Hard to imagine it'll return
May 03rd 2021

      RE: Which is better?

61
Ha. I know this team is better.
May 04th 2021
66
You’re making the same types of excuses that were made
May 04th 2021
68
If the Bulls get a top 4 pick, I'm dancing.
May 04th 2021
74
                               That’s cool.
May 04th 2021
79
In this draft, you *need* a Top 5 pick.
May 04th 2021
58
           Understood.
May 04th 2021
67
probably same reason Novak Djokovic didnt get it

May 03rd 2021
53

This is a weird take.
May 04th 2021
65
AD was on the block last night, only took 2 threes, 7 FT's, he should...
May 04th 2021
63
yep he's getting his mojo back
May 04th 2021
81
Why does nobody trust the Nuggets, Jazz, or Suns?
May 04th 2021
69
Those organizations don’t have a history of championship success
May 04th 2021
71
But that's a really weird reason, right?
May 04th 2021
73
Those teams consist of championship winners

May 04th 2021
89
we know regular season hype when we see it
May 04th 2021
91
UTA in particular is too reliant on the 3 + gobert is a liability
May 04th 2021
94
I agree with the Utah bit.
May 04th 2021
97
this is true. DEN can't defend and PHX can
May 05th 2021

I don’t recall Blake ever diving for balls like that, seems like he’s trying to settle into the role of fake goon/designated flopper and cries to the refs way too much for a role player

leaning into being a role player with the limited minutes he gets. I agree though, that could have been nasty. That’s the same why Bron got hurt against Atlanta.

Personally I wish we kept Dangelo and kept building

I got a few dirty looks from Nets players when I’d occasionally boo Kyrie and scream to bring DLO back lol

I’m just saying this offense looks way different when Harden running the show

Tbh he’s forced me to eat a lot of crow . I hated how he played in Houston , I hardly watched the rockets bc of him but his transformation in Bk was remarkable . I don’t know if he was ever close to Jokic but I remember hearing some MVP discussion around him

>I’m not fan police guy. You’re a Brooklyn fan, by all

They were playing some scrub team so it wasn’t a full house

It was Taurean Prince and Wilson Chandler that looked right at me lol

(this was his first season)

The only reason I got season tickets is because we got DLO I thought we’d keep him and make a run at Giannis when he was a free agent . They were 9k at the time lol (charged that shit to Amex and made 3 interest free payments ) and Barclays was emptyyy as hell.

Edit If any NYC or elsewhere OKps wanna hit a nets game in the fall and want really good seats (row 5) let me know . I’ll give you a family discount. Edit I don’t have playoff tickets because they made all the seats open to public this year.

https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/lakers-lebron-james-says-whoever-came-up-with-the-play-in-tournament-needs-to-be-fired/

The Los Angeles Lakers lost their third straight game on Sunday, falling to the Toronto Raptors, 121-114.
As a result, they're now in a three-way tie with the Mavericks and Trail Blazers, which puts them in serious jeopardy of
winding up in the play-in tournament. And if all that wasn't bad enough, LeBron James left the game early with ankle soreness.

when the season returns back to the normal 82 games. Having to play 82 games and instituting the play-ins would be brutal for those teams having to suffer through it.

That would be a disaster.

I've always hated it and thought it's awful idea. I'm sure Silver conceived it thought he'd be giving a chance to broadcast more games with Zion, Morant, etc. Best laid plans...

If this season was the regular 82 game length and if fans were allowed to fully attend the games, I would agree with you on the players and owners being greedy. However, the fans (rightly) aren't allowed to fully attend the games live and the season was cut by 10 games, which further lessens whatever revenue the owners and the league can get.

I would have to imagine the league and the owners are losing out on some money this season. Television revenue is somewhat of a buffer, but the lack of ticket sales have to hurt somewhat.

Obviously - the injuries are tough to understate.

The 71 day offseason certainly doesn't help - and it's not exactly the same, but 3/4 of the conference finalists are underperforming this year.

