No need to keep Victor, Wall or Cousins. They are in a rebuild. The question is, does Silas have the character to endure it? He seems fragile to me emotionally.
Problem with this TD is that a lot of old or questionable players are generating most of the buzz.
Lowry is old. Alderidge is old. Oladipo has injury concerns, and so does Wall. They don’t really scare anyway, or necessarily put a team over the top.
Now there is a lot of trade talk about Aaron Gordon and Lonzo Ball, and both players could put a team over the top, like the Celtics or the Clippers. But both teams will have to give up a lot to get them.
Ball definitely gets moved either to the Knicks or Clippers... But I don’t think anything blockbuster is going to happen or be similar to harden getting traded.

Lowry can still play and would be a nice fit on the Sixers or Clippers

Silas, in his recently interviews, was just highly distraught. I get it. The team was dealing with a long losing streaking, but a coach must maintain his confidence and strength. You don’t want to be a Doug Collins. The locked room will never believe in you.

If both players are not part of their current teams plans moving forward this trade makes sense.
Not sure how I feel about this as a 7 footer with good range and above average to good athleticism is an asset, but the Bulls need a point guard. Maybe Wendall can morph into a 4? Dunno.
Would be interested to see what other pieces are involved. The Bulls desperately need a center. Getting abused down low by literally every opposing center is an issue.

Prior to this season, Lonzo rejected an extension offer by the Pelicans because he wants 20 mill per season. The Pelicans aren’t going to pay that, so instead of them losing him for nothing, they are seeking to trade him.
They like him and and want to keep him, but not at that price. I agree. And since the upcoming draft is going to be loaded with all around guards , they can replace him at a cheaper price, and get more assets by trading him.

Bulls have a center in storage overseas, so I guess this was a now move to make a PO run. Aminu and Porter were sorta like for like, with Aminu being the healthier player, and Porter is on an expiring contract.
Vucevic can score , but is a poor defender, even worse than Carter. Bulls need defense at the center position at the moment. So I’m not sure how this help. So this could just be a rental move. But giving up 2 first rounders, I’m not a fan of.
The big elephant in the room: PG is still a huge problem. White was benched because he played horribly as a PG, and Sato is just a filler. That needs to be addressed, so I’m shocked they didn’t bring in Lonzo Ball.
So I guess they felt Ball isn’t worth the 20 mil that he wants to get paid...or they are still in pursuit of him and will offer other assets.
I’m Still trying to figure what the FO is doing.

Houston could have had Ben Simmons or Caris Levert... they really fumbled that Harden trade. But Wood, Porter,Jr, and Martin are the future. So they got that going for them.

wont be winning a title but we should be competing for a 3-5 spot in the east. i'll take that with the expectation that the new front office will do what they can during those 2-3 years to continue to make moves and improve the team.
gotta start building a winning culture at some point. we've just begun that process with the moves today.

And it's not close.
OKC made what was then a conventional decision to go with the big man , at a time when they already had an elite wing and point guard. So there was some measure of calculated wisdom there.
If there's anything that made that trade dumb, it was the extra chump change they refused to pay him that lead to the decision.
But yeah, this is way worse than what OKC got in return for what was, at the time, a talented player who wasn't anywhere near the God Mode 2K player he'd become.
Trading a good young player with all star potential for a bag of dicks is nowhere near as bad as trading one of the all time great, dominant scorers who ever played for a bag of dicks.

i think it's too early to call it. OKC got 2 draft picks (one of which became steven adams) + jeremy lamb and kevin martin for a generational talent. i think they finagled another draft pick out of the deal so we'll call it 3 picks and 2 players. HOU netted ~10 draft picks + 2 players (olynyk and bradley) for the same generational talent. HOU could use those draft assets to trade for or draft a franchise player. it's also entirely possible that none of these picks ever amount to anything or get thrown away in stupid trades. maybe harden never becomes harden if he re-signs with OKC. i'm not sure how to accurately compare these kinds of trades and if/when hindsight has an effect on the evaluation. i do feel like HOU got a lot for harden who was not long for that team as soon as fertitta stepped in and quashed all luxury tax options despite having the one of the most unstoppable offensive players in his prime
Who just averaged 12.4 pts on 37.5% shooting, 4.8 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in the Finals? Who hadn't yet been an all star, let alone an MVP (and runner up 3x)?

He’s not going to be a plus until the playoffs. While I have no idea if this works out obviously - he’s a huge upgrade to their game. My team has either had or faced Rondo in 3 finals and if he gets that far? No question he is an instant upgrade to their offense.
Now losing LouWill? That’ll prob hurt in the regular season. In the offs? Totally new game

I heard on one of the ESPN NBA podcasts that LouWill hasn't been as effective with Kahwi and PG as he was last year. Plus, some folks think Lou may be a defensive liability while closing playoff games.
Can Rondo be a significant upgrade? I'm not sure. Likely not in the regular season. But he did show out last year with the Lakers during the playoffs. The Clips are betting they see that this playoffs.
