I watched most of the Syracuse game and they should never be this bad on offense. Uiagalelei isn't very good but he shows some flashes, their receivers are awful and the line isn't much better. plus Tony Elliott seems to be just doing the same old shit that worked with transcendent talents like Watson and Lawrence.
no way Clemson should not have more game-breaking talent waiting in the wings.

of course the shitty SEC refs botched another game -- it's not the reason the Vols lost, but it crystalized everything about the state of the program for two decades. being in a 4th and a mile with the game on the line, SOMEHOW actually completing a pass for the conversion, only to be screwed by an inch at the end. that's UT football in a nutshell, and we've seen it time. and time. and time again. they even invented the 10-second run-off because of Tennessee being fucked TWICE in the same season!
all the sizzling takes from last night are just funny to me. far as I know, none of the cheerleaders lost an eye and Kiffin took it better than all the outrage warriors online. the mustard bottle and golf ball were legitimately funny to me.

I never said the program needed the death penalty (maybe just better security or penalties for individual offenders?) but calling it for what it is...trash behavior from a trash fanbase from a trash part of the country certainly seems well earned. as is the title of of worst fanbase in cfb which had been earned well prior to this gross display. mind you, I'm not lumping you in this or stating it as a reflection on you (I'm guessing you weren't at the game last night) so there's no need to take personal offense.

I think you can be freakishly passionate about something without resorting to physically harming someone as a result of your disappointment/frustration. there was a line that was crossed here. Like, I still have nightmares about the calls in the 2019 fiesta bowl. That doesn't mean I would feel compelled to throw a golf ball at dabo if I saw him in the street, lol.

I remember watching arizona/oregon in the mid 2000's when oregon cheerleaders were getting pelted with stuff. Beyond that I don't recall seeing anything similar to what I saw this past sat night. Which isn't to say that horrible shit hasn't gone down at other stadiums. But I think this situation was pretty unique. And when there's been other instances of awful fan behavior I don't recall any of it being rationalized in the name of losing seasons or bad calls. That's the point.

the UT fanbase resume speaks for itself at this point. we can project what other SEC fanbases might or might not do but as far as I know they haven't pulled the shit that UT fans have pulled.
I'm sure I've told this story a million times on here but my only in-person exposure to SEC fans was the NC Game in 2007. I've never seen an angrier group of people in my life. They were beating the shit out of us and about to win a NC and you'd think they'd be happy and celebrating. NOPE. Starting brawls in the stands, vandalizing OSU cars in the parking lot. It was insane. And these were fans of all ages...middle aged guys who had enough money to shell out for airfare and NC tix yet had to be subdued with pepper spray and hauled out of the stadium in cuffs. Just a bunch of angry rednecks looking for any reason to fight. But I'm sure if you asked them they could give you a list of nonsense justifications for their behavior.

I agree this isn’t something to be argued about endlessly. I was just surprised by some of the reaction to my initial post as the whole thing seemed like a pretty straightforward deal.