Vogel's fucking up with the minutes he's playing Marc. His rotations in the bubble last year left a lot to be desired, so I don't want to count him out here - but that was with a veteran-filled, hungry, healthy team. Not so much this one.

Championship fatigue is real.

And of course - Bron and AD playing the "we're not worried" game a bit too much.

Doesn't seem likely we're repeating, and boy does this team miss Dwight and Rondo, but whatever...get to the playoffs and see. If they flop - last year was cool. If not - great.

he's certainly had extra free time lately with the ankle so a worry about getting sick for a day or two after the shot(s) and missing a game isn't an excuse.

rumor has it that zach lavine was one of the bulls to not get it and then he goes and tests positive and the season is over while the trade for vuc looks like an L.

don't know what reasons these dudes have but they definitely deserve the side eye.

I said when the trade was made that it was terrible trade, and the two
were terrible together before Lavine got quarantined. However ,the beauty out
all of this is that Coby White has been balling on both sides of the ball,
and really running the offense.

Getting vaccinated is still a personal choice because science still doesn’t know
how long the protection will last. The current estimation is 6 months. So there are
people who don’t want to get multiple shots, and want more safety data,
since safety data on the vaccine is less than 6 months. And if history has taught
us anything there is nothing wrong with the wait and see approach, especially,
if you have a healthy body in general.

We have no idea what these guys are enduring on a day to day basis or what
they are going through with their families.

One thing we do know , though, is that Zach Lavine is trash defensively.

In response to Reply # 34

1. The new Bulls front office saw an opportunity to get Vucevic and SOME would say they pushed all their chips* in to get him.
They did this for two reasons:

+ They genuinely wanted to compete for the playoffs
+ They wanted to show LaVine (whose contract is up in 2022) that they were committed to winning.

* (Karnisovas is on record saying the Bulls are not done constructing this team so that's not really putting ALL of their chips in).

It was a bold move that I don't see the previous front office even considering.
I'll admit personally with the season LaVine was having and the help Vucevic provided,
I thought the Bulls were definitely going to make the playoffs.

2. Bulls next 10 games:

L, Spurs
L, Warriors
L, Suns
L, Jazz
W, Nets
W, Pacers
W, Raptors
L, Hawks
L, Timberwolves
L, Grizzlies

3. Bad losses with this new team (especially the last 3) let management know this team wasn't going to
make the play in tournament let alone the playoffs. And even if they did, they would get swept in the 1st round.
So they pivoted.

4. Health and Safety protocols allowed them to disguise sitting LaVine
to ensure a higher chance at keeping their 2021 pick which is top 4 protected.

The question I have for Bulls fans, which is better?

A. Competing for the playoffs, a definitely 1st round exit and losing the 7th pick.
B. Improving your chance at a top 4 pick to 32%.

The focus should have been on truly developing and building the team. That is where the focus should have been, and not making a rash decision to bring in a center who gives you nothing defensively, as well as that decision handcuffing the team from making FA moves in future.

We did this with the previous management. We constantly rationalized their personnel
moves to somehow make sense of them.

The Vuecvic trade could really set this rebuild back. He is owed 24 million
next season and 22 million after that. So he will be on the books for 46 mil
for the next 2 seasons.

And next season Zach will be in the final season of his contract, and will
probably want 30 million a season. The Bulls can offer him as much as 190 mil
for 5 years...but no way in hell is he worth that, and that would be a lot of money
on the books in combination with Vue’s money.

Anyway, Zach isn’t going to sign an extension. He is going to do a Gordon Hayward,
and walk to an enormous deal elsewhere. This is why the bulls should have traded
him earlier in the year when teams came calling. No team is going to trade for him
now with only one year left on his contract, when they can just wait until the end of
the season to sign him.

We are going to be stuck with Vue, Coby and nobodies, swinging away at drafts for
the next 3 years.

We are screwed.

Karnisovas didn't trade Jimmy Butler for Markkanan and LaVine.
Karnisovas didn't draft Coby White and Wendell.
They inherited these players and after a season
of evaluating the roster, they're realizing this roster was poorly
constructed from the beginning.

