated Kyrie over Dame in a heartbeat.

What did Kyrie do to Steph in the Finals?

Dame hits a bunch a logo threes and chokes in the POs

Kyrie even turned his defense up.

Dame doesn’t know what defense is.

Possibly then greatest scorer in nba history

6 time all star
Nba rookie of the year
2-time scoring champ.

The only player in nba history to avg 30 ppg, while shooting
55 percent from the field in 4 straight years....

And he was a perimeter player, no bigger than 6’4!

in over Reggie Miller.

My argument was Klay has never been a number one option on a team and has benefited greatly from being Steph's sidekick.

And unlike the ultimate sidekick Scottie Pippen Klay doesn't have a season without Steph where he lead the Warrior to the playoffs. He has been a 2nd and sometimes 3rd option his entire career.

It's almost as if they wanted two current stars (Davis and Lillard) to fill out the list. Anthony Davis has had maybe three or four actual healthy full seasons. Its obvious he will be one of the greats eventually, barring more injuries, but now today? I just dont think either of those two have resumes that scream GREATEST OF ALL TIME LIST

I guess if you use the 'can only tell the history of the league with him' rationale, you'd include him. Those Pacers/Knicks/Bulls battles are legendary.

But I don't object to leaving him off.

I saw Alex English's stats and he probably should be on there. Along with Adrian Dantley and some of the others named here, like Dwight.

I'm not quite sure how heavily that should be weighted, but I like that argument. Greatness includes certain intangibles that aren't necessarily quantified in stats, and Reggie holds a fairly significant place in the 90's NBA due to those intangibles.

But I don't think Dame or AD should be on this list. And I'm not sure Worthy or Paul Pierce does either. Although Pierce did win a chip and Finals MVP and was the Celtics leading scorer(?) when he retired.

I'm not sure Kahwi has played enough, although I think by the end of his career he would have proven himself worthy.

Dwight should be in, those 8 years in Orlando was the career Anthony Davis was supposed to have. Dwight beat LeBron to get to the Finals, AD have to team up with LeBron to get there.

As far as active players IMO.

Kawhi - his resume is insane, and only 3 people have won FMVPs with multiple franchises (him, Kareem, Bron).

Giannis - 2x MVP, DPOY, FMVP, 5x All Star, 3x First Team, 3x Defensive First Team, Most Improved, etc? Yeah, he's on there.

Melo - 10x All Star, Top 10 in scoring, 2x Second Team, 4x Third Team? No question.

Harden - MVP, 9x all star, 6MOY, 6x First Team, 3x scoring titles, etc? Zero question.

CP3 - 11x all star, 4x first team (9 total), 7x defensive first team, ROY, top 5 in assists? Yeah - he's there.

The title helped AD in a big way.

Dame...well, he's got some stuff...but no chance he deserves it over Dwight.

Russ...the MVP helps big time, as do the triple doubles. You can argue against him but I think he belongs.

- 8-time NBA Allstar
- NBA AllStar MVP
- 4 time FIRST team All NBA
- 3 time NBA blocks leader
- 2 time First team All Defense
- 2 times Second team All Defense

Great two way player.

To me, players who shouldn’t be on there:

Lillard, Lenny Wilkens( greater as a coach), Reggie Miller,
Carmelo( borderline).

I mean, you can leave off Iggy given the rest of his resume

But if you have 5+ All Star appearances, any all NBA honors, and a FMVP? It's going to probably put you on this list - both Pierce and Worthy have those.

Kawhi...well, almost nobody has his resume. 2 DPOYs, 2 FMVPs, 5x all star, 3x first team, 3x first all defense, 4x all defense 2nd team...very very hard to leave him off. It's like Giannis - it's just too good of a resume to leave off, even as weird as it feels to include newish players.

That's why so many take issue with AD and Dame I guess. It's LIKELY they'll end up in this pantheon - but it's hard to say they're there now.

I forgot he won two DPOY's for some reason. By any standard that should get him in.

I think the reason including Kahwi is odd is because 1. he's only 30 and 2. he wasn't really a 'thing' until a few years into his career. So he's only been a great for less than five years.

But then again, Giannis to me is a lock, even though he only has the one ring and is only 26. That's recency bias for you.

I looked over Worthy's stats again, to get a sense of his case to be on the list. According to them, there's a reason he's Big Game James.

