I grew up playing baseball and was fortunate enough to play in college; even coached in college for a few years.
Well, five years ago I got into coaching softball (my daughter plays) and I have not looked back. In fact, I find it hard watching baseball because the game moves so much slower.
I know Oklahoma is currently #1 but I still think UCLA is the team to beat.
most women sports are facsimiles of men sports (basketball, soccer, track), but softball is unique because it is fundamentally a different game.
starting pitchers do not need the same rest throwing underhand and can go back-to-back games, even double-headers. also, I love how different the pitches are -- riseball, drop curve, screw -- several of which are not even possible in baseball.
smaller infield makes for much different strategies (no leads but harder to turn double plays, slap hitting, etc). and like you said, they play at a great pace, which is baseball's biggest issue.
been watching super regionals/WCWS since Monica Abbott at Tennessee.