Markannan is done. No way they extend him. Theis is playing over him.
White is still young and I'm kinda hoping we keep him.
Thad is a great vet, but he's not part of the core.
Same for Temple.

Much of this team could be gone this offseason.

>The Vuecvic trade could really set this rebuild back.

Because of an unknown, 19 year old picked at #7?!

He is

John Salmons and Brad Miller? Remember Them? That was the last time the Bulls made a trade at the deadline to improve the team.
I don't know what your stance was during the Paxon/Forman years,
but fans have been clamoring for a more creative front office for a decade.
Now we have one that actually improved the team via trade, and some of
those same fans are crying about losing the 7th pick in the draft.

In response to Reply # 56

This team has gotten worst since the trade, while the Magic have gotten better!

The Magic were licking their chops when they saw the Bulls coming,
and sold them a lemon. No one else in the league was/is interested in Vuecvic.
The Bulls were competing for a play in game before he came. I wasn’t the
biggest fan of Wendell Carter, but he played some defense. Daniel Gafford is
balling in Washington. I mean balling.

The previous management didn’t let Shaq Harrison go, who is balling
in Denver

The previous management didn’t let Dunn go.

The previous management didn’t trade Carter and Gafford, who
have improved their teams.

And all those players were picked from the previous management.

However, this ain’t about the previous management. They are gone.
This is about the current management and how they made a move
that could leave this team in a bad state for years to come.

This management has yet to do anything to separate itself from the previous
management. I don’t see a difference. Other than bringing in Donovan, most
of the moves have been shit. And Patrick Williams has regressed,
but he is rookie. I do like him, but he has been playing like crap since
the trade.

We focking traded Gafford/Hutchinson/Carter for a 30 year old defensive
bum ass center who can’t move his feet or guard a fly.
That’s improving the team?

I count 5 shit ass moves by this organization that could possibly kill this team
moving forward.

However, the verdict is still out. I’m a Bulls fan through thick or thin. So I will
be here. This year, however, the grade is a F.

1. Carter, Gafford, Hutchison, Otto? NONE of those guys were playing in the 4Q either due to health or just poor play.
Given the same pre-season and practice time,
I know this current roster is better than what we started with.
But I'm not getting attached to anyone on this roster. I expect big changes this offseason.

2. Dude. Dunn is JUST NOW getting on the court in Atlanta.

3. Gafford and Hutchison are benefiting from the attention Westbrook and Beal get. Bulls don't have that. I thought Gafford was a solid rim protector, not much else defensively.

4. Wendell probably needed a new environment. Even more so, the Bulls couldn't wait for him to figure it out. I'll take Vucevic's 20/10 every night and watch teams try to deal with him and LaVine in the PNR and deal with his defense.

when gar/pax made shit moves.

Prior to the trades we were sitting nicely in a play-in spot, but since the trade
we have fallen out of that spot. And the playing like crap since the trade
happened before Zach got quarantined. Bulls actually started playing a little
better once he got shelved.

It’s okay to say that the FO has made some terrible moves.

Everyone was screaming about how the Vuecvic trade was going to push our
playoff run. I told you then it was a shit trade, and I’m still saying it.

The FO made a dumb frantic move, and the Magic are
laughing their asses off.

And you’re still saying that we are much better team when the numbers say that
you are wrong.

Maybe it comes to fruition later down the road, who knows.
But to give up those picks and young players for a player who is a
HUGE negative on defense say it is one of the worst moves in Bulls history.

Getting rid of Jimmy wasn’t all that bad because Jimmy was a locker room
cancer, even Rondo said that about Jimmy’s behavior and statements.
And at least the Bulls brought in young players, and not some aging bum
ass center who walks opposing players to the basket.

The drop-off after 5 is significant. I could make the case that the 6th pick would be fine too... but yeah, the drop-off in surefire talent after that is pretty real.

I would’ve tanked, personally.