I wasn't really a basketball fan when Showtime was a thing, but it was interesting to see that his scoring went up significantly in the postseason. So, between his improved performance in the playoffs, the five rings, and the Finals MVP, he does deserve to be on the list.

because being the second best player on a title team isnt a knock in and of itself

Joe Dumars was that. but Joe Dumars filled his role by being either the first or second best perimeter defender in the entire league, and whether one prefers Jordan or Dumars isnt even relevant because there was no one else in the convo.

Dumars also blazed 5x All Defense 1st teamer Michael Cooper for 27 ppg on the way to a Finals MVP.

he also never played on a team where he could do 16p/4r/2a in the Finals and they would win anyways. if Joe D wasnt peak Joe D in the postseason, those Pistons dont win any chips.

so theres levels to being the second best guy on a title team

these "what about me" ass dudes with no perspective whatsoever are hilarious

hes really gonna pitch a bitch about not being on an alltime list that Joe Dumars isnt on?

with his fewer AS (6-5), fewer All-NBA (3-2), and his piddly lil 1x 2nd Team All D (Joe D has 4x 1st, 1x 2nd), combined with his lack of a Finals MVP

thats the resume hes gonna tout?

to reiterate...fuck him.

I'm kinda at a loss just from seeing Reggie Miller ahead of Drexler. That had me with the coyote question mark above my head. The fact that they ranked Reggie 51 in general has me mystified.

But one of the things about Reggie is he has some big iconic moments that tell some of the story of basketball in the 90s and early 2000s. If were looking at this from a marketing and storytelling perspective, for your brand, it is really hard to eave Reggie off the list on that alone.

He had an excellent 15 year run before his decline, drained three's, and had several undeniably clutch moments, that, as you said tells some (I'd upgrade that to significant) parts of the story of 90's NBA.

His Finals run cemented that stature for him, IMO.

He was great, no doubt
The 7th greatest bball player of all time…absolutely not
Larry Bird is not better than Kobe…he’s just not
Even the next 5 players on the ranked list…I’d put ahead of Bird

Larry would be Joe Harris in today’s NBA
A 3pt specialist
He’d get killed by isos
He was great for 10 years
Those last 2 were spent laying on the floor with a bad back
Played with a lineup of HOFers

I get why…but let’s be honest…dude is not top 10.

We could have the same conversation about Stockton…but IDK anyone that has dude top 25 all-time

ESPN got agendas.

LOl yea. im an LA dude who grew up hating Bird -- but the all-around skillset and mindsetis undeniable.

The biggest and only argument vs Bird is his short run due to that back injury....

I do think Bird vaults higher than he probably should given health and longevity on these all time lists (though the resume is INSANE), which was the only thing I was agreeing on - slightly.

The notion he was JUST a 3 point specialist is...insane.

You sound crazy bruh. Bird was a BALLER. He would do just fine in todays NBA. Especially since you can barely play defense anymore.

You can make the same argument about whether todays players would do well in the 1980's/1990's NBA. You had to be a grown ass man to make it back then.

You had to look like Clyde Drexler when you were 25. LMAO.

It's hard to compare eras but one thing that is undeniable is a dude just busting peoples asses. Bird was dominant and he played 40 minutes a night even with a bad back......that dude was coming for you every time.

because there's no way on EARTH, MARS, or BLEEP BLORP that Kobe is behind him...

...you just can't. if you never really saw him play you completely wouldn't get it.

that fact that you said Bird would be a Joe Harris 3-point specialist is just flatly wrong and proves you don't know who he was as a player.

he only averaged 2 three pointers per game ATTEMPTED (not made). he ONLY made 649 threes in his CAREER which ranks him in the mid-to-high 200s in all time 3 pointers made. there are certified AVERAGE players with significantly more career threes than Bird because the game wasn't focused on the three like it is now.

what Bird actually was, was a pretty mobile (when healthy) forward who could use his shooting ability to kill you in the midrange and use and crafty-ness and strength to kill you in the post too.

despite the popular belief that he was some 3 point killer, he only shot 38 percent for his career. he shot like 51% from 2 point range, getting his buckets, as i said, in the post and the midrange.

yes, there are players ranked below him on this list that should be above him. Joe Harris tho? c'mon dawg.

did Reggie ever have a teammate as good as Kobe or Duncan?

Pau had an 0-12 playoff record before he went to LA