Before Patrick Williams, the Bulls have picked 7th the last 3 years.
And fans crucified the previous FO for not deciding on a path: Rebuild or try to compete.
I give this new front office props for

1. Recognizing this team wasn't good enough to make the playoffs and being able to pivot to...
2. Actively trying to improve their draft position.

Now all of a sudden trading away the 7th pick is going to ruin the Bulls rebuild?

Len is the center and Hachimura is the PF

Len grabbed 2 rebounds, and Hach grabbed 7. That’s the usual stat line every
night. Every single night, Westbrook is double digit in rebounds while
his big men barely get 5 or 7 boards.

You are a big man and you’re not even allowed to get rebounds. That’s some
focked up shit.

But hey getting scripted triple doubles sells records.

But we tried that. It didn't work. Better players have accepted lesser roles to win titles. Dwight right today is better than this Drummond, and he came off the damn bench while being a 8x all star and 3x DPOY, and that's a dude who was known for being difficult. Drummond can suck it up if he actually wants to boost his value for the offseason.

They’re now in really good position for the play-in game. Considering they lost like 10 of 13 after the COVID shutdown when multiple players got COVID, and considering their third best player is Rui Hachimura, this recovery is fairly impressive imo. Other stars would’ve packed it in, said they have an “ankle injury,” and let the team tank.

In response to Reply # 0

I'm certainly guilty of this myself. And less so on the Nuggets (though obviously when Jamal went down nobody was expecting them to still be so good), but the Jazz and Suns are the class of the league right now and I feel like NOBODY thinks they can make a deep run. Obviously, you have the championship pedigree on teams like the Nets, Lakers, Clippers, etc - but those teams are really good and this year is still pretty bizarre.

I'm not sold they can do it, but I really wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Jazz in the finals.

One championship squad in another era doesn't mean a current team will or won't win it all. Hell, the Nets aren't a team with a title or even one I'd deem always in the mix to be a contender - and obviously the Clippers. Shit, the Suns have more finals appearances than the Clippers do.

Why?

It’s the lakers.

However, they are the lakers, so they are going to get support
even when they don’t deserve it.

They have been there. They have done it. The Nuggets, the Jazz, the suns haven’t
been there or done it.

And until they do, they will not get the same attention.

Also you answered your own question : “people believe in championship pedigree”’
Nuggets, Suns, Jazz don’t have that kind of history.

I don't personally buy it, but the essential school of thought is most of the key players on those teams have made a deep play-off run or played in the post-season all that much (CP3 being the notable exception).

edit: Local radio has talked up the difference between the "82-game player" and the "16-game player," and how the Jazz and the Sun don't have many of the latter. Forgetting of course that a lot of the players on the Warriors didn't have much play-off experience before winning it all in 2015.

But, yeah, I wouldn't be surprised at all to see the Jazz go deep or even win it all.

I think its because most of the people watching the NBA are on the East Coast and those teams are notorious for great regular seasons and playoff stankiness

Its not fair but that’s it in a nutshell.

TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

the playoffs last year. The Nuggets are missing a key play from last year's WCF run even though they have played well since he's been hurt.

I get that Booker, etc might not be ready for the bright lights and all that...but it's a different season. It's shortened, players are injured left and right, the fan element is still going to be weird/up in the air...weird shit can happen.

In response to Reply # 69

we all know what happens when 3s aren't hitting. if they're not hitting 3s in the wrong game then UTA is likely outmatched. gobert gets picked on in switches in the post season. jokic has his number as well. not sure about the gobert vs AD matchup but i would think that AD cooks him in the mid-range

PHX is young, unproven, and un-tested. folks are right to doubt them. bridges and johnson can hit corner 3s at a high clip in low-stakes regular season games. unsure if they'll perform in the same way when the season is on the line. book, CP3, and crowder seem solid enough but i think PHX will need more than them to get past tougher opponents in the playoffs

DEN has the best chance of the 3 teams in question. they're playoff-proven and undeniably gutsy. jokic is about as clutch as a player can be. however without murray teams will focus on jokic and MPJ and force DEN's streaky and unreliable shooters to beat them. i like the other team's chances when barton, morris, campazzo, etc are deciding the fate of the game

I ultimately don't trust Donovan Mitchell when the game's on the line. Same with the Nuggets minus Murray tbh.

Suns are interesting because I may not trust Paul or Booker individually... but together, I'm not mad at the combo. And the defense is way stronger than expected. If I'm picking a team of these three (without Murray), I'm picking Phoenix.

if it comes down to a slow-paced half court game about shot creation and getting stops — like many playoff games do — PHX definitely has an advantage with CP3, booker, and their defense

The Nets are 27-7 with James Harden since the trade.

9-9 without him.

Kd and Kyrie won’t get it done vs Philly or Milwaukee
Harden and Kyrie won’t either

which is better than you might expect, given the composition of that team. my memory is they had a nice 3-4 game win streak with just kyrie but i guess they were losing about as many as they were winning without harden and KD. i agree that harden is the thing that makes BKN work. games without harden seem like a coin flip. games with harden are closer to a rigged coin flip

Kyrie was killing. People are bugging.

The problem is actually KD. He isn’t a facilitator, so without harden to balance things
out, or with just Kyrie and KD there are too many isolations

Kyrie and Harden are guards ..KD isn’t.

Harden without KD or Kyrie can get wins
Kyrie without harden and KD can get Ws
Kyrie and Harden can get mad Ws.

But when it’s just KD with just one of the other guards, there
are too many iSOs, and others not getting the ball.

Kyrie and Harden get others involved...KD doesn’t because he isn’t a guard.

Elite, efficient score, but getting others involved isn’t his thing. So when one of the
guards is out for the game , and he is out there by himself with the second unit,
while Kyrie or Harden ( depending on which one is out) is subbed out, the offense
just goes through him.

Kyrie-shamet-Harris-Green-Jordan ...were killing cats before KD came back. And
Brown came off the bench as the scorer.

That’s not what I’m saying. It’s KD. Best in the business.

Put it like this. If Kyrie and Harden were both out,
he wouldn’t be able to lead Brooklyn like they can with him out.

KD isn’t going to make sure that Shamet, Green, Harris
or Brown get shots.

Kyrie and Harden will. They both, this year, have turned into good
facilitators after being labeled ball hogs for the majority of their careers.

KD will get his 30 on 50 pct shooting. No doubt. But he ain’t going to
have double digit assists to go along with that like Kyrie or Harden will.

That’s the difference with their losses...Since KD has been back, shamet,
Brown, green have faded to the back.

He missed so many open passes to other players lady night bc he was caught up going one on one vs Luka

It would have been obvious last season but kyrie decided he didn't wanna play if KD wasn't .They learned last season that he's a flakey me first weirdo who can't be depended on.

Without Harden this team is going nowhere, nets management saw the writing on the wall and that's why they traded all their good young assets for Harden .

Kd and Kyrie together won't beat Philly or Milwaukee in 7. I'd put money on it but Harden will be back for the first round so it's moot.

But at the same time - I refuse to be one of those spoiled fans now that I’m older and have perspective.

The damn Kings haven’t been in the playoffs in the time it’s taken the Lakers to win *3* titles.

Last year was magical. This year started fine enough and now here we are. It sucks, and who knows - they may do better than we think - but I’m taking solace in last year and getting the team healthy.

I’ve never seen anything like it. They are benching healthy players to ensure
that their teams lose games. And the players that are playing are not even trying
score.

This is why in fantasy never take any players from OKC. Houston will lose, but players
will get you points. Even Lou Dort is playing like shit on both ends. He let Curry torch
him. Going under screens and shit on Curry. I’m like, yeah, okay. Dort is too good of
defender to do stupid stuff like that.

I don't think it's a coincidence that the teams in the conference finals last year had tough years with injuries, etc.

But yeah - nightmare season. Still, that core is locked up. They should probably change SOMETHING this offseason and not give the front office or Stevens a pass due to injuries.
